No problem. quote:Exactly. The entire Geneforge series treats wands as a primary weapon. When Avernum 4 was blended with the Geneforge engine, this facet remained in effect for all combat wands. Wands take up the primary weapon slot in A4. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Please rate these scenarios at the CSR after playing them! Wands go in the weapon slot. If you already have a weapon like a sword or a spear equipped, you'll have to remove it before equipping the wand. If that doesn't work, make sure you aren't trying to equip a beneficial baton. Those are used in the inventory rather than being equipped. That said, anyone can wield a wand. AMEND: What Iffy said applies if you're playing any other Avernum game currently released. [ Monday, September 10, 2007 15:43: Message edited by: Nioca ] -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Ugh. This Gene Ray guy's either some sort of cult leader or needs to visit a mental hospital; Maybe both. But you can see where he breaks from the ranks of the mentally sound if you look carefully. Namely, all the spots where he starts ranting that everyone is evil and will be destroyed by Cubic what-cha-call-it, or the points where he's swearing himself into incoherence and calling himself 'most cubic and wisest human'. At some points, he even contradicts himself. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Please rate these scenarios at the CSR after playing them! Question is, what does he consider stupidity? Back on topic, and in a desperate attempt not to let this delve into the murky waters of newb/noob bashing and baiting (and the depravity and despair that results), I can see that it's a good thing that I was not around for Misc. That looks worse than any spam forum I've ever seen. Of course, that doesn't say much, but even the Roost's spam forum is cleaner than that. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Do you mean the apprentice Shaper that summons stuff? You have to hit him with everything you have before he can obliterate you. If you mean that there's eight Shapers there, then there's something wrong with your game. There should only be three or four, not counting the warriors. But if you met the Drakon, the way should be clear except for the aforementioned Shaper. [ Friday, September 07, 2007 11:39: Message edited by: Nioca ] -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! A small snap echoed to the bartender as he approached an elderly Aesin who was drowning his sorrows in Aesinian ale. He poured the man a drink, then went back to the rack where he kept the bottles of waiting alcohol and selected a particularly vicious-looking one. He brought it back to the man who had made the bid for the drink, where he found several small coins lying on the counter. The man thanklessly took the drink and downed half of it with a single swig. He then returned his attention to the bottle-rack, staring one down almost as if it had done him some unknown wrong. There was the sudden tinkling of a bell, and Marxis stared more fixedly at the bottle for a second. The reflection shone briefly, and then vanished. It was enough for him, though. He watched the Aesin's progress through a mirror behind the bar. Eventually, he choose a small table in the corner. Marxis waited. He was sure this was the man who had wanted to meet with him, but he wanted to make sure he wasn't followed. So Marxis continued to wait. After half-an-hour or so, the man got impatient. "Typical. No, frickin' wonderful. I finally get someone skilled enough, and he's decided not to show." The man made to stand up. "One must be careful, Povell," Marxis said quietly, seating himself across from the man. He was short and plump, looking like something that had been compressed by an elephant. However, he also wore the robes of someone who knew money, and lots of it. "And late. Didn't I promise good pay, Helios?" Povell asked. After further thought, he added, "And how do ya' know my name?" "I already answered both. Only an amateur or a fool would openly greet the interested party. The latter are in the business for but a short time, if you catch my meaning." Marxis watched his quarry carefully, amused at both the use of his street name and the expression on Povell's face. It wasn't everyday that you learned that the person you were trying to hire has been spying on you. "Well I'm not comfortable with this... place," Povell said delicately, "and I'd prefer to conclude our business quickly." "Really?" Marxis said, falsly incredulous. "I was under the impression that you came here almost daily. And not because of the liquor." Marxis glanced at a nearby pillar, which had the figure of a succubus carved at the top. Povell shook his head. "Anyway, I'm looking for someone to recover an Aesin artifact from someone who doesn't know or understand it's worth. A gold ring, one that's not particularly pretty, but it's a piece of Aesinian history. I'll pay well for it to be placed in my possession." "How well?" Povell was silent, then pulled a large sack of gold from under his coat and set it on the table. "This should be sufficient." Marxis looked at it carefully, then opened it. He shuffled a few of the gleaming gold coins inside the sack. He eventually closed it again and leaned back to survey Povell again. "This is quite a bit of gold for the simple matter of getting a trivial item. What's the catch?" "It's location is a bit... tricky. It's in the Havior mansion, and I think you know where that is." Marxis sighed as he thought about it. A blatant foray into hostile territory was not what he had in mind. But, it was still a living. "Fine. Expect the relic tomorrow." Marxis got up and left the tavern. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Please rate these scenarios at the CSR after playing them! Name: Marxis "Helios" Ciotha Occupation: Freelance work, of a less-than-legal nature. Prefers transfer of exotic goods. Race: Aesin. Height: 6'1''. Weight: ~140 lbs. Age: 24 years. Eye color: Bright gold. Apparel: Generally wears the dark and dramatic cloaks of those involved with shady business. Current Condition: Reasonably healthy, but recovering from recent illness. Marxis has been working the darker sides of the Aesinian Kingdom for sometime. He was born and raised in the Meher Empire by his Aesin parents, now deceased. Despite his Aesinian descent and Meherian life style, he considers his loyalty only to himself. His most recent assignments have been on the Aesin/Meher border, where a new smuggling ring is emerging. Marxis hopes to take advantage of the new situation, giving both sides what they need (and earning a retirement fund in the process). His recent attempts at exploiting the recent conflict has lead him to Somala. Being a city of two divided races, it's a natural highway for contraband. However, Marxis has also heard that Somala is also home to several crime syndicates, which he'll have to tread around lightly. His exploits in the Kingdom have earned him the nickname of Helios. Through a combination of brains, brawn, an uncanny knowledge of Aesin anatomy, and sheer dumb luck, he's managed to evade the law and remove almost all traces of his identity. As such, he's currently one of the most mysterious figures in the Kingdom, and his exploits have even reached Meher ears. He relies on stealth to carry the day, but will frequently use poison and trickery should the job or his life depend on killing someone. He also carries what he claims to be a set of heirloom scissors with gold handles, but the scissors actually separate into a set of serrated battle knives for a situation from which he can't get away cleanly. He's known for ingenuity. Marxis has a few moral lines he'll refuse to cross, but if the price is right, you can get him to do almost anything else. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! It won't wreck the save file if you're on Windows (I'm not sure about Mac). You can apply a trick that'll load your party outside of the scenario. Simply bring up the character editor and try to load the party. You should get an error and it'll kick you back out of the character editor. However, your party should still be in the game's memory, and you'll be able to enter another scenario. Save once you enter another scenario, and the problem's fixed. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Please rate these scenarios at the CSR after playing them! The idea is that you can get through the game without attacking anything. quote:Before eating the fruit, they were like children. In fact, God frequently references that humans are his children. Children can easily be led astray by outside influence. Tell me, do you know anyone who'd punish a child with death for taking a small step out of line? It does happen, but not frequently. And those that do it are generally not perceived as holy, fatherly figures after it happens, once everyone learns about it. Your message is that God is a loving being; doesn't love involve forgiveness? GE 6:11-17, 7:11-24 God is unhappy with the wickedness of man and decides to do something about it. He kills every living thing on the face of the earth other than Noah's family and thereby makes himself the greatest mass murderer in history. Murder is unlawful killing. God does not murder. As the Sovereign Lord and Judge of the universe he has the right, even the obligation, to get rid of wickedness. Otherwise he is wicked.[/quote] This might be plausible if he didn't cause so much collateral damage. How many innocent bystanders did he annihilate when the flood came? The bystanders I refer to are the animals who couldn't know or understand wickedness, and perhaps a few men who were not wicked. If God does not commit murder, than the floods could not have come. If the floods came, which you claim, then God committed murder. quote:So he killed, no , murdered 70 people for doing something they were unaware of being wrong. You can't have it both ways. The only way God can be the ultimate being of love and commit mass-murder is if he loves homicide. quote:First, I'd again like to point out a lovely little word that keeps cropping up here: Murder (which God supposedly does not do). Besides, wouldn't it have been more appropriate (not that it's appropriate by any means) to go after the ones who taught them the disrespect? quote:Here's yet another account of God committing murder. For a being that doesn't commit homicide, he certainly has a lot of bodies piling up at his feet. -------------------- Scenarios need reviews! Engine differences aside, it's a trade-off. BoE scenarios are easier to design, take less time, and take less effort to make a decent scenario. BoA, on the other hand, is far more flexible and powerful. Furthermore, more utilities are coming out to make BoA scenario design easier. -------------------- Hz'ii'zt a'iiencf coxnen a'bn'z'p pahuen yzpa'zuhb be'tt'phukh'kn az'ii'ova mxn't bhcizvi'fl?
