Hello, finlay. we've never met.
I'm Lord Grimm.
And I am posting this because my associate, the Silent Assassin (who is, in fact, the fictionalized persona of a real person), is most displeased with our account's current ranking.
Anyway. Welcome back. Please stay awhile.
Strike up some innocent banter. Avoid tentacles. Feed fuzzy turtles. Don't feed the trolls. Ride a unicycle to avoid being a pedestrian. Sacrifice spam to a pointless cause (like one's posting rank). Be an all-round nice guy. Start a fanfic.
Are you still reading?

--------------------
The Silent Assassin is, in fact, quite disappointed in our drop in rank, simply because fewer posts give him fewer chances to come up with these little tidbits at the bottom.

Trust me, it's not 8 bits overall; though the individual pallettes for the preloaded images may only have 256 colors (yes, I did verify this.).
The actual number of colors varies from image to image (or sprite to sprite, if you insist on using the in-program term), depending on need. But BoA as a whole uses more than 256 colors.

Essentially, feel free to use whatever you need: the program doesn't care.

My review:
A clever and amusing look at the Boards and online forums overall. The characterization and storytelling skill are leaps ahead of its predecessor.

To emphasize what was said above:

Avernum, unlike Exile, does not run in 256 colors. It runs in high color mode, which will disply virtually anything that you give it (though still can't simulate lighting too well.)

And to try and clarify for you:

All of those classes are exactly the same, grahics-wise. If you've read the docs, you'll understand that all of the graphics used in Avernum are simply Bitmap images (sorry, Mac-types, if it's not the same).
The only color that you can't use in what (I think) you referred to as sprites is pure white, as it translates as transparent in the world window.

I'd like to take the time to echo the sentements expressed before, and add a little bit of my own.

It seems to me that the past few games have been less and less about the party, and more about the events of the world of the party, regardless of the party's actions.
Did that make any sense?

If the party could have a more active role in the world, instead of just in alignment and celebrity?

If I may add my two cents, I think that asking for help in creating an original gimmick is a bit ironic.

But Saunders is right, the best way to be known is by being yourself.
If you feel you absolutely must do something to differentiate yourself, try to keep it to something you might do in real life, just to have a good time.

Understand that what whatever you do (save emulating TM or worse), we're gonna try to like and respect you anyway.

There's more to being in a community than being a superstar.

--------------------
The Silent Assassin would like to point out that the LL dual-posting-sig gimmick was developed mostly before we started posting. He wanted to make sure that both of us said something in each post. It was actually seeing Dintiridan's format that made us think of presenting his thoughts this way (yes, we were newbs, and actually thought that the sig could be changed from post to post. The SA gag sigs were originally going to be on a day-to-day basis; something informational like this would be included in the actual body.).
The point being, unique as our gimmick is, we do it (occasionally, but originally) for a purpose, not to get attention.

Yeah. Right.

Who on earth has time to read??

The last book I managed to foray through was Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire .
I read it because my girlfriend recommended it. It wasn't too bad.

During the few (rare) times that I actually get the chance to read, I tend to dwell in fiction.
Favorite authors include Frank Peretti , the Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child partnership, and Terry Brooks (or at least, what he wrote before Ilse Witch . ugh.)

EDIT: wrong button, and ubb woes.

The Silent Assassin had, at one point, come up with something really witty for my next post.

The blue screen of death is related to the Windows OS. If something had actually happened to your HD, your computer would more than likely have not even gotten that far.

In all likelihood, there was probably a preexisting problem.
I once had similar results (and eventual remedy)after rebooting my machine when it failed to read a certain music CD.
The blue screen of death does not mean that my computer did not like Fresh Aire II.

Oh, yes. This one is interesting.
See, Palestine didn't actually belong to the Arabs during the period of the Zionist movement, as it was under the recognized legal control of...
GREAT BRITAIN, who had been given custodianship of the the territory after the fall of the Ottoman Turks!
It was, shockingly enough, Britain who was in charge of the influx of the Jews.
And here's the funny thing... the Arabs actually agreed to the founding of a Jewish State, as it was a condition for the founding of the Arab States.
After WWII, the Arabs got so fed up with having Jews in the area that they started attacking the Brittish. So Britain pulled out, giving the fate of the territory into the hands of THE UNITED NATIONS, who, after many, many attempts at drawing a resolution, divided the land into two parts and recognized them as two separate and individual states: Israel (being less than a quarter of the disputed territory) for the Jews, and Jordan for the Arabs.
This was fine, good, and well-accepted by everyone in the UN... except for the Arab League (consisting of Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and eventually Jordan), who wanted the entire region.
Thus began the Israeli War of Independance, as the Jews fought for what had been given them.

That's how they got their territory. Because it was given to them.

Okay... here's a nice embarassment:

The Place: A large church south of Warsaw, Poland
The Time: Good Friday, 2005, evening
The Purpose: I was touring Poland with my school Chorale, and we were doing a joint-concert with a local choir. Standing room only.
The Incident: The Polish choir had finished their first portion of the performance (a nice Mozrt piece, if I recall correctly). Our dirctor summoned us up from the pews in the front. As it came time for my to exit my pew, my foot snagged on a kneeling pad and I tripped, falling flat-faced in front of about 300 people and banging my knee on the pew in the process. I managed to return to my feet in an instant, but not before my banged-up knee began to give out. I locked the knee and proceeded to try not to limp toward the altar.
The Punchline:
On the bus after the concert, the guy in the seat in front of me (who happened to be my roommate) turned around and congradulated me on the quick recovery.
He then added that the fake limp afterwards had been hamming it a bit to the extreme.
The girl in the seat across from me, having heard the interchange, verbally agreed.
