Actually in GF1 missle weapons skills are supposed and do add damage with crystals. I raised the damage for Icy Crystal from around 40 to near 100 by going from 3 to 10 in missle weapons. Swarm crystals went to near 200 which meant that 2 of them would kill almost anything in 6 action points, I just used them for the Guarded Dock to see what different endings would be like. It's easy to explain the dating of ancient cultures. The basis for the dates is usually carbon-14 dating and the creationist claim is that the ration of carbon-14 to carbon-12 is not constant over time. So these old dates are actually incorrect. They use the same arguement for other radioactive dating including that atomic bomb testing has contaminated the samples, Now when you use tree ring dating to build your chronology as the Tree Ring Laboratory at the University of Arizona do as an alternative they have a greater problem. There the overlaying of hundreds of tree records has been cross checked with carbon dating. But when God is on your side you can always find an explanation. Didn't you watch The Simpsons last Sunday? I found in GF1 that raising missle weapons to 10 made all the crystals more effective. As an agent they did about 2/3 the damage of battle magic spells in less action points. The swarm crystals that you could make in the mines were a very effective way to remove groups and more likely to hit than searing orbs. I will try this when I run a shaper because I want to do more than direct traffic for creations and power them up. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

They may be related, but it's not likely that they came from Sucia Island. They are more likely related to those on the mainland. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I got 56k dial up and was lucky to get A4 downloaded in 70 minutes. It might have been slower since I was looking at the boards at the same time to keep the file from stopping. If I don't check it can stop after 10 minutes. I dread the 6 plus hours to download the update to my operating system from Apple. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
Obeyer Ending in Geneforge Series

There are different Obeyer endings. If you use the Geneforge there is war. Depending upon whether you destroy the Geneforge or not there will be more like you or just you versus the Shapers. Either way the Awakened do well, the Obeyers are cannonfodder for the war, and the Takers go into hiding after getting worn down. If you destroy the Geneforge without using it then the Shapers destroy the Sholai who used cannisters and the Takers. The Rebel Sholai get to go home in peace and become trading partners. The Awakened go into hiding and the Obeyers come out on top. There are more versions that I haven't tried. Was Russia's occupation of Eastern Europe after WW II justified? in General

It's easier to examine something long after it happens. By then the "facts" are usually known or at least some of the participants have released their versions of the event. It wasn't justified, but the division of Europe was decided by the victors at the conferences before World War II ended. The West were willing to cede the region to the Soviets in order to get help. They hoped that the Soviets would soak up enough damage to weaken them and the Germans. Great Britain and France got control of the Mideast after WWI for a while before giving the world that mess with their decisions on how to divide it. After WWII the creation of Isreal was encourage by Stalin because it distracted Britain and France. I suppose we could move the debate to the present on whether this would prove to be a justification for Isreali control of the West Bank as a defensive area since it was actually attacked repeatedly. At least the Soviet control prevented most of the ethnic cleansing until the fall of communism. Of course that doesn't excuse all the murders committed in order to control the area. He is Ornk Lord. Think Slith Avatar level from Avernum in terms of power. Even the rogue ornks are nasty if you let them swarm you. I got nailed twice before I defeated him. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Sorry MM*, it's the multiple accounts that confuse me. I have enough trouble with the changing PDNs. I've gotten to the point of using member numbers, titles, and signatures to ID people. When you use a different account I don't recognize you as well. I don't usually look at profiles. I see your other account now. Did you ever get your beer? There are always tradeoffs in games. I've read some FAQs for Elder Scroll games before Oblivion that hated the gain skill improvements by repetition. They had examples of stupid actions like hopping around to build up peripheral skills when traveling. You get used to the system and work out how to get around limitations. I nailed the worms with my singleton. I think I used area spells like divine retribution and lightning spray while hasted and blessed. Just keep blasting until you've cleared the whole area before leaving combat mode to loot. quote:That problem with demons was addressed in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Ed. They changed the names but kept the monsters. I loved the Knights of the Dinner Table issue that had the Dieties manual withdrawn for having God's stats included. The players had a copy that had the information and were calculating if their characters could beat God. Now that would be a real problem. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The only gripe I had about A2 that was fixed in A4 was in combat you no longer needed to delay your actions. Being the last person to cast haste/slow makes no difference in A4. A2 has a better plot and is more fun to play. Even knowing the plot from Exile 2 it was a blast. I did wish the final battle with Garzahd was a good as E2. GF1 - Playing without cannisters in Geneforge Series

I just finished Geneforge 1 and was wondering if anyone has played the game without using a single cannister or just 1 cannister from the first 2 areas? I can see a guardian being able to get through even on Torment. An agent can get by with just the firebolt cannister or wait to the Ruined School since he is almost a guardian in fighting ability. A shaper would have trouble with just a fyora as the only creation type. If anyone has done it what did you play and what level of skill? Also is there a different ending? You might have one or two spells that are exclusive to a class. I doubt Jeff would want to do even that much extra work. Most people probably wouldn't use the extra spells unless there was a way to break the game with them. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Just be sure to be ready in combat mode since he has a lot of quick action or dexterity to attack first and do high damage. You have to do over 400 points of damage to get him to back off and survive to round 2. Nice gloves, but I was in finish up mode and didn't need them any more. Don't bring me back until the GIFTRs are done. I hated them in A3/E3. If TM is attacked by that thing, does his censored speech become gibberish or censored gibberish? For a real world example, the front page of The Arizona Republic for May 15, 2006, had on two trends. First a shortage of repairmen was leading to an increase in wait time for plumbers to unclog drains from a few hours to a week. Second because of a shortage of trained construction workers, home builders were funding a program to train prisoners for hiring upon release. There was talk of having them doing prefabrication work in prison to deal with the shortages. I guess they are taking a page from China. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
