Curious, I downloaded Realmz. "Underwhelmed" does seem a fair description. They overcompensated for poor graphics and interface by having way too many useless and confusing stats. In my opinion, it is a major step down from Exile 1 in quality and interface and a lesser step down for the graphics. Some may like it, but I can't see why.

I have tried Realmz. The style is only vaguely similar to Exile and is much lower in quality.

I personally enjoy RuneScape. It is an MMORPG rather than an RPG, but I still like it. Anyone that chooses to try it should be sure to add "archmagealex" to thier friends list.

OOC: Thinking back, I don't really remember/understand exactly why we are in Coronis. One minute we are fleeing from a bat attack in a city, then next we are helping refugees and fighting armies. How did we get to fighting armies and what exactly are we now hoping to accomplish in Aizo?

Alex walks into the main command center and asks, "Who wants a strawberry-cabbage milkshake?"

Startled, Lethalis jumps up and shouts, "What?! they can't be attacking the city yet! They're miles away!" A confused Alex is pushed out of the way as Lethalis rushes out to the city walls.

Ten minutes later, Lethalis returns and angrily addresses Alex, "What did you think you were doing by calling that false alarm?!"

Confused, Alex relpies, "What are talking about? All I asked was if you wanted a strawberry-cabbage milkshake."

"There you go again!" Lethalis shouts. "Stop that, the enemy is not attacking the city!"

After a few more minutes of heated confusion it is made clear that no one told Alex the new codes. Both apologize and make up over a chocolate-seaweed shake.

I think ecstacy-inducing drugs that, after a time, cause you fall alseep and then burst in flame. That way you go out with a bang, don't feel a thing, and enjoy the trip.

(On the ship fleeing the bats)

Alex addressed the group, "Before we fled, I was able to tell that many of the bats were just summoned constructs and that the rest were charmed."

"What does it mean?" ef asked?

"It means," Alex replied, "that our enemy either employs a great many mages or a vastly powerful archmage. I did not have time to analyze the spells to see if one mage did it or many, so I don't know which."

ef responds, "Well, it is good to know some of what we are up against. If we encounter any other magical problems try to find out if it is one mage or several."

The ship continues on to Coronis as the group ponders this revelation.

OOC: Look Tempest, this curse business is undeniably childish and your angered ranting is doing nothing good for the general opinion of you and is disrupting my RP enjoyment. So just stop please. Now, I personally have no objections to you joining the RP as long as you follow a few simple guidlines, and think the others would accept you also.

One, start quietly: you are new to the RP and none of us likes having a new person charge in and yell "Look at me and all the great stuff I can do! You have to give me an important place in the story now!" Just take what we give you for now and in a little while you can start your own adventures connected to our drug ring. Two, you must start back in Valorim at the New Silvar Inn: We have been doing this particular storyline for quite some time and we would not appreciate having you disrupt it. And three, realize that we control this RP: by "we" I mean those of us that have been here a long time and/or have positions of high regard in the "family". If we say "no" it means "no" and if you don't like it go away. You are not the first that we have had problems with; earlier on some of us had problems Wiseman's abilities, he adjusted, and now he is included in the controling "we". Learn from his example.

I do not think this is asking much of you. Please follow these guidlines and be courteous or go away.

However, certain people should tone down their way of dealing with you . It is true that we don't like the way Tempest has been behaving, but I think that some of you *cough* LF *cough* should calm down and try to talk to him more in the manner ef has.

IC: Coming back from an herb shop, Alex took a shortcut through an alley and came upon a disturbing sight: Mars appeared to have subdued a guard and was feeding off of his life-force.

Alex: Mars! What are you doing!!!

Startled, Mars jumps up and stands in front of the body, revealing that his eyes glow with a sickly, lurid light. He looks at Alex angrily.

Mars: "I'm not doing anything! Leave me alone!"

Alex: (gasp) Your eyes are glowing! what's wrong with you? Maybe I can help.

Mars: I don't need your pitiful help! I have become higher than you! you can't stop me!

Mars flees around a corner and is gone before Alex can stop him.

Alex then rushes onto the scene of Zephyr Tempest. After pointing out how what he is doing is completely impossible according to the laws of RP ettiquette, Zephyr and the horrible mess he has created vanish in a puff a logic. Leaving only a young very normal seeming man with some minimal magical ability standing in front of the New Silvar Inn, where, if he is polite and willing to follow our rules, he may inquire about a job.

OOC: Stop disrupting the storyline!!! If you want to participate you must follow our rules!

OOC: How long does the trip to Aizo usually take? So we know how to pace the on-ship subplots. And if we should cause storms for delay.

IC: The voyage started smoothly and all was going well ... for the first 40 minutes. Barely 40 minutes out to sea the ship was passing near-by a coral reef and Alex decided to experiment with ocean life-forms.

The first experiments went just fine, - starfish that could tango and inflatable coral were great successes - but then the experiment with sea anenomes went bad. Grown to the size of a large cat, changed to live in air, and made to reproduce at an amazing rate, the anenomes were supposed to look vaugely like rakshasa and juggle, but they steadily grew more combative as they reproduced!

Suddenly, Alex found himself confronted by several giant, inteligent, violent, magically absorbant and apt anenomes that reproduced at an alarming rate! Stuggling vainly, Alex was captured by the mutant anenomes, dumbfounded to stop his magic, and hauled off into the depths of the huge luxury ship.

OOC: None of you know where I vanished to or anything about the anenomes. You can search for me, but don't find me or any of the mutants. More on this plot when we are further out to sea.

OOC2: If you search for me, Captian Ohab will reveal that his ship has been magically altered to be 3 times as big on the inside as on the outside. Which means his ship is pretty darn huge on the inside.

OOC: Yes, FD. You should maintain a low profile.

IC: Alex immediately had Captian Ohab paint his ship a less noticeable brown with white trim and had him change into a blue uniform. The Captain was stubborn about the name of the ship but settled for The Vengeful Wildebeast.

Also, Alex annouced that he could magically alter his appearance to blend in and could alter another's appearance for up to 3 hours at a time, though the former would limit his magic and the latter is quite draining.

After another unusual encounter with Captain Ohab, Alex secures the ship for the private use of the New Silvar Inn.

OOC: FD, you are crossing an ocean. It would take at least weeks. Besides, if you suddenly jumped the plot ahead several days we should have left, but we are still waiting for Ifolkek's(sp?) assistant. Why don't you just leave for Aizo now, and when we are about a week away, you arrive there?

After a great deal of work Alex had gathered all the necessary supplies for the trip; spare clothes, food, magical and healing supplies, etc. All that remained was to find a ship. Alex headed out for the nearest port...

Finding a ship proved harder than Alex had planned. Most ships charged exorbitant fees per passenger and those that didn't were barely sea-worthy. Then he came upon The Vengeful Butterfly. A huge lime green luxury ship that actually charged decent prices, The Vengeful Butterfly was the perfect ship for the people of the New Silvar Inn. Acquiring the necessary funds, Alex went to meet the captain and pay for passage.

-----------------------------------------------

Alex approaches a man in a bright purple captains uniform who, strangely, seems to have two peg legs.

Alex: Hello there! I seek passage on your fine ship for myself and some friends.

The man turns, revealing a missing arm and a face with no nose and a patch over one eye.

Captain Ohab: ARRRRRHHH!!! I be Ohab! The captain of The Vengeful Butterfly! What be your business here!

Alex: I seek passage on your fine vessel to Aizo.

Captain Ohab: ARRRRHHHH! Be that so! Well, first ye must cross me hand with gold and answer me riddle!

Alex: All right, here you go. (Alex pays the fees)

Captain Ohab: ARRRRHHHH! All righty! Ye may sail upon me ship ye can answer me riddle! What be the air-speed velocity of a swallow carrying a coconut?! (for you Monty Python fans ;) )

Alex: 43.6 m/sec.

Captian Ohab: ARRRRHHH! All righty! Ye may ride upon me ship!

------------------------------------------------

Very satisfied with the new arrangements, Alex goes back to the Inn to tell of the great ship they all get to ride on.

OOC: Thank you for explaining ef. While desciptive battle scenes are nice occasionally, taking over a week to describe in minute detail a single raid is a bit excessive. I look forward to this new plot.

IC: Alex continues preparations for the trip to Aizo, gathering supplies researching good inns to stay at, etc.

OOC: By the way, are we teleporting to Aizo or going by boat? I need to know which to arrange for.

OOC: Ok, we seem to finally be moving on to the part of the RP that I am involved in. However, I must admit that I don't know exactly why we are going to Aizo. Frankly, I found all those posts about that extremely long battle to be quite boring, so I read very little. Can some one tell me why we are going to Aizo and what the last couple dozen posts were about? (From what I have collected, this slith archmage we spent so long killing led a rival skribbane ring and we slowly destroyed it. Am I wrong?)
