You kind of messed up. You really need to come in the back way, avoiding the main entrance to the Mages' Quarters. Secret passages, Move Mountains, and a puzzle are involved. Honestly, for a detailed walkthrough, I suggest you go HERE, or buy the A2 hintbook. As for the other questions... 1. You need to go see Sulfras for the scepter. That's all I'm saying. 2a. Lichs, no contest. 2b. Come on, you can find something better than a drake/ice drake for a Soul Crystal, can't you? 3. That's a good third of the endgame, so it'd be wrong to spoil it. Go find them yourself. (Though I will say that the Olgai Council is a good place to start asking questions) -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. OoC: Thralni, it's more of the fact that it's very late in the RP, and we kind of need to get this to a conclusion. If you hadn't noticed, it's been slowing down a lot, so we need to finish before it drops off the boards into oblivion. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. OoC: No. Just no. No pirate-in-a-box here. How could a pirate-in-a-box get this deep into the mountain (and this high up)?! The river wouldn't take them up into the mountain, it'd take them straight down under the mountain! I think if Mung honestly wanted in on the RP, then we would've seen another post by now. And I personally refuse to adapt the story to an inexplicable pirate-in-a-box. Somebody else back me up here! -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. OoC: LIFE!!! I GIVE YOU LIFE!!! (coughs) Pardon the insanity. But it was about time this got dredged up. IC: Sequoia walked a few paces behind the elf and Lisha, still unsure about the caves up here. As the tunnel sloped slowly upward, Sequoia sensed something was amiss. Nothing terribly blatant, as nothing was moving. But there was something that just didn't look right... The stalactites, he realized. He was pretty certain that they shouldn't be quite that curvy, and they loked slightly off-color. In fact, they sparkled. But not in the way you would expect ice or wet rock to sparkle... it was a bit redder than that. He couldn't see why he hadn't noticed before. After all, the caves were nearly coated in pure white ice blown in from the outside of the mountain. This can't be normal... but can the demon be causing this? Slowing his pace for a moment, Sequoia tried to examine one of the stalactites on his left. Unsure of his vision, he leaned in closer to it, and didn't see a sparkle. "I think I'm hallucinating." the druid said to nobody in particular. "I think the mountain just has too much energy floating around," Lisha said, before the elf stopped walking. "What did you see?" she asked Sequoia levelly. "Nothing... just a few sparks. Could've just been a trick of the light. Fine, I don't know, don't look at me like that!" he answered nervously. The elf turned back up the passage, merely muttering "Orloki". Confused and marginally frightened, Sequoia jogged a bit to catch up with the elf and Lisha, who had both started walking again. He knew he was running out of energy, he could feel the fatigue creeping up on him. Or was it just the mountain playing tricks on his mind? His hand checked the inner lining of his cloak, making sure that the fragments of his staff were still present. Fortunately, they were, along with his necklace. He absentmindedly fidgeted with the necklace as he walked, hoping that he could at least figure out what it did before having to face Orloki. It'd be easier than trying to figure out anything else that's happened lately... he thought, carefully walking up the icy tunnel towards Gaea-knows-what. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Uh... it takes more work than it's worth. If time is really an issue for you, just reset the day via the character editor. But if you're serious about it, check the BoA Appendices. There's a whole section on horses and boats. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I have never used a curing elixir... nor have I ever used an augmentation potion, healing potion, strength potion, or shielding potion. For the most part, it's only speed and energy potion/elixirs for my party. It's so much easier to just give your main fighter the priest spell skills to heal himself. Alternatively, you can give your priest some speed potions. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. The face in general looks like it's curved the wrong way. Still, very impressive stuff. quote:Ah, but arrows don't always work... I can't believe this happens in A4. And they're pathetically weak until you upgrade to something like a blessed longbow. And even then, they still do half the damage that good melee fighters can do. Still, little is more annoying than to haste/bless/shield your fighter, send them charging at a strange enemy, and have them run back and attack you after landing one blow. (Haven't had a priest taken out in such an encounter yet) I'm just thrilled to have my fighters (one who's mostly an archer) wielding some classic über-weapons which are finally usable again. After the downgrades they suffered in A3 and BoA (when you can find them), it was nice to see these two sharp things back in the hands of my party. Pointy-side up, of course. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. quote: quote:Item-hoarders, tremble in fear at the coming of Avernum 4! Jeff shall smite thee in a most foul and unpleasant way! Seriously, my parties in BoA, A3 and A2 all carried about 20 wands that they never used, my fighters would all have 8 or so extra weapons and suits of armor, everyone had a ton of scrolls, my BoA archer carries a lot of unused ammo (thank you Alderague), everybody's potions account for a lot of weight (I just know those 60 healing potions will come in handy someday), and the parties' excess potion ingredients would seed a forest if planted. My A4 party keeps maybe four wands (which do get used, since pyrotechnics that nobody can cast are fun), almost no excess armor, no excess ammo (though this is for a different reason than you'd think), and hardly any extra weapons (my archer keeps three swords on hand, but that's it). Granted, they still carry a ton of excess potion ingredients, but that's because they never have enough potions. Excess and greed are punished in A4, and the righteous shall tread lightly and survive. (Who wants to be weighed down by extra armor when you have to flee from a fight?) -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. How can we guess when you're joking, TM? After all, you pick some rather strange things to be serious about... though the idea of you saying "ohmigod, Ohmigod, OHMIGOD!!!" is harder to wrap my mind around than the rest of the stuff you say. Was that the joke part, I wonder? </sarcasm> Joke or not, it appears that there is a (somewhat) legitimate discussion about it, so I believe the thread has moved beyond the joke. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Okay, I stand corrected. I didn't actually mean that you had to play VoDT first, however. I thought Shapliest was asking whether or not you could just start another scenario while you were in the middle of VoDT. In short, I was confused, listen to Aran. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. 1. If I recall correctly, you just approach the bookcase, and you get a message which says that you find nothing. You're not supposed to find anything. In fact, the way to finish the quest is to go back to that librarian and tell her that you didn't find anything useful. 2. You have to finish the scenario in order to take your party to the next one, unless you take them out of it with the Character Editor. And very nearly everything goes with you to the next scenario. The only things that don't: -NPCs who joined your party -special items -quests -special abilities gained during the scenario (outside of the normal ones, i.e: the ones you get from Divinely Touched) -items with graphics specific to the scenario (note: this goes for Apple Pie in small rebellion, so they won't carry over) -items which are specific to one scenario's scripts (such as the Opening Stone in Valley of the Dying Things) Beyond that, all items, experience, skills, and traits carry over. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Let's see... I forget what I used for A2 & 3. Nothing interesting, if I recall, though. For BoA, I used a nearly-indestructible human fighter with some priest spells (enough to heal & cure himself), a nephil archer with a decent sword and some mage spells (enough to cast light & bolt of fire), a human mage with Morog's Scepter for some SP relief, and a slith priest with a decent spear and some points in Lethal Blow ('nuff said). For A4, I find that a super-quick self-healing spear-wielding human fighter, a sword-wielding sharpshooting nephil archer, a pure human priest with nature lore and first aid, and a spear-wielding slith mage work the best. Much more specialized, but for a reason (A4 is tough...). -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion.
