GC was unable to support itself. Big brother Lost Souls came in to take charge with its other dependent, Ocean Bound, in tow. —Alorael, who took pity on poor, lost GC at the expense of his locked topic collection. Aren't you proud of him? Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

It looks fun, but without a level editor, more complicated rules, or any way to play against other humans, it's not worth the money. —Alorael, who got through the three demo levels in short order (several times) and then forgot about Lost Souls. It's the best of the RW games, for what it's worth... Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

In Exile? I don't recall vahnatai having an especially high chance of dropping vahnatai gear. That only really holds true in the Avernum games. —Alorael, who can suggest knocking around in the various towns with hostile vahnatai. The monsters might not have swords, but there will certainly be a few lying around. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Alas, my posting rate has slowed considerably. I only got to this topic now! It's sad, in a way... Slightly over 8 posts per day. Once upon a time I was a proud producer of far more than that. At least I can say that none of my posts have been shorter than two lines! I know exactly how many PDNs I've had. I even know what they all have been. Now comes the quiz: how many can you come up with? And to answer another question, I've been a mod since... April of '02, I think. Maybe early May. There was a debacle involving a certain banner and the end result was a contested election that landed me a mod spot on the Misc. forum. Misc. is now closed, but Drakey stuck me on GC (joy), which has recently become RWG, and then ET. He notified me of neither one. —Alorael, who is not shooting for 10k posts. There's nothing left to shoot for, except for that custom title that Drakey still won't give him. The tyranny! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

You know, it's unlikely that every single Alien Beast was wiped out after A3. A few of them could have made their way to Skylark Vale, wherever that may be, and burrowed their way into the School. They had only a little trouble getting through the heavily fortified quarantine wall around Footracer Province. —Alorael, who finds it suspicious that "Erika" has an office but no apparent role in the rather momentous proceedings surrounding the closing of the School. Erika would never be one to stand to the side in any matter directly concerning her. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Finally? I think there's been at least one sighting per day for a long time. Maybe not in the BoA section, but I do not restrict my posting fecundity to General, ET, and GC. Especially not GC! —Alorael, who realizes he has just mauled any possibility of remaining on topic. The next poster had better salvage this. The descriptions of Erika led me to believe that she was using some kind of magic to make herself a lot younger than she really is. That could be illusion, but Erika doesn't seem like the type to care about what others think of her or her appearance. Physical rejuvenation would also give her all the benefits of youth, like joints that don't crack all the time and a good back. Those could be of more tangible benefit. —Alorael, who could see Erika having offices in magical institutions all over the Empire. She would definitely want to have her hand in every pot, everywhere, at all times. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Converted? It is a haven for idiot topics. No, it's actually more of a destination for them. I do my best to make sure that they die the death as they deserve. —Alorael, who doesn't see why idiot topics need to be anywhere. If you're desperate for attention, go post on one of the satellite boards. They'll either be happy to have you or they'll let you know exactly what they think of you in terms that cannot be used on Spiderweb. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

You know, the proper term for hacker in the sense you mean is also cracker. Hackers are are programmers, and the majority of programmers aren't particularly malicious. —Alorael, who doesn't think that crackers are the root of all evil. On the other hand, they commit petty theft, and sometimes enough counts of it to constitute grand larceny. True, it's less malicious and less harmful than someone who grabs cash from your wallet, but it's theft nonetheless. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

That depends on the game. In Exile 2, the vahnatai city of Olgai has a shop with waveblades. In Exile 3, search through Ghikra in Upper Exile for the weaponsmith. —Alorael, who is sure that there are other vahnatai weapon shops in E2. E3 has more places to find waveblades, but not in shops. If a topic is dead and you want to revive it for good reason, a double post is acceptable. The alternative is to make a new topic with essentially the same contents, and there's no benefit to that. —Alorael, who has always viewed the no double posting rule as more of a limit on spam and a safeguard for courtesy than an ironclad law. Expediency is more important than number of consecutive posts. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

—Alorael, who believes that "gladius" simply means "sword" in latin. They did buy a great deal of weaponry from the Iberians, but the advantage was in the design and the tactics to go with it, not the metal and the smithing. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

As long as GC is just sitting around doing not much, it might as well do not much over a more broad category of topics. I am perfectly amenable to presiding over Oceanbound and Lost Souls, too. At least it adds one fun game to the forum's repetoire. —Alorael, who doesn't think it will add very many new registered members. Or players, for that matter. Still, every little bit helps in his efforts to collect locked topics. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Jordan -> Dnojar -> Bojar B ?= Dn —Alorael, who doesn't really have anything much to add, except that the name Jordan was better than Bojar. Bojar sounds like an overreaching apprentice who happened to find a cool spell. Jordan sounds more like the eccentric and evil genius who finds a way to adapt and control magical slime technology. That's even if Jeff doesn't legally punch you in the stomach and then spit on you for copyright violation, which I imagine he would. A3 may very well still be his number one seller right now, and I don't think he'd like to take a hit in the pocketbook. Besides, copying A3 would be a nightmare. It's really, really not worth it. —Alorael, who wouldn't trust an A3 knockoff anyway. It would be too easy to miss the little quests and details, of which there are many. Iraqi terrorist training is news to me. I know Saddam had plenty of goons, but I was under the impression that they were all at least ostensibly legitimate military personnel. The terrorist cells are Al Qaeda, which is still in no way tied to Saddam. —Alorael, who is pretty certain that someone would have been proclaiming Saddam's terrorist training camps from the rooftops if any were found. Either the shouting isn't loud enough to be heard under a rock in Alaska or no such thing happened. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I generally disregard karma entirely, but it does serve one useful function: bragging rights. I am the most rated person on Spiderweb. That means everyone loves, hates, or is ambivalent about me! I feel so loved/hated/ambivalized! —Alorael, who finds karma meaningless. If you don't know someone, you shouldn't let someone else tell you what to think. If you do know them, you don't need outside opinions. Besides, most ratings don't correspond to anything meaningful. Getting good or bad karma is just... karma.
