Well, I'm somewhat joking. I don't actually believe Kelandon and Wizcozski are the same person. On the other hand, although I don't have any personal investment in the outcome of the round, you cannot deny that there was obvious collusion between those two people in the way the match was won.

While not against the letter of the law, I am curious as to whether such behavior should be permitted in future rounds?

I claim invalidity by reason of multiple accounts belonging to the same person. I mean come on, s/he didn't even bother to use a different location! And the posting time is a minute apart! Check the IP, mods, I bet it's the same. Or close enough.

Well, am I right?

If you look closely at the end of line 111, you'll notice there is a quote missing. The compiler is reading the question as everything up to _well, which is where the next quote is.

Does anyone know if arithmetic operations are included in the limit? If not, then I came up with a different algorithm based on demipomme's that might be more efficient:

// Assumes that the only regular floor is 1, and everything to be surrounded with walls is 0
set_flag(100,0,0); // None: No terrain
set_flag(100,1,3); // West
set_flag(100,2,4); // South
set_flag(100,3,7); // South & West
set_flag(100,4,5); // East
set_flag(100,5,0); // East & West: No terrain
set_flag(100,6,8); // East & South
set_flag(100,7,0); // East, South, West: No terrain
set_flag(100,8,2); // North
set_flag(100,9,6); // North & West
set_flag(100,10,0); // North & South: No terrain
set_flag(100,11,0); // North, South, West: No terrain
set_flag(100,12,9); // North & East
set_flag(100,13,0); // North, East, West: No terrrain
set_flag(100,14,0); // North, East, South: No terrain
set_flag(100,15,0); // North, East, South, West: No terrain

x = 3;

while (x < 60) {
y = 3;
while (y < 40) {
if (get_floor(x, y) == 0) {

i = 8*get_floor(x , y - 1) + 4*get_floor(x + 1 , y) + 2*get_floor(x , y + 1) + get_floor(x - 1 , y);

set_terrain(x, y, get_flag(100, i));
}
y = y + 1;
}
x = x + 1;
}
I haven't tested it extensively, so I don't know how many operations it uses, but if anyone wants to give it a try and let me know how it compares, I'd appreciate it.

Assume it's down to Pirates 4 and 5. 4 can just keep all the money, and 5 won't get anything. So 3 needs to convince 5 to vote with him, so he'll offer one coin to pirate 5 and keep the rest himself. Pirate 2, knowing that 3 will screw over 4, would offer 4 one gold piece for his vote and keep the rest. Pirate 1 needs votes from Pirates 3 and 5, and gets the votes by offering them one piece each, which is one more than they'd get from 2's plan.

That's right. It has to do with the order in which the engine handles nodes and scripts. A lot of code would have to be rewritten to accomodate this. Which is no excuse for Jeff not to do it, though.

Avernum 4? in General

Somehow I get the feeling that this cryptic "Play Za-Khazi Run" is some sort of hidden message Drakey is trying to convey. Maybe he's bound by the NDA but this is some sort of subtle way of telling us about Avernum 4? He can't be actually recommending it — he rated the BoE and BoA versions 4 and 5.7 respectively on the Lyceum.

Perhaps A4 deals with the slith war or something? Or maybe the plagues of monsters mentioned in the A4 description are used in ZKR? What about those monsters Morog sends you to kill? Are they connected?

Well, not exactly. harbeh is many, so "v'harbeh shanah tovah" means "and many good year." I like your transliteration otherwise, though, so I'd go with

Yom huledet sameach, v'shanah me'od tovah.
(v'shanah me'od tovah = and a very good year)

Good Books 1885-1950 in General

Well, what grade level are you? Such a huge number of books were written in those years; you'd need to give a little more information about what kind of book you're looking for before you can receive helpful suggestions.

That said, the first book that came to mind when I read 1950 as your limit was 1984, by George Orwell, written in 1948.

Edit: Actually I think it was written in '47 and published in '48. Whatever.

Somehow I get this feeling that Fenwik is no older than 13. Call it a compliment, I guess?

I guess my image of 50-year-olds just doesn't mix well with AOL-speak. I mean, video games I can understand, but it doesn't seem likely to me that they would have picked up on the internet slang.
