New computers can't start up in OS 9, but if you have OS 9 installed you can still use Classic. Eventually, once Intel starts making chips for Apple, it's likely that Classic support will be dropped entirely. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:Partly there's the issue of bioaccumulation of heavy metals or other stable toxic substances in whatever they've eaten, but unless you are an Inuit you are probably not going to be exposed to enough of anything to have serious health effects by that route. And since nepenthes is a tropical plant, I suspect you're not an Inuit. (Besides, the above applies as much if not more to aquatic carnivores as terrestrial ones. The amount of mercury in flake is likely to be more of a potential health concern than any heavy metal or pesticide residues in a lion or wolf.) A more practical consideration is that because of their lifestyles, the muscles of carnivores tend to be low in fat and high in collagen, making them quite dry and tough. This is true to some extent of most wild animals (which is why game meats have to be cooked carefully), but it's especially true for carnivores. Yes. But assuming that your computer isn't so new that it didn't even come with Classic, waiting a minute or two for Classic to start up isn't that onerous. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

So if a back door is unrealistic, don't have them enter through a back door. Make the party build a tunnel under the fort or something instead. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Any item that has the Full Protection ability (including Rings of Resistance and Pachtar's Plate) will protect you from magic, fire, cold and poison. The protection is the same as what you'd get from other items that provide individual resistances. The effects of different items that provide resistance to the same thing don't stack, so you only need to wear one at a time. There are a number of ways to make an XOR gate. For example, four NAND gates (equivalent to an AND gate followed by a NOT gate, although usually it isn't really made that way) arranged like so: are equivalent to an XOR gate. (Actually, you can build any logic gate entirely out of NAND gates if you really want to. Sometimes it's the most practical way to do so, because it's actually quite simple to make a reliable NAND gate.) The best puzzle is one that makes sense in the context of the plot. Why does your plot require a puzzle at that point? -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Firstly, what SW is constantly tight on is server space, not bandwidth. (So we're told, anyway; it seems odd, but there you go.) Secondly, a new account probably takes up not inordinately more server space than this thread. In terms of overhead, there's the profile page and that's about it. Also, there have been plenty of people who left for months or years and then came back. You can get Wyrmslayer from the Bunker if you report that the dragons are responsible for the plagues. The other three are just high-value treasures which will randomly be dropped by powerful monsters. At least, the Flaming Sword and Boltblade are; I'm not sure if anyone's ever actually reported finding a Mace of Disruption. Specifically, every point of bonus is +5% to hit and +1 to damage. In general, the damage bonus is a lot more useful than the to-hit bonus, since it's relatively easy to get enough weapon skill that you hit all the time. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Natural Mage only gives a tiny bonus to spellcasting anyway. At level 1 it's significant, but it doesn't increase as you gain levels. (Note: this is based on my testing of the Natural Mage trait in BoA, but it probably works the same way in the series Avernums.) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Or it wouldn't be, except that there's no way to make an equippable item give you resistance to webbing. (On the other hand, there are ways to remove webs, but that doesn't help if you're already webbed into immobility. Just keep in mind that the special node to add and remove webs has a bug; if you try to add webs it removes them and if you try to remove webs it adds them. This isn't a problem as long as you remember it.) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:It's true that interferons stimulate the immune system, improving the effectiveness of the immune response against viral infections and some types of cancer. Unfortunately, they're not always effective, and they have fairly serious side effects. They also depend on the patient having a reasonably strong immune system; infants, the elderly, and patients who are already seriously ill tend not to benefit as much due to their weakened immune systems. My suspicion is that there are some terrain properties which automatically make a terrain look-at-able, overriding the te_can_look_at property. Try deleting lines one by one from the terrain definition and seeing if the terrain can still be looked at after each line is removed. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
