There's a walkthrough named HINTS.txt in the scenario folder that includes instructions on how to find the triangles. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Well, we'd pronounce "au" and "aw" like the "or" in "born" (note that we don't pronounce the R in words like "born".) The "o" in words like "box" is a shorter, less rounded sound. I find it vaguely amusing that special abilities are being used mostly for preferences and other user interface improvements instead of scenario-related features. Not that it isn't usually a more productive use of them than the intended use, but still. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! As regards features lost from BoE to BoA, apparently dual-wielding was taken out mainly because it would require an extra graphics slot, and area-of-effect spells were taken out because BoA's targeting system doesn't support them very well (it requires a creature as a target, as you'll have noticed when trying to cast Cloud of Blades in BoA). -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! This has been discussed several times before. It's unlikely to happen, because it'd be a lot of work and wouldn't pay nearly as well as making a new game. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Well, the short answer is E3 won't run because it's too old. Have you tried using compatibility mode? That will probably help, but might not. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Er, I pronounce "Khoth" with an "o" as in "box". (And if you pronounce "box" as "bawx", I'm afraid I'm just going to have to start giggling helplessly.) -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:Well, the Fallouts come pretty damn close, especially Fallout 1. Winning Fallout requires completing two tasks which can be done in either order; everything else is optional (as long as you're able to finish fast enough, you don't even have to complete the mission you were given at the start of the game). The down side of this is that if you do in fact play the game this way, you'll miss most of its content, both in terms of plot and gameplay. Of course, it isn't sanely possible to scoot straight through to the end on one's first playthrough anyway. As far as I'm concerned, giving the player plenty of options isn't a bad thing by any means. On the other hand, it's neither the only way nor the easiest way to make an enjoyable game. The "wands" are the way to beat him. Use Naturshand if you have it. If not, kill some mages and check out the items they drop -- some can damage the boss. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Well, thinking about how a town supports itself is a good way to add individual flavour to it. The town sizes aren't too unreasonable; ancient Athens had a population of 250,000 at its peak. It's true that 1000 people isn't all that small a town, though. (Mind you, in a world where most people get around town by foot, the physical size of a city is at least as important a consideration as its population.) As for the practical use of the article, I'm not sure that telling people how to use information is a great idea; after all, what we all want to see is something we haven't seen before. Sometimes it's just good to give people something to think about. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Most designers are motivated to make scenarios mainly because they have a story to tell. To most designers, the plot is the important thing and the fact that others enjoy playing the scenario is incidental. Is it any wonder that they're willing to make sacrifices in other areas for the sake of telling the story they want to tell the way they want to tell it? I mean, really. The release of a scenario, even a mediocre one, is a service to the community, and one done with no compensation asked from those who stand to benefit from it. Is it too much to ask of you to let designers make the scenarios they want to make? -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
