ben, think about what you're saying. 256 possible values for each of R, G and B adds up to 256*256*256 = 16,777,216 colours. That's millions of colours, or 24-bit. Having 65536 different values for each colour would require a considerably greater bit depth. :P (EDIT: 48 bits, to be precise.) Apparently, the best we can have is 32-bit colour because we can't tell the difference for anything above that. At least, that's what I've heard. -------------------- Polaris - owns you. Undead Theories - double U slash E Posts: 3323 | Registered: Thursday, April 25 2002 07:00 |

Well, sure, 32-bit is fine if you only want to make a monitor that's useful for modern humans. :P (Incidentally, bit depth isn't everything. Even the best monitors can't produce every colour that can be seen by the human eye, because the range of colours monitors can produce doesn't completely contain the range of colours humans can perceive. Adding finer distinction of shades of colour within that range doesn't really fix that.) I have to say that we should definetely adopt a R256 W256 G256 colour scheme. Also portrayable as #rwrwrw. Also, brilliant if somewhat evil call. It's working normally for me, and from what I can see for others too. But if it happens often, maybe you reinstall your browser and try again? -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

I've been having intermittent problems with Polaris too, and I'm on the same ISP as Spring. It's likely a DNS issue. Yes, very true. But they're limp-wristed sissies compared to our guys. Blasters, schmasters! We're into high-focused personally-delivered multimegaton thermonuclear devices. [ Saturday, August 27, 2005 20:14: Message edited by: Icshi ] Posts: 907 | Registered: Monday, July 15 2002 07:00 |

Yea, but we can strap them to a nuke and shoot them out of cannons. They're there to make sure the nuke doesn't prematurely explode/get intercepted. -------------------- Polaris - owns you. Undead Theories - double U slash E Posts: 3323 | Registered: Thursday, April 25 2002 07:00 |
