What on earth does this have to do with GF?

What I'd do would depend on how screwed I'd be in the situation. If my entire home and livelihood were taken away and I were tossed out on the streets, I'd probably engage in some semi-criminal (and presumably violent) activity both for survival and resistance. If not (which I think is more likely, but we're talking WWII here, so who knows), I'd engage in some careful and well-placed passive resistance. No use in dying pointlessly.

Moreover, people don't fight wars. Governments fight wars. Individuals who try to fight wars against governments get killed pretty quickly. Count me among the forces of defense when the armies are invading, but once we've lost, count me in the number of people committing silent sabotage in the rare moments when it is possible and otherwise whispering and hoping for freedom. Seize the opportunity to push for overthrow when it comes, but until then, one has to wait.

256. Right.

Eh. I see how you did it. Among other things, you botched states 13 and 15 so that they no longer really display properly. Your list of available spells ends with a comma, not a period. However, it gives me an idea for something that might work and save a whole bunch of strings.

You also destroyed state 14, so that the engine no longer recognizes anything but numbers for the special spells, which I suppose is okay, unless anyone objects.

There are a couple of other things here that you do that I think will work in saving some strings.

What you've done in state 19 runs contrary to what I've set up, so I'm not going to include it, but what you've done in state 96 is interesting: you've made it possible to cast blessing special spells on a joined NPC. This hardly seems necessary, but if there's demand for it, I'll include it.

Taskmaker was pretty good, I thought. So was Mantra, although I have never been able to find one critical sword and have relied on my brother's save file to get that darn sword and progress.

I came here because of BoA. I posted because of a discussion of canon that made no distinction between what the community has invented and what is actually in the games, which bugged me. I also got Djur and Alec confused in my first several posts, because both were posting under alternate accounts by that point.

I've been tempted for a while to go retro and make a BoE scenario, but I don't think that I'll be doing it for this contest. :P

The rules look good. A definite yes on the scenarios being eligible for the 9th Contest (dear god, the 9th contest), since that's the way it's always been.

How about a deadline of the end of the day on April 1st, Bain-time? It's a Sunday, and probably some people will want the weekend to work.

Okay, I have to speak up now. The number of your posts is not annoying. It's the fact that you appear not to proofread any of them, and you desperately need to.

I am not saying that every one of your posts should contain immaculate spelling and grammar and be punctuated and paragraphed as if it were a published work, but I am suggesting that you make a good-faith effort to make it easier to read your posts.

After you write a post, go back through it and check for basic spelling and grammar. If you prefer, copy the post over to Word (or your text editor of choice) and run a spell-check there. Make sure that you haven't said anything that doesn't make sense even to you. Make sure that you haven't repeated yourself about three or four times. Add paragraph breaks to separate huge masses of text, but not so many that it looks like you think you're writing poetry.

If you do this, your posts will be far more readable, and people will take you more seriously.

I did. It didn't work. :P

The string limit (750 strings per script) is the problem. The list has to be done in the scenario script, and using 512 monster names gets pretty near the limit already. I don't think it's possible to cut the entire rest of the scenario script down to just over 200 strings, but my mind remains open, I suppose.

By butchering the script, I can only imagine. Send me what you did, and I'll look at it, but I don't immediately see how this is possible.

A problem similar to this (but outdoors, I think) was reported in beta, and I had absolutely no success tracking it down. I will try to isolate this, but if anyone knows offhand what's causing it, please speak up.

A couple of these other bugs seem to be caused by item and creature numbers. I will do my best, but my solutions may be more hacks than fixes.

Terrain scripts can run between every character's step, which would fix the extra AP problem. Of course, if you used a terrain script to do this (and then something in the scenario's START_STATE to supplement it), you wouldn't be able to do anything about the outdoors.

I'm not sure if that helps at all, though.

Thuryl: It's so easy to do that in so many BoE scenarios that I'm surprised that anyone is complaining about it in BoA. But eh, I know, and my initial thought (without looking at it) is that I'll do basically what Diki said, which is what I'd been thinking before.

I should get my computer back tomorrow, and I'll take a look at it then.

I don't think anyone in beta indicated problems with this section, but I'll give it another look. This is not by any means a bug — the scenario is working exactly as intended — but I might try to make what you're supposed to do a little more obvious.

Basically, you're always supposed to get instructions from Kass or Pithoss before you proceed anywhere, as the dialog messages almost invariably indicate. But I'll give this another look.

Normally, when one is asking for help with a scenario, it is a good idea to give the exact scenario name ("The Za-Khazi Run") and the real name of the town you are in, along with a short description of the problem, in order that you can get more specific help.

It's much the same as for, say, Avernum 3. Instructions for that are found here, at the bottom of the page.

Also, please do not double post. Instead, when you need to add new information to the same post, edit the post.
