Remember how the Nethergate FAQ proudly declared that Jeff had spent months researching the culture of the ancient Romans and Celts to make his game as historically authentic as possible? Sometimes I think Jeff is laughing at the old Jeff. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Well, sure, 32-bit is fine if you only want to make a monitor that's useful for modern humans. :P (Incidentally, bit depth isn't everything. Even the best monitors can't produce every colour that can be seen by the human eye, because the range of colours monitors can produce doesn't completely contain the range of colours humans can perceive. Adding finer distinction of shades of colour within that range doesn't really fix that.) ben, think about what you're saying. 256 possible values for each of R, G and B adds up to 256*256*256 = 16,777,216 colours. That's millions of colours, or 24-bit. Having 65536 different values for each colour would require a considerably greater bit depth. :P (EDIT: 48 bits, to be precise.) I imagine R100G100B100 would be a greyish colour. Perhaps Alorael meant to imply that Richard White is in fact Richard Grey? ... actually, that would explain an awful lot. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

A warning to prospective scenario designers may be warranted at this point. Bahss is pretty combat-heavy, and that's bound to get old sooner or later. Don't try and copy its formula unless you're sure you have something new to add. I liked Bahssikava, but I suspect I wouldn't like the 15th scenario that tried to be Bahssikava nearly so much. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I'd say that a difference of around 20% falls within the range of "about". [ Friday, August 26, 2005 15:18: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

The University of Melbourne. Where do you live? On orientation day we were told that Melbourne Uni has about the same population as Shepparton. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

The largest class I've ever been in had several hundred students (it was a second-year microbiology class that was open to both science and medicine students). The smallest regular classes I've been in had about 140 students (they were compulsory core subjects specific to the biomedical science course I'm taking). Last semester, I took a practical class (no lectures, just labs) with about 60 students. I'm also in one class with only 4 students, but that's actually a research project that I'm getting academic credit for, so it's not quite run the same way as an ordinary subject anyway. Incidentally, my university has about 34,000 students, all on one campus. [ Friday, August 26, 2005 14:34: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Any computer component with moving parts will fail fairly often. All disk drives have moving parts. Therefore, they will fail fairly often. Unless you have a good reason to suspect it's a software problem, it's probably a hardware problem and fixing it will involve replacing parts. Sorry. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
