Then those, too, would inevitably be circumvented. A certain level of piracy is, in the end, inevitable with most game distribution methods. In the end, a balance needs to be struck between encouraging people to pay for your game and not putting cumbersome restrictions on those who would legitimately buy your game. While this seems to be overly pragmatic, in that you are allowing some piracy to go on, as Alorael said, a good portion of those who would pirate a game are unlikely to have purchased it if piracy was impossible. Alright. Well, new question. Would anyone be unable to show up if I held it at 1 PM (EST) on Monday? If a sufficient number of candidates have obligations for then, it can be rescheduled. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Well, um. I'm going for irc.esper.net #modchat sometime this week - perhaps a different room, depending on how things turn out, but esper.net for sure. Any candidates here have a preferred date/time, or barring that dates/times that they wouldn't be able to make it? Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

While it might be a minor inconvenience for some of you, and I haven't seen the Lyceum's live chat client, I'd like to propose that this debate be conducted over IRC. It's a much better chat client than AIM simply because it allows moderated chats, which would allow anyone who wanted to attend, not just the candidates. That said, I'll likely be available tomorrow to oversee this if it happens on IRC and Drakey can't attend. I've got experience in officiating these sorts of things, at least. There's no need to get worked up over this. The greatest task of a general forum moderator is to keep the peace, and that should start within yourself and your posts. So please, keep things civil. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Um, yeah. The funny thing about this is that it looks like a mod edited his first post, when none actually did. Well, not much to say here. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

The sad thing is, I got most of TM's. #1 - The main girl of Narutaru, riding on Hoshimaru #2 - Edward Elric, from FMA #3 - Some dead girl. Whoops. Didn't get this one. #4 - Ebichu. x_x #5 - A red X. Didn't get this one, but TM failed it anyway. #6 - That thing from Azumanga Daioh. #7 - PenPen, from NGE #8 - ...no idea. Whoops. For Khoth, um... No idea for the first bunch, then Yomiko Readman of Read or Die and Kino of Kino no Tabi. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Hm, well. I generally like mecha anime, and will at least watch most of it. (and VWM, I enjoyed Gundam Wing a lot, so shame on you :P ) For non-mecha stuff, I have to say that Gantz was pretty darn good. Maze and Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan are at least amusing. Oh, and I liked Angelic Layer and Saiyuki, when I saw them. Yeah, that should probably cover my tastes in anime. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

The CoC's wording is sufficiently confusing that a good amount of posts that aren't breaks of any sane CoC could be rigidly construed as such. However, none of the moderators actually lock threads for that. For practical purposes, these forums are run under a fairly boilerplate code of conduct. Aside from the usual prohibitions against being spammy, offensive, or stupidly off-topic that are on almost all moderated forums, the Spidweb boards only have two rules (as of my memory at the time of this post) that stand out: Don't talk about pirating Spidweb games. I mean... these are the company's message boards. Don't do it. It's dumb. :P Don't call for anyone who hasn't done something glaringly offensive to leave the boards, or to be banned. Don't call for moderators who haven't done something glaringly offensive to have their moderator status revoked. For an example of glaringly offensive, look at EraserHead. --- To answer the topic creator's question, canned is one letter away from being banned, and TM would be wise to remember this. :P Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I used to quite enjoy MUDding (around 1999-2001), but playing Runescape is somewhere down there with doing harm to your genitals with a rusty spoon in fun factor. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Shin Masoukishin: Panzer Warfare. Only saying this because I'm playing it now, but if there's something that can suck about a game, this game tries to have it. Horrible 3D graphics, painful load times, slow gameplay... ugh. I'd go in to why the game itself hurts, but in short, copyright issues forced the game designers to cut out 98% of stuff related to the game world the game was supposed to be set in, so it's set in the world of La Giars... which has somehow gained a completely new geography, political map, and cast since the last games involving it. --- Huh. Now that I think about it, I'd nominate Empire of Magic for being an actual bad game - and, possibly, one that people other than myself have played. In essence, it's a strategy game with the most boring battles possible. In fact, in an Empire of Magic battle, usually only one side will be at all capable of taking any action. The other side will just sit there and take any and all punishment. And yet they have turn-based battles with initiative and a speed system for switching off turns when that never happens. Also, it takes fifty turns to get anywhere. Blargh. [ Friday, June 03, 2005 22:18: Message edited by: Imban ] Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I suppose that, given everything, it doesn't really matter. JadeWolf, you've learned your lesson either way. If you did it, don't do it again or you will certainly take the blame. If you didn't do it, don't let your cousin do it again, or you will certainly take the blame. My apologies, Hawk King, for having not resolved this sooner. JadeWolf, I'm not quite sure that excuse is going to cut it. Would you be so kind as to explain to me why the following three things are true? 1) Your cousin wants to spam on a random forum that he has, most likely, never heard of. 2) You posted within two minutes of your supposed cousin and then he posted within three minutes of your doing so, and then posted again eleven minutes after he did. 3) Your cousin would, following his random act of spamming, blame this on Hawk King. I look forward to your response. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

What that half of Creator said pretty much holds true. Mods aren't necessarily the most popular or wise people. They're just the people who stop the forum from going to blazes. :P [ Tuesday, May 31, 2005 21:30: Message edited by: Imban ] Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |
