BoE has always been plain ol' BoE. No fancy separation of designers and end users, perhaps because designing scenarios with BoE is a less terrifying task. You know, with a helpful GUI and all... —Alorael, who is certain that you have missed all the secret announcements by not checking the board. Don't believe it? Well, it's too late now. They've all been pruned. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

It's a lovely picture of a vahnatai, but it is regrettably contained in a double post. Most unfortunate! —Alorael, who gives it a blue out of 144. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

You're not going to be able to pull off a frontal assault on the fort, obviously. There is a way in, but not until you register. —Alorael, who wouldn't worry about it. Even if you register, you're not going to get through until the plot is ready for it, and at that point the correct means of entry become perfectly clear. Clothing also serves ornamental purposes. Yes, it can be used to flatter appearances, but it can also make statements, be a joke, or help someone identify (or identify as) a group. They're kind of like tattoos, only less permanent than permanent ones, more reusable than temporary ones, and able to incorporate more materials and textures. I can see the appeal of nudism, I guess, but clothes are nice too. —Alorael, who will not be going around naked anytime soon. He has been known to fall flat on his face at the slightest provocation, and he doesn't need more large puncture wounds in his abdomen, thank you very much. Besides, yours aren't really everchanging. They just change with some regularity. Of course, if I got a title, I wouldn't have any reason to keep changing my PDN. It would be quite a paradox if anyone had any intention of giving me a title. —Alorael, who supposes that his monikers aren't technically in a constant state of flux either, but they're closer than yours. I disagree. To this topic and its creator, I say: I —Alorael, who is now overcome with nostalgia for the good old days. Has anyone been keeping track of the mutant cabbages? INTJ, again, but I don't think the percentages are useful because I've taken that test before. I knew what the questions were looking for and thus answered according to what I thought I should get. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's a common analysis test problem. —Alorael, who has always gotten INTJ, however, on all tests of this type he has taken. Fear the mastermind! The key to getting through the forest, which many people seem to miss, is moving diagonally. On a computer with a full keyboard, you can use the numeric keypad. On any computer, you can use the mouse. You have to step diagonally a few times to get through the woods. —Alorael, who also highly recommends the automap. It's hard, but with some squinting you can see exactly which path to take. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

The Bible never really explains what they are. One common opinion is giants. Another is that they're just big, tough guys. Then there's the ever-popular theory that they're fallen angels or angels' offspring. In fact, given the dearth of clear explanation, they could be nimble humanoid felines. Jeff is a prophet with an inside line to God! —Alorael, who will drool and worship for a while now in a skribbane-fueled orgy of religious ecstasy. I am another cat person. I have a rather elderly and crotchety ex-stray named Sebastian, who probably talks more than I do, and two youngsters named Dex and Caspian who are the bane of his existence. The two young'uns are adopted mixbreeds. Dex is a rather scrawny tabby who is clumsy and far too enthusiastic about everything. Caspian is a very large (well, long), very dignified cat who is almost certain to end up weighing upwards of twenty points, given how much he eats and how little he moves. —Alorael, who fell down the stairs last night because Dex thought it would be appropriate to rub against his legs at an inopportune moment. The stairs are not the place for cuddling! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Without an H, I would pronounce it like the A in cat. With an H, it comes out as the A in far. —Alorael, who pronounces nephilim as the dictionary recommends. It's a real world word too, although you might need a Biblical Hebrew dictionary to find it. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I wavered on a few choices, and depending on my answers I came out either schizoid or avoidant. For me, it's slith-zer-ih-KAI. The first syllable has a moderate stress, the last syllable is heavily stressed and rhymes with eye. When the word vahnatai is used as an adjective, I pronounce it like Kel. When it's a noun, I stress the last syllable instead of the first. There is no good explanation. —Alorael, who actually pronounces both words on a very infrequent occasion. Since he doesn't think in spoken sounds and rarely has to speak those words aloud, it's not an issue that has caused many sleepless nights. In my humble estimation, any puzzle that exists for no reason other than to be a puzzle is starting from a position of "Blech!" It has the potential to advance to "Eh" or even "Whee!" by being really innovative, interesting, and fun, but it starts at the bottom. The better the reason for the puzzles existence and the less it screams "PUZZLE!" the better. —Alorael, who prefers his puzzles hidden. He also prefers his brain-busting puzzles that have no clues hidden anywhere to be bypassable, although of course there has to be a cost for that. Sacrificing a party member sounds about right.
