I'm 18. *reads through this thread and updates his notes, adding that The Red Book is a chick, not a dude* This question is an old favorite, but it's always interesting to see who lies in these topics and in which direction they lie. -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! There is an experience cap, no? I can't get chars over level 101 or so, regardless of how much experience I give them. By the way, I am looking forward to seeing what people can do with scenarios designed for ultra-high-level (say, 70+) parties. In the hands of someone skilled, this could lead to something very, very awesome, especially with custom abilities. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. quote:This is a terrible misconception. You can: Make new scenarios Code creature scripts Code terrain scripts Draw custom graphics Beta-test new scenarios Replay the scenarios with a new party alignment (singleton, all priests, all mages, all archers, one fighter and three priests, etc) Post here to help newbies through the scenarios I'm probably forgetting a few things, but as you can see, there is plenty to do. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I swear, Drakey should give him "Your Postliness" as a custom title. Alorael, why are you so opposed to having the aforementioned title? I've read you discussing how you refuse to have it, but I've never known why. EDIT: And no one answer this but him. I want to hear HIS explanation *wink wink hint hint say no more* [ Sunday, April 25, 2004 20:24: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! *in a hushed voice* Everyone, gather 'round. Notice that Alorael's post count is very near 7500? That means he's almost Your Postliness. And he's claimed (here, among other places) that he won't post the final post that would put him at the Postliness mark. So let's all conspire to get him to post more so that we can trick him into going over the Postliness count without meaning to. But don't TELL him about it. Shhh. It's a secret. tomwatts@berkeley.edu I betatested RoR-BoA. I'm of average skill level as a player. I also understand the Editor reasonably well. And, as you might be able to tell, I check these boards about three times a day, so I'm really easy to get ahold of. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. FBM is a British chap, so I'm assuming he's speaking about Britain. (Also, as far as I know, the UK is the only country that uses pounds for currency -- but I could very easily be wrong about that.) The part about children seems like steaming fascist extrement, but I am not sure about the ID card part. I'd like to hear a more thorough treatment of why it's a violation of civil liberties. In general, I oppose the government gathering any information about an individual that the individual is not allowed to see, but I'd like specifics, if anyone knows them. -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! A3 has a choice to adjust your screen's resolution automatically, which, as far as I can tell, Nethergate doesn't. You can do it manually in your computer's system preferences, though. The way to do that varies depending on your computer's operating sytem. There is a choice in the preferences for Nethergate for the game to take up the whole screen, but I don't think you're talking about the thing that this does. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. In the defaults, the left lava (floor 79) has that red dot when you place it. The right one (floor 80) doesn't. The red dot means that it burns. To make a custom floor that does this, use the call fl_special_property(1) in the scenario's custom objects script. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I've ordered every major SW game online using a credit card and had no problems. I'm from inside the US, but still. As far as I can tell, SW has good security on its website, and all major credit cards have surprisingly good fraud prevention systems. -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! I think the Avernites should wear togas. They're just a sheet, and they eliminate even the inconvenience of needing separate articles for top and bottom. But Jeff did not make the Avernites toga-wearers, so what can we do? (Answer: steal some Nethergate graphics and make a scenario featuring Avernum dwellers modeling a chic new look.) -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I also would like to see an article on puzzles. I don't really know how to create them, and yes, eventually I will go back and play BoE and see how the masters have done it, but some general direction in the matter would be greatly appreciated. My favorite article was Bob, too. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! IIRC, it is the last creation of Eass. Whatever that may be, it is probably not a secret of the Shaper Council or any kind of Shapers (unless Eass somehow managed to create Shapers). I hope it is friendly spiders. People murdered them in BoA's VoDT, so now it's time for their revenge! -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I s'pose Jeff could just make the additional joining NPCs numbered above the numbers that are available now (so the third one would be 120), but there's no way in hell he will do this. I also think there are other things that are more desirable (although I admit that I kind of wish that we had the ability to add genuine PCs as was done in A1-3). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I, too, noticed the problem that Wanderer is talking about. It is not due to monsters being on the same space, although that might have the same effect. It occurs when one monster is on a hill next to another monster, so that it is directly behind the monster. You can see both letters (say, a and b), but pressing one will check only the top one (so pressing a marks a, and pressing b marks a, and pressing one and then the other marks and then unmarks a). This has annoyed me all throughout the Avernum series, but since it has been present since A1, my guess is that it's built into the Avernum engine and there's not much that Jeff can do about it. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens.
