Uh... it takes more work than it's worth. If time is really an issue for you, just reset the day via the character editor. But if you're serious about it, check the BoA Appendices. There's a whole section on horses and boats. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I supposed you couldn't tell me that there's an editor that lets you do it with just a click of a button huh? so what's the BOA appendic. oh and could it be possible to make a tool to just add certain props into any scenario, seeing as I'm not familar with the way BoA works. -------------------- Life by the yard is hard, life by the inch is a sinch! No there is no such editor. BoA scenarios depend on a number of files, some of which are script files that provide code for the game application to execute at certain times. Boats and horses are added to the scenario by certain particular script calls. A scenario is very complicated, and can be constructed in many different ways. It would be far simpler to just learn how scenarios are made if you want to modify them. Basically like Ephesos said, if you want to know, read the manual. It's included with the scenario editor program, which you might want for editing scenarios anyway. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" Horses really don't help you that much except avoid outdoor combat. I suppose in time limit scenarios they could be useful. Generally they are more trouble than they are worth. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:Something odd and rather inconsequential: The .BAS file format does have space for horses/boats, though I'm not sure if its used by the game. The editor itself won't allow people to edit this data and the documentation says to use scripting, so it would seem to be just a remnant of the BoE file format. But if it were, it would've made more sense to just take it out of file format alltogether. Posts: 264 | Registered: Wednesday, June 16 2004 07:00 |

In that case, I think we'd all be curious to know what happens if you put somethere there and then load up that area in the game. I don't know how much trouble that is, but if you felt like doing it, it'd be informative. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I'll do it, but I won't be able to for a day or two. While I wasn't looking my laptop stopped working, as I can't get it to turn on. Right now I'm salvaging the hard drive to get at the code I hadn't yet committed to the CVS server. After that I'll check. Posts: 264 | Registered: Wednesday, June 16 2004 07:00 |

I checked, and the changes I made to a .BAS file had absolutely no effect. That chunk of the file format seems to be utterly useless, which should allow me to simplify my code a bit. Posts: 264 | Registered: Wednesday, June 16 2004 07:00 |

Okay, so we rule out the proccess of just editing and adding the monster to the scenarios due to difficulty vs value. But, what of an item/spell that could summon horses or boats? just wondering about other possibilities (though it already seems hopless I must ask) -------------------- Life by the yard is hard, life by the inch is a sinch! Horses/boats are not treated as creatures nor items, but as a special object in and of itself that is placed by scenario scripts. Also, we do not have the capability to edit spells, despite our desires to do so. Jeff doesn't "trust" our ability to do it, sadly. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

That would be even more difficult. In fact, from what I can see in the BoA Appendices, it's impossible. There just aren't calls to make it possible. EDIT: Well, there's some strange timing... if only I'd posted seconds earlier!
