Buying in bulk offers some savings. You can get the entire Geneforge 1-3 for less than individually. Geneforge 1 and 4 have the best plots, but the interface improves as the series progresses. It's a continuing storyline, but you can start anywhere. Nethergate: Resurrection is an update to modern computers of the original with 2 new dungeons added and some more features. Avernum 4 is a new game engine but a mostly recycled plot from Avernum 3 and graphics from Geneforge. Avernum 2 is better. Avernum 5 is in developement and looks to be somewhat better than Avernum 4. Haven't seen enough to compare to Avernum 2. Jeff is moving away from letting people wander whereever they want. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Considering that they are a bunch of thieves they are touchy about stealing. They stay hostile for a long time so don't take any missions back there. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Some of the Avernum games have the merchants pay different prices to buy, but this isn't true in Nethergate. It better to just use save and reload than to use the crystal charm and shield that are worth selling. Also charm beast will stop a monster from attacking so you can hit it safely. Great for groups of basilisks. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Avernum 1 is limited to 40. The others have higher limits that shouldn't be reachable during a real game. When you saw that you were creating a poll, you should have cancelled the topic and started over. This isn't an opinion question. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There are the quicksilver armors that add action points that are usually considered better later on in the game. Geneforge 4 is the first game that removes quests that aren't going to be finished either because two non player characters ask for the same thing or like in Avernum 4 where the leaders of rival towns want you to assasinate the other. There is a huge discount for owners of the original game. Avernum 5 seems to have answered most of the criticisms of Avernum 4. It at least has a mostly original plot. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

To speed up creating the game, Jeff used as much content from the original game. He added new features with the update like 2 more much harder dungeons, new quests, trainers for skills, new items, and new graphics. Resurrection refers to the revival of what was an essentially dead game that had few new players buying it. Sales have justified doing it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Are you sure that the dead fairy is important? Gaitlan is imprisoned in the southwest and I got him out much later in the game. Sure there were some stone guardians in the way, but you are eventually strong enough to handle them. There is a dead wolf in the north prison that is not the one you want. To reduce damage on the opening stone across the lava, go into fight mode after searching the body. The other party members can retreat using wait commands so only the first member takes damage. No exchanging places onto the burning lava. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
