that was odd. I got the FYI flooding message without doing anything, and then, with my only refreshing the page, the UBB posted a copy. Alternatively, one can use a whole lot of level three blessing and hasting, a couple of heroic brews, arcane shield if you can afford the mp, and then use the "wait" trick before rushing in. But, yeah. Slowing is generally your best bet. -------------------- The Silent Assassin boasts that he could take on the entire Pit of Wyrm with a shovel and a tackle box. I've seen two episodes of the original BSG, and can say that it was good for the era. I haven't seen any of the new stuff. I have not seen Babylon 5, though it is on my "to view" list. Right now, my roommate and I are working on season Stargate SG-1 (go Netflix). After that, I dunno. And ze great Dr. Who debate rages on... Personally, I think the new series needs to fire most of the production staff and get some people who are actually serious about, well, not putting crap on the TV screen... The Dr. Who Classic series, on the other hand, was (and still, in a wierd definition, is) a B-rated phenomenon that attracted some of the the most talented actors and screenwriters in the western world. At least, until late in the Peter Davidson era (83-ish, I think. Frankly, the character of Turlough was Davidson's saving grace), and then the entire show went to the dogs. Brilliant characters, enticing plots, foul (though on the rare occasion clever) effects, and low-level camera work, and sometimes even the address of some major issue. Unfortunately, the stuff that made the show worth watching got sparser and sparser as it progressed. Now if someone could take the same premise and put some talent and focus back behind it (and maybe even take a gander at the classic series and try to avoid the mistakes they made)... End of rant. -------------------- The Silent Assassin is also silent while he sleeps. Which does get really creepy, to think that he could still be up and plotting... -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Ushmushmeifa: Lenar's power is almighty and ineffable. I call it "Crystal Souls: the Unofficial Novelization" You can just call it " Lenar's Fanfic ", for all I care. Why do I bring it up? Because I finally managed to pull off an assassination. -------------------- The Silent Assassin has nothing to say. Aloud. It's been so long since I've played this particular scenario that I don't recall anything about eyebeasts... However, I will say that "poppy shrooms" will become a problem if you don't accept the right reward from the Lich. Shrooms. Hint. Hint. -------------------- The Silent Assassin suggests that you go with the Amulet of Awesomeness. Of course, said amulet only exists because he scripted it, and is not found in the Run. Okay, let's talk practicality. I do know that we can utilize calls to check PC stats. What if one created a tag or several tags using skills that can't be trained in, or the skills that require base skills to train in? In essence, a combination key of skills, with a different key generated from the different sub-scenarios? One could potentially manipulate the key, of course, but why would one want to, if they wanted to play corectly? -------------------- The Silent Assassin knows more than the Shadow. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? I'd had an idea very similar to Dintiridan's, myself. However, instead of extracting singletons, i figured the player would just select the character to be affected by each story at the start of the scenario. Do it with a "choose a character" or "separate active character" type thing (I'm not in the mood to look up actual calls). I mean, TM kept the first character separate in Mad Ambition. Each scenario trains a different class of PC, so there would have to be quite a few sub-stories. Then the party is "united" in a larger scenario, where the player doesn't have to chose; it just starts automatically. In order to keep the characters in separate scenarios, one might be able to use items (gifts or rewards, perhaps?) from the other scenarios as markers. One could then potentially use the same items to create a story recap in the big scenario. To be honest, this is merely speculation. But it does sound cool. EDIT: Post 250! -------------------- The Silent Assassin made a point of making known that his new crossbow invention is a brilliant success. Of course, this was after he had managed to destroy every piece of furniture in the Living Room. Arrna, as it happens, I'm the writer, yes, and I've been stuck on a certain rather important assassination for a long time at this point :) . As it also happens, I've been through three drafts of said chapter, but have done several weeks' worth of work in the actul body of the story. And as it happens, I am confident that I am on a draft that will be posted soon. Kel, et al: Said white spots occur when the graphics get compressed to go online. So long as the entire white is the aforementioned pure white, the spots go away. So long as you don't paint over the actual slith, you can touch it up with a standard paint program. I write this for the sake of revelvance and posterity. -------------------- The Silent Assassin has blown a hole through the fabric of reality in the bunker's bathroom. Either that, or we finally found that place behind the dryer where all of our lost socks ended up. -------------------- -Lenar Labs What's Your Destiny? Well, depending on how recent you want to go... I just (as in Monday) bought an XFX GeForce 7600 PCI 16X vid card, because my computer hates rendering lighting and I had enough money left over from book buying to splurge on a very nice sale item :D . Just last month, I bought an entire refurbished prefab Gateway, including 1 gig of DDR, a Pentium 4 3-something Ghz processor, 250 gig SATA HD, and DVD+-RW burner. I required a new desktop to fit my editing and rendering needs, and this fit the bill and then some, for about $200 less than I expected. Granted, this also means that the only thing that I may upgrade within the next five years is the sound system. Well, that and my outdated video I/O solution. EDIT: Removing sensitive info and fixing the typo for Tyran. -------------------- The Silent Assassin had to get a new computer recently, too. This is why we don't play with matches and Acetylene torches indoors near sensitive equipment. in the same idea as the previous response, try a paint program that has masking or selecting capabilities (generally done with a magic wand, yes), and select to work with the white. you just need to make sure all of the white is the right color (0,0,0 RGB). in concept, selecting allows you to just paint over the desired area without affecting anything not selected (brilliant, no?).
