The rest of that idea actually sounds pretty good. Perhaps trying to do too much in one scenario, but it might work.

During the course of posting in this topic, I went up to 4 stars, then back to three. I think I'm just kind of hovering around 3.5... oh well.

Karma topics are weird, but they always come back.

I had simply guessed that it was random interference from someone/something else in the room. Or just a horrendous typo brought on by a near-death experience.

I have yet to find the spiteful person(s) who bumped me down from 5 stars. Imban was probably one of them.

But then again, I hardly ever rate people. The people I end up rating tend to get banned or shunned very quickly...

I seem to recall sometime back around September (might've been earlier...), TM lasted a grand four days between bans. At least, I think he lasted for four.

I always thought that it's the kind of item which runs counter to the over-arching goal of all living adventurers: not get killed.

Imagine this: Your party is sneaking through a fortress full of angry giants, and you're blessing and hasting before bursting into the room where the chief sleeps. You've been successful in slipping past guards so far, and you're ready to kill the chief in his sleep.

... then, out of nowhere, "HI! I'M A TALKING SKULL!"

Cue the guards, the death image, and a reload.

If I recall correctly...

-Take the path farthest west from Fort Remote
-Then, once you cross a small chasm and see some more pylons to the north, cut across to the east, until you reach the easternmost tunnel of those three.
-Head north, and you'll find a few passages downward.

(And I didn't mean save with every step. I just meant walk slowly, because when you're just able to see a pylon, you're one square out of its strike range)

EDIT: You'll know you've found the right place because you'll get a text message to the effect of "the Avernite soldiers somehow managed to destroy these pylons".

Okay, first, the game does change back to "normal" after you finish Rentar's keep.

But as for that section of the game, here's a general tip: Move slowly, and watch the edge of your vision range. If you can see a pylon, you've probably gone the wrong way. If that pylon can attack you, you've definitely gone the wrong way.

This will be a lot of fun once it hits the BoA forum... I know many people who will be making long, complicated scripts.

TM's ghost might be a possible addition...

Your Arcane Lore skill doesn't matter for reading those scrolls... it's a matter of finding the right person to translate them for you.

For the earliest leg of that quest, the solution lies in this thread.

First, Za-Khazi.

Second, no. That kind of structure would simply echo many other RPGs which already exist. Just hack, slash, and stab to the next save point (Dungeon Siege leaps to mind... never did get the momentum to finish it). Spiderweb's games are unique in that they defy that structure.
