Yes, it's the SW forums, you're right. To me it seems genuine. And Toaster, what the HELL is there strange about him doing this survey? He explains what he is doing here rather well, so I say you'd just read his post again, okay? -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Though I agree with Dikiyoba and Ephesos, losing a pet which I literally grew up with can make me just as said. My cat died two years ago. He was there when I was born, I was at school when he died. He was one of the dumbest animals in Holland. He probably didn't even have real cat instincts and thought he was a human, as he mostly saw only humans. He didn't chase mice, only panicked and cried when we wanted him to climb a tree, so as a cat he was worthless, but as a friend he was the best: never scratches, only bitten somebody once in his entire life. And for the rest he wanted love, and when you gave it, he rewarded you with some of his own love-giving. Yes, the house feels empty when I come back from vacation: i don't hear his steps and meowing when we open the door and I don't feel his soft fur. This probably sounds very melodramatic. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Your Band Name is: The Furry Nuns Band Name Generator http://www.blogthings.com/bandnamegenerator/ Yeah, right. I did laugh my head off, by the way. *still searching for head* The evil-names-generator-thingy was, to be honest, just plain dumb. I didn't really think it's funny. Oh, Budapest is a wondefull town. I have been there a year ago or so. To answer your question: I have been plenty of times in an other country without my parents. In these acses, though, I was with friends and schoolmates, so I don't know if that really counts. I understand that anxiety, but it's much like Maudrin said, so don't worry to much. Have a pleasant flight! -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! "Siegfried" by... no, not Richard Wagner, by Harry Mulisch. That's an important Dutch writer. So anyway, the book's a writer, who gets totally obsessed by the question "what was Hitler." He visits this ols couple, they were two of Hitlers servants, and they tell him a story, Hitler's greatest secret, that he had a son. The story is for a great deal about this son... and his very sudden death. Overpowered by all the emotions, eventually the writer dies back in his hotel room. I was listening to the third movement of Shostakovich's fifth symphony, so you people who know it might understand how extremely depressed I was when I had finished that book. Nevertheless, though, I felt like "Wow". I'm quite hapopy to have read it... I'm also sure that it was translated to Eglish since the Mulisch is so important, so I can recommend it to you. And by the way, the theme is not a favorite of mine. Still I was dragged into the book. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! You seem overwhelmed with joy that you can release your scenario. Congratulations, if you want them or not. And I made a cmg file, but I didn't test it yet to see if it works, so... Well how do you think? (Or at least I presume that) he got it illegaly, by using a torrent. For a very long time already you could have downloaded it, you know... As I understand it, the standard compression method for Mac OS X is .dmg, while it, at first, was .sit. I have seen .tar.gz, but only very, very few times. I recommend that you use either .sit or .zip, and stay with that. Using extensions that aren't quite standard (like .tar.gz) will only add to the confusion of newbies, meaning that we will have to answer the same questions over and over again, while strictly speaking that would be unnecesary. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Okay, now lets see: scripts and bas files indeed work without any converting; rtf-texts are no problem: like Windows, Mac comes with its own texteditor, which can read rtf texts. So even if you don't have a program like Office or an equivalent of it (OpenOffice.org), you can still read it on a Mac. Compression is as you said: going to Windows you use zip, going to Mac you use .sit. I don't know about windows, but Mac has no problem whatsoever with both of them. for sit you will have to get yourself stuffit expander, though. Custom graphics: no. Windows can not make cmg files, and I don't know of any program that can do it on Windows. You'll have to send your graphics to a Mac user so he can do it for you. I would have done it, but I'm quite busy... And yes, Niemand's graphic adjuster automatically converts a cmg file to bmp files. You can also use any image editor, like GraphicConvertert or Appleworks to manually make the custom graphics, one by one into bmp files. It requires more time and work, though. So as you see, basically you can make scenarios for Mac and Windows without problems, but Windows can not always succesfully produce scenarios for both Windows and Mac. *Looks at the calendar.* It's the 28th and I'm in St Petersburg, so I donb't submit anything. On the bright side though, during this Rencontre Assyriologique internationale I have managed to near completion of the Nephil language (whose name will change to the equivalent in the Nephil language once I remember what it was), and I have been gathering some things for the next and probably last installment of the TNS series (as some of you know, it consists of two parts). It might sound strange that I'm already gathering ideas for the next TNS scenario when the first isn't even finished, but in my opinion it's never too early to start planning a scenario. Fans of Babylonian and Sumerian society will probably like TNS: Homeland (working title). -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Where the Rivers Meet version 2.0.3 is now ready for download. This is not an official release though. I had one betatester who helped me a lot and tested everything and helped me take out all major, and some minor, bugs. ome othgers also helped, but not as much. The problem I faced, was that I actually needed a Mac tester besides me (I'm a Mac user). An other "problem" is that I'm off to Russia tomorrow (19th of july) and I only come back on the 2nd of august. This means that afinal, proper beta is not really going to work the way I want it, for the simple reason i want it released as soon as possible. As soon as possible is not equal too two weeks. So what I decided was to simply release v 2.0.3 as a public beta. This way I release what I have so the community can enjoy it, and I give people two weeks (or possibly more) to give me feedback on what needs fixing. This brings us to something you, the player, will need to understand: as this is a public beta, you're supposed to give me feedback if you encounter a bug, or even the smallest problem you cna imagine. This includes spelling and grammar errors. But don't let me keep you, the download links are on Where the Rivers Meet's main page: WtRM main page I hope you like the additions I made. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. I find this call to be somehwat depressing. Now and then it works, but lately it fails to do anything. I'm talking about the following piece of script: Here, what_day_of_scenario refuses to work. Right now, my party is standing outside the town to which this script belongs. It is day 3, and character 7 is not erased, nor is the flag set to 1. I took the if call containing what_day_of_scenario() out, and it worked. Also, the flags 5,2 and 6,1 are 0 at the time that this chunk of code is run. So indeed: from my tests the what_day_of_scenario call is to blame. Would anybody know what's causing this? EDIT: So in the end it did work, but only on day 4... How come?
