I'm having quite some trouble with combats.... I don't play a god party, although I admit that the party i chose was a slightly higher level than suggested (just under 60, I think). Is this just me, or are some combats getting ridiculously difficult?! Invulnerable Vahnatai who keep summoning creatures until there's no more space to summon into, while standing in the middle of a huge cloud of daggers without so much as itching.... I'll try again with a lower level party, but that was just crazy.... And no, I'm not a newbie who hasn't got any useful combat strategies. BTW: loved Bahssikava, so can't give up on Exodus. -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Posts: 33 | Registered: Tuesday, September 6 2005 07:00 |

HAVE YOU EVER SMOKED? still do, and way too much GOTTEN DRUNK? oh yeah... STOLE YOUR FRIEND'S BF/GF? I've been accused of stealing someone's boyfriend. But the girl wasn't my friend, and the boy in question was allowed to make his own choice. PLAYED SPIN THE BOTTLE? yup, but not since the 80's GONE SWIMMING IN A WHITE T-SHIRT? even worse, I won a wet-T-Shirt contest once BEEN TO A NUDE BEACH? yes, they are quite common where my family used to go on holiday. BEEN CHEATED ON? i'm afraid so - but they never got a second chance :) BEEN WALKED IN ON WHILE YOU WERE DRESSING? I believe so. But not in an embarrassing way. BOUGHT SOMETHING WAY TOO EXPENSIVE? yes. sometimes I simply want THAT one, even if I know it's not the best deal. PLAYED STRIP ANYTHING? If I did, I don't remember. But possible. PUNCHED YOUR PARENT? No, but someone should have. GONE TO SLEEP NAKED? I strangle myself with pyjamas, so I usually don't wear any RAN AWAY FROM HOME? ...and still running. WORE YOUR PAJAMAS IN PUBLIC? Is that "pyjamas' as I usually wear them or "pyjamas" in the general sense? I wore normal flannel pyjamas in public for a week. The parliament was going to close down 3 state-funded boarding schools, so all the kids who would be left with nowhere to go did a 7-day protest march from the school to the capital (yup, on foot) and put their beds up in the street outside the parliament building. DANCED IN YOUR UNDERWEAR IN FRONT OF SOMEONE? yes MADE UP A FAKE IDENTITY WHEN YOU MET SOMEONE? which one? BEEN IN LOVE? once or twice... GOTTEN A HICKEY? yup :) SLEPT IN A BED WITH A MEMBER OF THE SAME SEX /OPPOSITE SEX? I sometimes share a bed with my flatmate, if we have lots of people staying over and need to provide beds. Each to one side, though. HATED THE WAY YOU LOOK? I do most days CRIED YOURSELF TO SLEEP? have done, but not often DONE SOMETHING YOU TOLD YOURSELF YOU WOULDN'T DO? yes SUNG IN THE SHOWER? lots of times BEEN TOO SCARED TO WATCH A SCARY MOVIE ALONE? hehehe, yeeeees. LAUGHED SO HARD THAT YOU CRIED? oh yes! FORGOTTEN SOMEONE'S NAME? who's name? CRIED OVER SOMEONE? yes SKIPPED SCHOOL? yes.... too much. Now I have to take extra courses at Uni to keep up, which costs me time and money and patience. But skipping seemed a good idea at the time... GOTTEN EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL? suspended, yes. expelled, no. DONE DRUGS? a few, but nowadays don't even take aspirin GOTTEN A TICKET? I have a collection of internationl speeding tickets. GOTTEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT? Yes. I was driving a sick friend to the clinic, when he suddenly had a seizure in the car. I got distracted, ran over a red light and slammed into another car. Neither car was very fast, so nobody got hurt, just two crunched up fenders. SCREAMED IN A LIBRARY? yes, at the librarian ASKED SOMEONE OUT? Not often. I think that's the guy's job. BEEN ON A PLANE? way too often. I don't like it because it makes my ears pop. BEEN OUT OF THE COUNTRY? I am mostly out of most countries. PASSED OUT? I don't think so BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL? Yes, but I tend to break out again. HAD SURGERY? Appendix and tonsils are gone, nothing major. PLAYED A TERRIBLE PRANK ON SOMEONE? I just bought "125 nasty chemical experiemtnts for the evil little genius". What do you think? MOCKED SOMEONE? not on purpose. it's silly. FAILED A CLASS ON PURPOSE? I have failed to turn up for exams. I wouldn't call it on purpose. I just didn't give a damn at the time. SEEN A GHOST? If I did, they didn't tell me they were a ghost. Aren't ghosts invisible? CRIED IN PUBLIC? I would have to shoot everybody who saw it afterwards, so I try to avoid it. But I think I have done a few times. BEEN HIT BY A PARENT? yes ATE DOG/CAT FOOD? I tried cat buiscits when I was a kid. Simply because the cat was crazy for them. I didn't like them much. WALKED INTO A WALL AND/OR DOOR? wall - nnnnno. doorframe - constantly. I seem to miss them regularly by about 2 inches, so always bump my shoulder. I need my vision checked out... -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! I'd find meself some sparsely populated place (Scotland? Friesland? Kasachztan?) and buy a huge chunk of land, build a good-sized house on it with a full-blown old-fashioned library (one of thoose with galleries and ladders on wheels) and build a huge wall around it. (I so don't enjoy neighbours.) Then, after making sure my friends and family are well-cared for, I'd spend my time anonymously helping other people with my money. I wouldn't want every Bob and Harry to come knocking at my door for money, so I wouldn't tell anyone who donated it. Gosh, that sounds boring now. Maybe I'd get trigger-happy and buy myself into the Jet-Set instead. -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Posts: 33 | Registered: Tuesday, September 6 2005 07:00 |

Hmmmm, I don't know. By now I just seem to get to the next bend and -oh yeah, surprise, another nephil. Unlimited arrows - so I shoot it without even getting any interesting spells or javelins out. Go to next bend, another stripy cat, lift bow, shoot.... It's just a bit repetitive. Speaking of javelins. I loved having a kick-ass javelin thrower, but now he's clutching his newly aquired bow and refusing to let go of it, repeating "Butbutbut i don't have to carry the arrows!" I should never have gotten him one. It's not annoying enough to make me really mad, but I liked to be able to race to places by parking my thumb on the arrow key and watching my party speed across the landscape from above. I guess I'm just not used to the navigation yet. -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Posts: 33 | Registered: Tuesday, September 6 2005 07:00 |

I don't mind the graphics. And so far I like the rest of it too. well, i just tried, and it seems files really are missing. "failed to load t5luciano" "failed to load t5luke" show after I cross the bridge to the second little island and before i enter the town Luciano lives in. This results in Luciano just sitting there and me unable to talk to him, therefore unable to use his boat. I don't think it's any scripting error, because I had a look in the foldr and the two above files are not included. Hence they can't be called if they're not there. I'm not moaning here, I'd just like to get the missing files, so I can continue. Anyone? -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! There's Guy Fawke's Day on the 5th of November, also called Bonfire Night. As it's pretty close to Halloween, people with children tend to include candy and costumes and propably a candle pumpkin with their Bonfire Night. I'll just have a bonfire in the garden. Administration in my office have asked if they can come along and dispose of some pre-90's archiving, as they need the space, so I expect a few people to show up with burning material. There'll be fireworks going up everywhere, climbing on the roof to watch the show is always a good idea. -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Ah! No, I didn't kill him. He was nice to me, and I'm a sucker for well-dressed men with good manners... (no pun intended, hehe) I also didn't make any further comments about Mahrmmrrh, because I decided that he's not a danger to the general public and liked his attitude about repaying a debt by serving Tybonson, even though it must be pretty difficult to live among humans who mostly despise nephils. Very honourable. I'll go and get the newest version now. Thank you Smoo :) -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Posts: 33 | Registered: Tuesday, September 6 2005 07:00 |

as for textfiles and Office - there's always open office.... and Mozilla is great. Firefox and Thunderbird work very well on PC and Mac, as does Sunbird (still beta I believe). My first ever computer (apart from very early attempts to play tetris on an ancient PC which had a 2 MB harddrive and was top of the range at the time) happened to be a Mac. No particular reason, I just kinda inherited it from someone who bought a better, newer one. I didn't have any reason to replace it for a long time, so I knew everything Mac in and out. I didn't see a reason to change, either, as I work in an industry that mainly uses Macs. The company I work for has a deal with Apple as well, so they use them as much as possible and we get fantastic staff discounts. Hence I've been on Mac ever since and have never owned a PC. Therefore I would probably count as a pure-bred Mackie :) That doesn't mean I hate PCs in any way, though. I like the easy handling of Macs and I like that I don't have to install countless things all the time. Every time I upgrade something, I can open the box, plug the cable in, and start using it straight away. My brother (a fierce PC-lover and Mac-hater) seems to spend more time upgrading and installing and formatting than actually using his machine. Also, every time there'an electric fluctuation in our power supply (it's an old house...), my PC-using flatmates start cursing and rebooting unisono from every room, while my Mac doesn't even blink and I wouldn't have noticed at all, were it not for the boys to launch verbal massacres against the power company and the dodgy wiring. I have no idea whether that's down to PC's in general or their individual set-ups, though. (I've just been told you can protect PC's from being affected by power dips, but my point is that I don't protect my Mac and it still doesn't matter.) On the other hand, I have a borrowed PC and use it for new games (as mentioned before in this thread), as Mac versions usually come out much later or not at all. Also, while I was still on OS 9, there was a lot of useful stuff I couldn't use or wasn't supported/compatible. For example, there's no Skype for OS 9 (which my brother uses a lot and would have come in handy), and ICQ seemed to cause a lot of problems (plain ICQ that is, not multi supports). OS X and VirtualPC fix a lot of those issues, though. Ever heard of VirtualMac for PC? (If yes, please post a link!) Oh, did I mention viruses? I actually opened the infamous 'I love you' thing and had a good laugh at it - simply because I could. Having said that - should I ever do get a nasty Mac virus, I will have no idea who to ask about fixing it. Yes, it annoys me that I have to shout for someone to fix blue screens and other PC hick-ups 5 times a week, but that can safely be blamed on me being PC-inept and too lazy to learn it if I have the luxury of two Macs on the other desk instead. But it also annoys me that the MrComputer Shop down the road never has any spares for me and I have to resort to ebay in order to avoid horrendous prices at the Apple Store. And yeah, Linux rocks :) [ Friday, October 28, 2005 19:41: Message edited by: Laurana ] -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Speaking of! I'm stuck there as well. The "goblin amulet"? Skull with claw marks on and stuff? I have that, friendly Mister Bearworth looked at it -but sadly refuses to do so again- and I still get toasted. Can't really equip a special item, so what do I do? Did I miss something? One thing comes to mind though: I tend to run around and explore a lot first, because I like to know what's where on the map before getting hammered to pieces by someone. I collect quests as I come across them, and then complete them later on in a random geographical order, rather than in the order they were given. I like randomly zigzagging the map - but not when theres a job I want to get done. I'm aware that this sometimes leads to unexpected results. For example, in DoK I walked into Brother Oakleaf (if I remember his name correctly) who asked me whether I had brought all the items from the temple, before he ever asked me to go and get anything. So I was a bit "What items?!? You been smoking any of those funny herbs again?!" but later realised that I wasn't supposed to sneak around there until later. Oh, and I killed the dragons before getting the quest to do so (stomp it first, ask questions later), then had to go and pretend to do it again in order for anyone to accept that I already did it. Funny :) So - did I manage to do a similar thing here or do I have the wrong amulet? Oh, I also opted to storm the valley entrance with the demons after I found the tunnel into the valley (talk about back-stabbing, haha). I just can't resist such a good fight. It took some attempts, but I flattened them at last. Was I supposed to not do that? Laurana Niemand: Dosenöffner, haha - den hätte ich gerne um die blöden Flammenwerfer da abzubauen.... *grins* [ Saturday, October 29, 2005 13:54: Message edited by: Laurana ] -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Personally, I believe that someone or something has put me here. So have a bit of a problem with switching off the lights prematurely, because I wanna see where this is going. Having said that, I'm not terminally ill or in constant pain, and I might well change my mind if I was unfortunate enough to find myself in that position. I'm not at all afraid to die, but I am very afraid of pain and suffering usually associated with it. (I really hope I will one day die quickly, or peacefully in my sleep at 98.) I don't think suicide or assisted death is a good thing in any circumstance. We didn't make ourselves born, so we shouldn't kill ourselves either. However, I attibute everyone the right to choose for themselves, so people who DO choose Euthanasia should have the right to do so. Although - do you think legalising assited death might open opportunities to hide murder? Say, to get rid of terminally ill or heavily disabled relatives who are a constant burden on their families? (This is just an example, think "frail old rich Auntie" or something) The more I think about it, the more complex it seems to become. -------------------- I outnumbered them one to thirty! Belfast is a favourite. Glaswegian is neat. (don't forget to add "bah the weah" to every other sentence...) I could come up with some favourites in other languages: North-west germans speaking german sound pleasant, east or south germans don't. I like parisian (or generally northern) accents in french. Southern french sounds harsher to me. Odd thing: I tend to quickly pick up accents used around me all the time. I was taught english in school (I lived in germany as a kid), but only to an extend of being able to understand and communicate certain topics (as my family is mainly french), so naturally I had a foreign accent. I learned a little bit of english from relatives in Belfast when I was very small, so I had mysterious traces of a Belfast lilt in some words that surprised my teacher numerous times and couldn't be rooted out. I didn't have a need for english in every day life, so didn't improve much for some time. Then I was taught more english by south africans, and I ended up having a south african accent, and losing my own foreign one completely. Then I moved to New Zealand, where everybody asked me what area in South Africa I'm from. A few years later I moved to England, where even Kiwis asked me where in New Zealand I was from. I had picked up the broadest Kiwi accent without realising it, and lost the South African. Two years down the line, my friends in Auckland complained that I had aquired the most ridiculous British Accent ever and I found that I could boldly claim to come from East Sussex without anyone in Sussex questioning it. I also managed to be mistaken for an American (only on the phone so far), and a French-Canadian after I came back from France and had trouble switching back to english during the first few days. So picking up new accents has become somewhat of a hobby :D Edit: yes, Laurana can't spell, big news....
