Looks good.

Shuan Wuan: Not long, I would guess. Well, not long if they had an idea of what they were making.

Well, they do look cool you must admit. If the game is going to be half as sleek as that logo, my expectations are satisfied.

However, I believe TM when he told me could whip up something better with minimal effort, seeing as it'd take me something like an hour and a half to reproduce this with Photoshop, and I'm a failure as an artist.

Actually, that logo's pretty simplistic. I could make one much alike and it wouldn't take *that* long. Of course, I'd probably do it in unnecessarily hard way, because I'm not that familiar with the program I use, seeing as that I don't use it that often and have not found need to know every little trick it has to offer.

I think I'd first start by either finding a suitable background or just whip up one on my own. Then I'd use the word tool creating the actual logo as a selection. Then I'd copy the logo selection with the background, go back to scratch and paste the logo onto white. Then I'd select some sides of the letters and fill them with opacity set at an appropriate level with white and then other sides with black, or perhaps dark gray, and so creating that nifty, kind of realistic effect of the letters looking ... not flat. :\
And then it'd pretty much be done.

Of course, it wouldn't look much better than that, so I don't see what the point would be for me. I'd rather try and make a better one, of course. Except I won't. Because I'm busy. And don't care.

EDIT: *points down* If it's good, yes, but that isn't.

Indeed - a lot of graphic programs come with filters built especially for making 3d effects, and generating depth at the edges of a picture. Photoshop does - after you have the flat picture, it's three more clicks and some drawing of sliders to give the logo some depth. Which would be a lot easier than doing it with opacity and brightness yourself.

Photoshop and photoshop... *grumble* no one ever talks about any other program. Rowr. But I have PSP8, so -- it's just as good.

Did everyone miss the part where I said it's no better? Perhaps I should've pointed out that I didn't set out to 'out-do' the original logo? I just wanted to see what I'd do, if I were to _really_ do so, sheesh.

Or you could put it in Dimentions, if you have it.

Riibu: That is not bad, but the '4' is a little dark.

EDIT: Damn typo's. I have a new keyboard, and it will take a bti of getting used to.

Oh, and I only have paint, so I can't compain. :P

Hence my words 'I messed it up'. The way I was doing it I should've added the line around the letters in two parts. First just for 'avernum' and second for the number. But I never think these things through that well. Actually not at all. I just start doing stuff and hope it'll end up as something like I imagined.

Anyway. Simplistic logo. Woo. And now the game, please.

Occasionally. More often, simplicity is a deceitful excuse for the shoddy product of a lazy mind. As a thoroughly lazy, but honest man, I'd much rather do nothing than churn out such pitifully minimalist efforts.

I like the logo. In game, it looks quite nice.

It's simple, straight forward, and to the point.

I can't stand games where my computer has to load some movie file or some huge animated image rendered in full 3D, spinning, wreathed in flames, with all manner of useless special effects and CRAP. Yeah. That's right. CRAP. To much frigging time making some eye catching logo. And not enough time making a good game and getting the bugs out. And shipping a product that's only half baked. Bother.

How can we guess when you're joking, TM? After all, you pick some rather strange things to be serious about... though the idea of you saying "ohmigod, Ohmigod, OHMIGOD!!!" is harder to wrap my mind around than the rest of the stuff you say. Was that the joke part, I wonder?

</sarcasm>

Joke or not, it appears that there is a (somewhat) legitimate discussion about it, so I believe the thread has moved beyond the joke.
