Apparently, as of this morning, there are now 8000+ users in the boards. I was simply curious whether this constitutes an celebration/torment of the new arrivals.

(Edit: Does this mean we won't have 6 more weeks of winter?)

For a second, I was confused because I knew that you didn't have anywhere near 8000 posts. So...

I think this means we get six more months of spam.

We always get six more months of spam. :P

(At least member 8000 doesn't look like a adbot.)

But neither have they posted anything. I doubt he/she even knows we are talking about him/her.

Edit: Upon taking a look at member 7,000, I noticed something interesting. Although this individual has a mere 98 posts (still higher than mine, sadly), the picture, AIM, and Homepage seemed rather familliar. Almost as though someone with a much lower number had attempted to attain that spot at the last minute... Pure fancy of course. I've given up on my conspiracy theories.

But he does look like one of those zero-posters. Those are the worst in my opinion, especially when they have interesting profile information.

No, it's Imban. Just like everyone else.

No, the newest member feature is off because of deleted accounts.

I wonder who member 10,000 will be.

Will s/he be a spambot? Will s/he be an alternate account of a member already present? Will s/he be just a regular user? Will s/he be another active member? Or will s/he be the next great scenario designer?

OH THE SUSPENSE

EDIT: And now I'm a swashbuckler!

Time gone, the discrepancy was around 8-9 members. Then Stareye began deleting adbots.

I intend to snag #10000 as well. Failing that, #9999 is a pretty good consolation prize.

(Incidentally, #7999 is also mine, since I got sick of waiting for someone else to register it.)

Given what UBB did when it got a thread with over 1000 posts, it is a little disconcerting to see the user numbers get to the point of adding another digit.

Sadly, number 666 has only made two posts. I must, thus, assume that the idea of snagging the best numbers must have come about sometime after 1000. Oddly, most of the big posters don't seem to have such special numbers. Even when they snag one (Such as Tyranicus' 7000), they don't seem to use it. What, then, is the purpose of such an action?

I beg to differ, but Tyran did use 7000. He used it mostly for the contest judging, so you may not have noticed as much. He's not using it now, but I'm sure he will again later on.

You get a free spam about it.

Does anyone know what the member limit number is for UBB? I would hate to find out that 10000 is the Y2K for the board. We have enough weird things happening with regular internal server errors.

I'm going to venture a wild stab in the dark and guess that member 10000 will not be the next great scenario designer. It'll probably be an adbot. Or Tyran. Or both.
