Yes when you order your license you can select a disk for 4 bucks on the standalone games, if you get the Avernum or Geneforge bundles the disk is included. I always get the disk, its relatively little cost and if you need to reinstall the game you don't have to request a new key. The disk games are pre-registered for your gaming enjoyment. I've always played the Avernum games primarily with a keyboard. Arrows to move, keyboard/number row for attacks, spells, getting items, etc. I find the mouse clunky to deal with in avernum, the keys are easy to memorize and once they are it's very easy to navigate. This was for A 1-3, A4 was a different beast I found myself using the mouse more, I'd prefer to use the keyboard however. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 alexkaltsas.com Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Jeff's background is in Macintosh programming. The games are created and programmed on a Macintosh platform and subsequently "ported" to Windows. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 alexkaltsas.com Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

I have both, In high school I primarily wore the contacts even though they bugged the hell out of my eyes (I already have dry eyes and contacts don't help). After I got to college, 5 minutes of putting in contacts turned into 5 minutes of extra sleep and since then I primarily wear glasses. If I'm going out for the night or something I'll still throw in the contacts. I find it's useful to have both and I use the contacts so infrequently that a years worth of contacts lasts me 5. Luckily my prescription hasn't changed in 10 years or so, hoping that stays true. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 alexkaltsas.com Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Not particularly an RPG, but Escape Velocity Nova is great for wasting hundreds of hours. There's even a windows version available. And the price is damn cheap for as much as you get out of it. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 alexkaltsas.com Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

I hated KOTAR with a passion. I love Linear RPG's. When they have a story I can get into of course, many do. To me it's almost like an interactive novel. I like it. I'm a livid reader sooooooo YMMV, but toss me into the good ol fashioned J-RPG linear crowd. In that vein I'm liking Blue Dragon. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

If I could understand what you are trying to say it might be a cool idea. At this point I would suggest going to your local library and picking up a book on grammar before you try to discuss scenario building. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Oh man can you use some proper grammar. I can't take much more of your uncapitalized letters. I can't understand most of what you are saying. "i just saying. i kinda somethines type wrong." What the heck is up with that, I can't even start to list the grammatical errors. Oy. Learn to write, writing skills will take you far in this world. I'm not trying to be mean but if that's how you articulate yourself you are going to be at a serious disadvantage in today's competitive society. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

While I'm not sure of the viability of this project I'll note that tons of successful podcasters use skype for long distance communication. All the TWITcasts are done over skype. I use it myself playing starcraft with the crew all the time. It's super easy to use, and just works over just about every connection known to man. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Big fan of the disks myself, no muss no fuss. Install and go. If there is ever a problem, or heaven forbid, Spiderweb were to cease business I still have easy access to the games for very little extra cost. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

There is a University in the UK that offers a degree in Surf Studies (the study of surfing). I'm pretty open about whatever your degree might be in but surf studies? I guess if you want to go into the surfing industry? MIght be a darn fun major though. http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/pages/view.asp?page=8741 -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

quote:My thoughts almost exactly, the degree and what it stands for are far more important than what you actually studied. Having a B.A/B.S. should prove to employers that you can think critically and have a firm grasp of information retrieval. Let's be honest, on the job you're going to have to look things up, but there are a lot of things you can do to ease that process and you should learn a lot of those processes in BA/BS setting. You're going to get a firm grasp on polishing your writing, thats going to give you a leg up on the person who doesn't have those skills. You should have skills on organizing ideas, researching them, and executing a project. The skills you learn in "liberal arts" are universally needed by almost all employers. These types of skills are difficult to learn once in a job, where as most jobs will give you job specific training. I can appreciate the view that you need those "job specific skills" from school, but I feel that the skills learned in the liberal arts are far more important and will broaden your job opportunities rather than limit them. Granted you'll need to know how to market those "liberal arts" skills to human resources, it's much harder to quantify those type of skills (writing, research, planning) than say, I know how to mill X part with a CNC unit. And I'll whole heartedly agree that there are certain career paths that defiantly require specific majors and training, especially those in the engineering fields. Having said that it's been my experience with several engineers I know that while they know their craft well they may have benefited from a bit more "liberal" training. Often times they seem have trouble articulating themselves, especially on paper. Mind you I'm sure there are a plenty good bunch of them that are very adept at writing. That's just a personal observation. I think I may have given the wrong impression of how I feel. I don't think that you shouldn't take career specific degrees, or that they shouldn't be there. Rather you shouldn't get pressured by family or society to get a "useful degree". There seems to be a perception from much of society that certain degrees like "liberal arts" are useless and that's simply not true and almost any degree can provide a multitude of career paths. A thing to remember in college is to partake in a multitude of activities including part time jobs. These can provide necessary "real world" experience, as well as great opportunities for networking. Employers love to see extra activities, and besides you never know if that guy in the Climbing club or whatever will be the next big millionare! Heck, networking can be just as important, or more so, than having all the skills in the world. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

If I may make a suggestion to all the budding university students out there. Study what you want, don't succumb to the my parents say I should do this or well I need to do that to get a career BS. In my many years of schooling (5 and a half) I switched majors half a dozen times, and took tons of classes I didn't really need from Media classes to business classes. But I always liked my History classes, so I ended up settling on History and graduated last December with a Degree in Social Sciences/History. What do I do? I'm a tech guru at a small private college. Confuses the heck out of these conformists that think you gotta do this linear path of school>career>retirement. Enjoy your college career, if you don't like your classes I say take something else. You only get to live through it once. To the individual interested in English, I implore you at some point to take the plunge and do it. Even if you gotta do the dressmaking to pay the bills, keep your mind nimble with whatever you enjoy. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Comes standard USPS, depending on your distance from the west coast, 2-7 days I would imagine. I think it took 3 days to get to me in Iowa. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

Having not played Exile 3 extensively, nor in probably 10 years I'll have to go Avernum. However I am considering picking up the Exile Trilogy since I have sheepshaver working now. And if nothing it will round out a complete collection of Spiderweb Games. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 alexkaltsas.com Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

The key is generated from your installation. Even if someone were to give you a key, it would be useless to you. On that note, talk about Grade A dumb, come to the developer's site looking to pirate the developer's game. If you can't afford 25 bucks to play the game, you don't get to play the game. Thats the way the world works. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

I can't get enough of this game. It's moody, artistic, smooth as butter, and creepy as hell. It's like the perfect adventure game melded into a shooter. It's been raining nonstop for the past week here in Iowa so I curl up on the couch, crank it up, and sit in the dark and play the night away. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

I checked out their site, I'm on a Mac but their credit packages for games aren't too bad on the pricing. Depending on what package you have Kat Zarai probably got the game at a significant discount. And who can argue with saving money. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |

He already prints disks, you can order them from the website (I do, Just like to keep them around for some reason). I don't see a benefit to porting them to XBLA the games are designed for a keyboard and I don't think it would translate well to a controller. The games are lightweight enough that any computer made in the last 10 years should be able to run them so I don't think there is anyone that's really clamoring for a console version. There's a lot of expense involved in developing for XBLA anyway, plus clearing MS anyway (they have full control over what is released on XBLA). I for one thought the game was fantastic, having never played it back in the day and the old version being ill-compatible with my intel Mac. I'm one of those that enjoys the Blades engine so I found it to play well for me. The story and quests are hands down some of the best in all of the Spiderweb games. The ability to play both sides of the story, the emotion and the contrasts make for an experience you'll find in few other games. The price for N:R is reasonable and the upgrade price for original owners is ludicrously cheap, literally less than I paid for dinner last night. If liking N:R makes me a sucker then label me a Grade A. -------------------- http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/join.asp?idr=412684821 Posts: 145 | Registered: Sunday, February 18 2007 08:00 |
