It also happens to be a Turkish city where camel wrestling apparently takes place. Pure coincidence, but imagine my surprise when playing Civilization as the Greeks and one of my new cities pops up as Ephesos. :P

lol. Sweet!

My name is Andrew, too.
Anyway, Iffy is the nickname for Infernal Flamming Muffin.

I was just downstais one day, thinking of what to call myself when I registered. I was thinking about "Muffin Pancake" which is usually my shaper's name. I decided that it had to have "muffin" in it.

I thought about "Undead Muffin", but then I figured that Ephesos would hate me. So I though of something. When I registered (quite exited), I typed in Infernal Flamming Muffin. The extra "m" was a misspelling. But I decided to stick with it.

And I eventually had a nickname, Iffy. Don't call me I.F.M or IFM. Call me Iffy, or Infernal Flamming Muffin.

I don't think Ephesos (or in Turkish, Efes) is really a current Turkish city. But the ancient city has been being excavated and semi-restored for several decades now. The project will take another half-century or so to complete, but it's already a heck of a place to visit. They really didn't live so badly there, in the early centuries AD. An important tip for enjoying such a place: think of the swarms of other tourists as though they were simply the population of the city, which in its heyday was crowded with people from all over the then-locally-known world.

My name is a mix of one of my last name, and an inside joke about a physical feature (which I no longer have). It also has many different connotations, which makes me seem like I have multiple personalities. Go ambiguity.

I originally came up with the name in the way that Asimov came up with R. Daneel Olivaw: I took a normal name (Landon, as in Landon Donovan) and mucked with it. The "Kel" syllable seemed vaguely elf-ish.

If it's on the net, I wouldn't mind a link.

Similar to the surprise of being hailed by Andraste in EV:N, I presume!

My PDNs are picked as artistic expression. I do not change them daily like Alorael does, but I tend to change them more often when I get all angsty and have an identity crisis. :P

Current name (Xian): I pilfered it from Dikiyoba's story.
Last name (root): Both my recent use of Linux and my love for Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle and Enoch Root are to blame.

I would have figured you would have connected the dots with St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians.

I was thinking that as well, and then I remembered that Eph is not Christian, and thus would not be immersed in Biblical knowledge.

S'pose that would put a damper on that. Good old Civilization filling in the gaps, though. :)

I was Episcopalian by virtue of family (and by many years of church attendance), and still kinda am, but more atheist than anything else. So I had heard of the Ephesians, but I don't think that had anything to do with the name.

Or maybe it was all some huge subconscious thing. Meh.

O RLY?

And the city's name was Ephesus. Clearly different from Ephesos. Sheesh, people, world of difference.

Anyhoo, Dintiradan is bastardized Sindarin. It's missing an accent or two, methinks.

Sure, if you're Latinizing it. Transliterated from the Greek, though, it's Ephesos. Check it out at the Perseus Project, and don't speak to what you don't know, foo!!! Word is bond.

And it happens to be the only definition by this mysterious "KGF." Highly suspicious, and more than a little disturbing.

If that was too disturbing for you, then you have no business surfing the internet. C'mon, people - it's merely a description of something that occurs probably a billion times every day in the world.

Yes, but one doesn't usually say such things in public.

Then again, this thread can hardly get more explicit without some serious rule-breakage. That is, unless such rule-breakage has already occurred, I'm not sure. That's for the mods to decide.
