There is some mentions in A3 about both sets of adventurers having missions, but nothing definite. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Magma Dragoon (renamed Guardian Magma) left to study and play Geneforge 1 and 4. I thought that he would be back by now. You really have to watch PDN changes. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Iraq used to have the 4th largest army in the world. Israel doesn't come close, especially compared to all the countries near it that are somewhat hostile. The first Arab-Israeli war had 20 Arab countries sending troops. Besides army size is meaningless in a missle war. All that matters is number, damage, and targeting capabilty. Anyone catch Chirac's (France) comment about how Iran would be leveled if it tried to launch a nuke? Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Demonslayer does extra damage versus demons, but there are plenty of other nice weapons. Especially since in Avernum 1 it is two-handed. The only place it is really worth it is the big fight with Grah-Hoth. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

In between reloads try using multiple piercing crystals. I don't remember if Exile works like Avernum where multiple uses increase your chances. Now you know why people use mages for singleton games. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I wouldn't recommend removing the operating system. It was just back in the early 80's the chief wish was that there was an alternative operating system that took up less memory so that more could be done with the hardware. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Also there was supposed to be a discount for the new version of Nethergate when released if you bought the current version. Kind of a gift to those who thought it was worth buying. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Actually in some ways Iraq is worse than Vietnam. We went to Vietnam to stop the spread of communism as part of the domino effect. Our pulling out devastated the region since the communist regimes destroyed their economies and slaughtered the people. It has finally moderated and returned to a viable area. Iraq would be come the terrorist ideal state. Plenty of natural resources (oil) that would finance terror and be used for trade with China and other countries for support and weapons. A large population that now really hates the US for the chaos will provide plenty of new recruits. It would be worse than Taliban Afghanistan which relied on poppies to raise money for drugs. Bush got us into a mess that needs to be solved and not abandoned. But without a strong central government to disband the militias we will have the warlords and terrorists running things. Bush hasn't learned from Afghanistan where the government only controls the areas near the capital and along connecting roads. The outer provinces are almost independent especially near Pakistan. Bush wouldn't care about public opinion if he seized power because his advisors wouldn't let him hear negative reactions. Remember the shocked expression he had at Coretta Scott King's funeral where he was booed by mourners. He usually goes to friendly events where he meets loyal supporters. Congress is now considered hostile territory. [ Thursday, February 01, 2007 21:36: Message edited by: Randomizer ] Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Mung demons did the same thing as gazers in some games. I used to send my spellcasters in retreat since they can heal, bless, and haste at any distance. Being able to raise dead characters should have a financial cost so you have to choose between raising a dead party member or reloading and replaying a difficult fight. If the Democrats hadn't retaken the Congress, I'm sure some one in the White House was considering how Bush could have suspended the presidential election through an executive order. After all he could believe it was in the best interests of the country that he stay in charge to stay the course. Even if this would be the first time that a war president stayed past his term. Bush still could do this by declaring martial law, but I think he wouldn't last more than a few days before someone got him. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

It's mostly Microsoft that makes technology become outdated so quickly. Just look at the requirements to run Vista on an older system. Even back when Microsoft was first selling operating systems the complaint was that an IBM PC could do so much more if the space wasn't tied up using Microsoft DOS. I listened to an IBM salesman showing off a new product and he was doing great until he had to mention how much memory was used to run it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Essence is the only stat that doesn't comeback with time. Spell energy returns. Although if you are doing a lot of spellcasting you might want to occasionally use essence pods to speed up the process in major fights. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

All those whips and shackles that are left lying around will go to waste. Negative reinforcement training is the fastest way to teach someone. The Trakovite way will stop new shaping. Existing creations that can reproduce get to survive. So there would be more drayks, drakons, gazers, eyebeasts, and similar but no more rotgroths after they acidify. Goblins always survive. Play Nethergate to see why. The other animals may not be native to the areas that we get to see. The Empire is pretty good about eliminating what it considers undesireables. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The lucky charm is in the building in the last room that you can reach from the entrance. It's on the table to the west in the room with 2 power spirals. You might have picked it up and sold them since they look like dice. The cryoa charm is for slaying the Radiant Cryoa that hides in the area south of the exit to Sandros Mines. You get the message that you feel like you are being watched when it isn't there. It doesn't show up right away so you probably didn't come back to check for it. Avernum 5 is supposed to be out at the end of 2007 depending upon when Jeff gets around to writing it and how much beta testing it needs. After Avernum 4 there will be a lot of criticism from regulars if they don't like the plot. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I know of a case where a professor plagarized a student's research and got away with publishing it. It happens more than you would suspect because a student doesn't have much support in getting justice. But if you want an expert's opinion then there is no better than Tom Lehrer. In Geneforge 3 and 4, dexterity also helps with crystals and other missle weapons. You can always cache javelins to keep your encumberance down to a manageable level. Just retreat along a cleared route to go back and get more as you need them. It makes a difference when the creation you face goes down after one or two attacks. In 1985 the research lab I was in still had its IMSAI 8080 for most computing and gaming needs (someone had loaded an Adventure type game onto a floppy). IBM PCs were still relatively new and then mostly used for word processessing and games. I still remember spending hours with a monochrome green or amber screen and trying to differentiate colors as different shades. Also having to test out color utility programs to find which ones would allow us to play color computer games on a monochrome screen. Somewhere I still have the obsolete list of which one would let someone play Flight Simulator. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
