I don't think the Avernites had a revolution. A revolution implies that they formed a new kind of government. They just replaced the emperor with a kingship. So this is more like a rebellion with a king in charge. There is no indication of a new type of government other than the triad of mages-- and these really aren't government. The Vahnati seem to have the most advanced form of governance in exile a kind of oligarchy where you reach the top by being transformed into a superior crystalline being. Governance by mageocracy-- the most powerful and oldest mage or warrior makes it to the top. I think that the Sliths are basically tribesmen with a strong priesthood. I am not sure how their priesthood works in running things. However, their archpriest usually sits with the tribal leader. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. It is more like you took various Roman citizens and sent them to the mining town of Sardinia where they would slave in the mines for the rest of their lives which by the way did rebel against the Roman empire and was put down numerous times. I agree Australia would be a better example than the United States. They just updated the Baen Free Library on Ocotber 1, 2004 on the web and I am reading Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson from there http://www.baen.com/library/. Anyways back to the HLPM idea. Once my party reached level 64, the room for buying stuff stopped working in the HLPM. There really is no set of items to buy for characters after level 50 in the HLPM. It would be cool to see someone put together a new set of standard items for level 50 60 70 80. This will happen after Canopy and Lost Basshikva are put out. Also we do need completely new high powered monster sets after level 40. In the HLPM at 40th level the dragons were too easy to wipe out. There should be a creature set of superpowerful monsters level 50, 60, 70, 80. Things like Efreeti Lord, Haakai Master, Altered Null Bug, Dragon Lich, Medusa (like a basilisk with spell casting), etc. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Direct Democracy is only one vision of effective democracy. Elections don't work unless the voters are forced in a rather undemocratic manner to vote. This was true of ancient greece -- they tied up people in ropes which were dyed red to show they refused to participate in democracy. In a similar manner there should be a serious punishment for failure to vote. It is also a tremendous failing of the American system. We would not have these idiots in office if there was forced representation. A nonparticipatory democracy isn't a democracy. If everyone had to vote as a prerequisite to citizenship it would be a lot better in the United States right now. Also there is a terrible thing which is happening to who we get to choose. We might as well write Heinz on the forehead of Kerry and Enron on the forehead of Bush. It is impossible to remove an incumbent politician these days without massive wealth this goes all the way down to the level of mayors in major cities.
