In science fiction, Sean Williams and Shane Dix, Isaac Asimov, Sean McMullen and Frank Herbert are favorites. Also, it's strange that nobody has yet mentioned, Piers Anthony (and as such avoided invoking the Godwin's Law of favorite book topics).
