He made his own, Marvin: Guy. You may include the characters of others in your posts as long as you don't take them over. If, for instance, I were to have your character kill the dog and run away so that its owner ends up running into Lisha, that would be a bit overboard. If Lisha were to come by and talk to your character and I had him stand up and go to her, that would be fine. How much control others are allowed over your character is basically up to you, as long as you're not an RP Nazi.

No reason to cut the RP off there, FF. Remember that some of the current participants may not stick around, and others may not contribute much to the story. I say if anyone else wants to join, go right ahead.

EDIT: Typo.

IC: She'd heard talk of the undead down below, of course, but hadn't given it a second thought. Warriors seemed to have a hard time laying themselves to rest, especially in the presence of strong magic. A quick blow or two in the right area and the repulsive creature would walk no more. She'd spent years training against the desert necromancers. With enough knowledge, any kind of magic could...

Magic? What kind of magic could be keeping this abomination from its grave? Lisha watched the suit of armor drag itself from the well and watched the calm demeanor with which the traveller approahced it. There were no obvious signs of necromancy, but something must be holding it together... With a half-hearted sigh, Lisha replaced her pouches and resheathed her daggers. She disabled the traps and descended the stairs, keeping the black cloak between herself and the tavern-goers.

A stately-looking woman in the corner caught her attention temporarily. There was a detached, disinterested air about her, and a bit of a chill. Not nearly powerful enough, though, Lisha thought. A quick scan of the remaining patrons revealed no better. Not here, then. Steeling herself against the cold northern air, Lisha swept through the doorway and made her way toward the well she had been watching. Aramite mages surely had their own distinctive style and could not be equated with those of her homeland, she knew, but where was the tingling of residual magic? Why could she not feel its effects? It was almost as if human magic had not created this particular abnormality.

Human magic...

Lisha surreptitiously palmed a heavy-hilted throwing dagger and moved quickly and cautiously through the crowd. This adventurer was an utter fool if he could not dispatch the monster before him with minimal effort, and she found it best not to assume a man was a fool until he had proven himself one. But she could not allow the skeleton to be disassembled, not yet. Human magic would surely leave its mark, but a demon's curse... if her suspicions proved veracious, this undead warrior could provide her first look into the power and the true nature of the creature Órloki. Taking care to attract as little attention as possible, she approached the newcomer and his prey.

A pair of dark, flashing eyes peered from among the foliage, now watching a peasant drive his pack animal out of town, now focusing on a group of children playing at war behind a thatched hovel. A cascade of ebony hair suddenly filled the air formerly occupied by the eyes of the observer as she stood silently and replaced the hood upon her head. She clutched the cloak around her lithe body and shivered. Two more years in this place, she thought, two more years, or else how long it takes me to fulfill my orders. All the more reason, then, to do so without delay...

A shadow appeared on the beaten dirt path, then quickly vanished. The watcher smiled. If anything positive could be said about this cold, dreary land, it would surely express the ease with which one could blend into her surroundings. It was no simple task to disappear against the flat sandstone walls of a Tass Shanti city, or among the shifting dunes in that Throne of the Sun, when one was being watched; but here, she knew, it would almost take more effort to make one's presence known than to hide from the gaze of the public eye.

Which effort she should make, however, was still in question. The Grand Lord of Tass Shanti, or the "Eastern Lands" as these uneducated lumberjacks refered to it, had summoned her into his presence with instructions to discover the truth behind the whispered rumors of Órloki and the legendary treasure of the foolish King Albert. Why he had chosen her, Lisha, of all his countless spies and assassins, she could only speculate. Bred of cold and pangs of hunger, her current theory was that the mysterious man despised her. He had declared his faith in her ability to find her own way to carry out his orders, but the pleasant glow of pride had given way to resignation and suspicion.

Sighing, Lisha chose a heavy stick from the fallen leaves and made her way toward the center of the village, staying in enough shadow to conceal her telltale dark skin and strong features, but not enough to arouse suspicion. The passing locals barely afforded her a second glance and a friendly smile, and were content to receive nothing in return. Only a weathered building was deemed worthy of such contortion on her part, and then the smile was anything but friendly.

Lisha quietly snorted in disgust as she entered the tavern. The pig emblem, she soon observed, was indeed fitting, although the wings betrayed a bit of wild optimism on the part of its carver. The curse of the north, thought Lisha, momentarily watching the barman fill the mug of an already tottering young drunkard. To allow oneself to be poisoned is careless; to poison oneself intentionally is the height of folly. Lisha moved to the bar, carefully imitating the earthy gait of the peasants she had observed outside, and waited for the tavern-keeper to come.

Several moments later she ascended the rotting staircase, stepping around the apologetic barmaid mopping the floor, and found her room. She entered, a long dagger held carelessly in her left hand as a matter of habit, and allowed the impatient boy in to light the lamp and the fireplace. Finally alone, with several layers of warped planks between herself and the self-styled gold-grabbing adventurers below, Lisha removed her faded black cloak and various sashes and belts.

I'll have to make do with what local plants I can find, she thought, peering into an oily pouch. There'll be no worthy substitute here, but one cannot expect to find the venom sacs of Tass Shanti serpents in such strange lands. If my dagger's wound is not so dangerous, its bite shall simply have to be deeper. And so, shivering against the cold, her door blocked and mildly trapped, Lisha settled herself on the straw tick and idly watched the monk outside through her darkened window.

Somehow I doubt that you mentioned the death of your dog specifically in order to get everyone's sympathy, but you have mine, regardless.

Oddly enough, Slp, there is no mention of input volume in the Sound section of System Preferences. I am using OS X.

Something like ten years ago I opened my closet door and saw what I was absolutely certain was a ghost (I called it a phantom) glaring down at me. I slammed the door shut, flew out of my room and out of the house, and just stood there in my yard trying to collect myself for a minute or two. It was several months before I worked up the courage to open the closet door again. To this day I have no idea what it was that I actually saw.

Coconut would be hopelessly overpowered by the other ingredients or I'd be all for it. Personally, I'm a fan of sausage and/or pepperoni, although any kind of meat that doesn't come from the sea will do. Hawaiian pizza isn't bad but I tend to keep fruit and vegetables off my pizza.

The best kind of crust depends on who's making it; I don't really have a blanket preference. I tend to like woodfired crusts more than others, and stuffed crusts don't appeal to me, but that's about it.

Web "anonymity" vs. real life identity in General

Personally, I don't care. My real life friends probably wouldn't recognize me online and vice versa, but that's not the result of an attempt to hide either identity; I simply type and speak in different manners. It shouldn't be too hard to find my name, my phone number, my address, etc. online, but who's going to use that information, and for what? If somone online comes to the wrong conclusion about me, so be it; it's not my intention, but I'm not going to change anything to avoid that. Really, I don't think that revealing my identity changes anything. Makes me less safe, maybe, but I can deal with that.

Although I really don't think this deserved a new topic, I voted for Unwell. It's a great song, not too difficult, but mainly dependant on the overall quality of the singer's voice rather than their range or flexibility.

I'll sing something if I can get my microphone to work...

Do you trust people? in General
Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!

I trust no one completely, and the only time I let my guard down is when I'm around close friends, exclusively. I think people tend to trust me but most of them don't really make use of that trust; it's kind of annoying, but I suppose it's safer that way. If they really need someone to trust, they know I'm here.

I tend to put far more trust in individual people than I put in people in general. I have little to no faith in the human race, but I generally trust people I see and talk to (to a point). Maybe I'm overcautious, but not without reason.

I certainly trust people in real life far more than I trust people online, though. ;)

Aaaaaa-men, brutha! Best pizza I've ever had is a tie between a local 50's style woodfire place, a backstreet woodfire café in Slovakia, and an Italian place down near NYC which claims to make original NYC-style pizza. Pizza Hut is the closest I've had to good pizza at a chain pizza place, and that's only because of its reckless disregard for the health of its customers. Anything else just isn't worth it.

Not bad, Stuggie. A guitar would've helped, of course, but you did very well without, and I guess it's not really necessary with such a well-known song...

Still having a bit o' trouble with the built-in mic... Audacity works, but I have to get close and use my stage voice to make it audible and that produces that wispy sound in Stug's recording but many times worse. Dolphin, do you know if there's any way to turn up the sensitivity?

Much better, Slp, you sound somewhat interested this time. :P

ADoS, you may not be the greatest singer now, but I really do think you've got potential. Voice lessons would help to bring that out, as would constant practice...

Morgan's accent is the least notable among those who actually have them, but it's still charmingly British. The more I hear these accents, the more I want to live in either the UK or Australia long enough to pick one up...
