The actual current logo is "AVERNUM IV" carved from time-expired cheese. Riibu's logo is the excellent idea of a stony, cavey background, with barely legible text of uninspired form superimposed. Some combination of the two would be better. No doubt someone could invent the ultimate A4 logo. Let's cure cancer first. -------------------- We're not doing cool. We're doing pretty. Well, back in the non-humilliating conversation, in roman numbers 999 = IM? Or CMXCIX? I always have doubts like that. Now when i look the 2nd number i think that probably the first is the right way. And how is 100000 is roman numbers? Posts: 446 | Registered: Friday, July 22 2005 07:00 |

It's CMXCIX, actually. 100000 would be C with a line over it. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I like this phrase: "Bene, cum Latine nescias, nolo manus meas in te maculare" I would like to be able to speak latin, I can easily translate latin since nearly all european languages are based on them, making it a breeze. However, it does not substitute real knowledge. Better go find a latin course and learn some more russian while I'm at it. Learning to speak languages is fun! Yeah, Kelandon, I couldn't agree more. I have been learning it now for three and a half years and I still can't proparly translate all Latin. I always have problems, make mistakes, etc. Even if you understand all the grammarm you will have to deal with the new words. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. I can't properly translate all english (into Finnish), and I've been studying and practicing it for about 15 years. I don't think I ever can. I don't know about Latin, but I've found Spanish to be relatively easy after learning a bit German and much English, because of similar words especially in English. (Knowing some swedish, however, makes it also harder... There are so many of same words that mean different things in those two languages.) Posts: 259 | Registered: Saturday, June 1 2002 07:00 |

I did three years of Latin in high school, using Waldo E. Sweet's excellent Artes Latinae program to teach myself. Great fun. Definitely one of the most enjoyable and valuable learning experiences of my life. Posts: 907 | Registered: Monday, July 15 2002 07:00 |
