Personally, I do not like 3d graphics. What would be cool would be if you could include a larger strategic element in the games. Your character could join in large battles 20-50 monsters to a side as part of a larger war. You would be part of a decisive series of skirmishes or actions. Also have the option of choosing a few of the battles which are predetermined-- what troops go where. Not the whole thing, but pieces of it. Thus your characters would help determine a few of the pivotal battles in a larger war.

No, it doesn't. Spiderweb already made a futuristic game and it didn't do to well-- Galactic Core. I would have liked to play it, but it is only available on MacIntosh. I don't know if Spiderweb would do a space exploration roleplaying game. You have a scout ship and go to different worlds to explore them. It gets upgraded between missions. There is a crew of a landing team of four people. There would be two extras who stay on board-- a pilot and a scientist, etc.

I don't see Jeff doing any large scale strategy games.

I think there should be another way to become really powerful that doesn't come from the geneforge. It would be neat if you could learn the meditation techniques of the insane taker cultists and become very strong magically. A kind of enlightened wackyness.

It would be very interesting. You could also be a complete and total traitor and be an Obeyer from Geneforge 1. Also being a taker would be interesting. Some of the other serviles might be afraid of you. Even better you could be one of the insane servile magic using cultists in the taker compound.

If you get war blessing to level 4-- it will haste your party. Combined with radiant shield level 2-3, it makes you really tough. This combination is better than enduring barrier, haste, and blessing.

Nahs, an insane wizard is creating funny critters in his labs because he likes to make funny critters and they is escaping cause he is forgetful and doesn't remember to lock the doors. They kills him sometimes but he has a big room full of spares and when he dies his mind gets transferred to a new body.

The country side is having problems because the monsters is nasty. They hire a bunch of heroes but they keep on getting killed by the monsters.
They run out of heroes to hire. So they have conscripted a bunch of farm boys to take care of the wizard...

I is spamming.

Magi, you must have spent too much time in the noon day sun in Africa. Your brains got thoroughly cooked while you were doing biochemical experiments on baboons. When you sat down at your computer, some zombies grabbed them here zombies r' us . Now you are missing them. That is why you are seeking after Spy There's brains because vegetarian brains are so sexy. You have none. Chasing after teenage Archmagi's brains has made you even more confused.

Please go away.

Hi, all,
I know people have been writing test scenarios that are never going to be released regularly. I currently have two of them Battle Arena -- level 30-35 and Experiment level 1-1 .
I am interested in playing test versions of scenarios. I do not care if they are officially released, just if they are playable. The quirkier the better. I will not post these anywhere. Please send.

I believe Linux has programs which can emulate both windows and the mac. I think the program which emulates windows is called WINE -- I am guessing it is free. So, you probably can get both a mac emulation program and a windows emulation program. This would allow you to run all three types of programs.

Wow neat can I offer some suggestions.

1) The disco golem dance sequence. Great cut scene.

2) The attack of the giant hamsters. You must defeat the hamster queen to get the golden hamster "present".

3) The maze of gumbies. Lead the invulnerable gumbies to safety.

4) The elven ice cream hut. I want dingleberry rainbowberry vanilla fudge.

We must be ready to create the best of the bestest.

Economy of Rights not Ownership in General

Quite honestly, I think it stinks. People should be able to buy property and invest in it, especially the middle class. The key word is "own". There is no true free and clear holder with leasing. This is the cornerstone of the idea of the "American Dream". Without it there is very little reason to invest in the ideology of the American Dream. Leasing creates a kind of debt slavery. You get nice things to be a cog.

The only reason for doing this is to turn over property quickly. If you can find property that can be "fixed up", there is very little money up front required to buy what I would call "leasehold" property. The difference could be pure profit.

Leasing would be generally cheaper than renting because the owner doesn't take on the liability of fixing anything. Also it generally would be much longer term -- a 30 year interest only 200,000 mortgage runs about $690.00 a month -- this would cover a two bedroom house in many places. I think the same place would cost $1200 to rent in New York for example. However, it requires a much longer term committment. Suckers would fall for this because they would not think about property taxes or repairs to the building.
However, if the value of the property goes up and you could resell it quickly, it could be a good deal.

The crazy thing about a system like this is you could give everyone extremely nice stuff that was shiny and new, then make them liable for any damages they incurred.

There would be an illusion of incredible richness with permanent indebtedness. For the young and inept they would love it. But once you got older and had nothing and could barely pay it would be a messy hell.

I was looking through the advertisements today. I saw that you could mortgage a house and only pay interest on the house for 30 years. Thus you would have an interest mortgage-- this is cheaper than renting but not as effective as buying. Of course buying is completely out of the price range of large portions of the middle class right now. Owning anything outright is an expensive proposition. Pay no interest for 90 days, etc.

In a similar manner you can lease a Hummer or BMW for several years but not buy one because it is too expensive.

I can see a future where you pay interest on your house-- but never buy it, lease your car, lease your computer and other stuff because buying becomes prohibitively expensive. The only way to buy for the middle class would be to live in near poverty for a long time.

Big corporations would own everything and you would have the rights of use. This is especially true under the Bush administration-- you have very low interest rates, high amounts of debt, and extreme tax breaks for large corporations.

You could live quite well as long as you made your payments. But, if you had a catastrophic illness, or accident you simply wouldn't be covered and would be knocked out of the middle class.

Health care would be an investment for your future just like your social security. Those willing to take the most risk who succeeded would be the ones who were looked up to. The majority would fail.

Hi, all,
I like messed up games sometimes. The last one I played often was Pink Slip Panic. I recently found a new one here Kingdom Of Loathing
Sometimes it is enjoyable to play things that are just wrong. Anyone have a favorite.

Whether or not Arafat is dead is kind of a moot point. I hope his delusions from being almost comatose are pleasant. He is not in power any longer, and probably can't even serve as a figurehead (not figure) of state. If he was truly dead I am fairly sure it would be announced.

I am predicting by the tenth version it will be releasable and rate about 3.1-- 3.2 after a lot of reviews-- it could be kicked off and be rated 2.8-3.0. What it needs now is to be gone over for grammar, minor graphical bugs like the priest in the fire, item imbalances-- the eight bows in the first tower, strange statements, etc.

Mugwump snored deeply. Outside the slaves gathered the richness of the jungle floor. Healing herbs, greymold, and toadstools grew in abundance. Giant insect chitin was found occassionally which would shaped into bowls, boxes, and bangles. Some of the heavier chitin would be fire hardened, painted, and varnished then added as an outer layer to heavy chainmail.

Giant mushrooms and ferns were cleared from the path. Sometimes a darkwood tree would be felled, the chosen wood for troll bows. Occassionally a jewel beetle would be found and put in a small cage to be sold to troll children.

The slaves remained ever vigilant watching for giant insects coming from their jungle as well as their masters.

Having just finished version 8.0, the major problems have for the most part been fixed. There are however numerous minor details throughout. The whole thing needs to be gone over for spelling and grammar. Especially the section with Rolar-Tel.

There are some details that could be worked on-- item balance and distribution could be improved. It is a lot better. Also some things are slightly quirky. Efreeti are not Vahnati creations, etc.

Other than that I think it has improved enough to be in the solid table. It took eight versions. The first try was kind of mind bogglingly bad. I think there are some sections which are both interesting and enjoyable. You'll have to play to see them.

The armored troll grabbed him by the arms pinning him. The black armored troll roared "What is the meaning of this", spittle flying from his jaw.

Mugwump tensed. He did not know what to say.

The troll stared into his eyes. "What are you doing here?"

Mugwump went "uhh, trying to stay alive."

Troll, "You are impinging on our border outpost. I should have you chained and put to work with the other slaves."

Mugwump raised his right hand. A large gold seal ring with the face of medusa was on his third finger. It was his invisibility ring unactivated.

The trolls eyes widened. "What is a noble of the house medusa doing wandering in the insect jungles?"

Mugwump, straightened. "Heading toward home."

The armored troll muttered under his breath. He thought it is bad to have troll nobility around. If anything should happen to this trespasser, he would by flayed then immersed in a bed of acid.

He said. "There is a patrol coming in with fresh slaves from the conquest of the Nepharim village of High Mousekin. I expect you to be leaving when it arrives. Is that clear. You may stay in the guest quarters until they arrive."

"One more thing, declare any contraband. Trolls have been bringing outland poison into our realms. The punishment is chaining on the work gangs for not less than six months. Do you have any gremlin wine, poppy shrooms, skribbane, soporific herbs, or pixie dust upron your person?"

The alien beast started sniffing at him. Mugwump looked at it from the corner of his eyes. It had five rows of teeth, six clawed legs, and huge red glowing eyes. A black serpentine tongue lolled from its mouth.

Mugwump said "no" picking up his sack and heading for a small room in the corner of the tower. He slid the invisibility ring on top of the sack and twisted it. The sack became invisible and he slid it under the raised cot. He closed the door, barred it and pushed a chair against it. Then fell into a deep slumber.

Outside the insect jungle lay in wait. The trolls cracked the whips on the iron collared nepharim slaves as they cleared the jungle around the tower.

Several guards stood at the top of the tower. Peering out in the darkness looking for signs of an imminent attack. Recently, the aranea had allied themselves with null bugs, intelligent fire ants, and giant intelligent mantises. They could come pouring out of the jungle at any time.
