quote:When I was younger, like elementary and middle school age, I wrote fanfiction about nearly every computer game I had, before I even knew it was called fanfiction. ^_^ My usual goal was that they would eventually be novels, but I always lost interest in the stories before long. Actually playing the games was a lot more fun. My goal for most things I write is that they'll be novels. *dies laughing* Closest I've ever come is an 82-page thingy that I should really write more of, and a 30-page one I'm currently writing with my friend. >< [ Wednesday, October 26, 2005 15:49: Message edited by: Erika Maroonmark ] -------------------- A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Oh, man. I first heard about that, like, 2 years ago. And I've still never gotten around to trying it because I keep forgetting. -_-; And because I'm too busy for lots of stuff. Meh. *pokes high school* I might try and see how close I get. You can download "abandonware" games (games that were discontinued by their... publisher? whatever they're called, LOL... and have become public domain) for Macs at some site called Mac Garden... I don't know what the exact URL is, but Google will probably come up with it. -------------------- A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. I've never tried a singleton, or actually anything less than 4 characters. ^^; Two mêlée men, one a straight swordsman, the other an archery/lockpick/trap-disarmery kinda guy, plus a mage and a priest. I always name the mage Claire after myself. *hearts mages* I liked the 6-person party in Exile a bit better, because then I would have another mage and another priest, doubling the fireballing/healing action. And, of course, the more mages, the merrier. ;) -------------------- A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Ambrin walks up to them and says, "Hey! It's the Triad!" A C, an E flat, and a G walk into a bar. The bartender says "Sorry, we don't serve minors." So the E flat leaves and the bartender says to the G, "Would you like some gin with your tonic?" The G, being the dominant one of the two, answers for both of them: "Sure!" and the C and the G have an open fifth between them. A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. An orchestra is giving a performance of Beethoven's ninth symphony. During the interval between the third and fourth movements, the two double bass players decide to sneak out. They drop their instruments, which hit the two cello players in front of them. The cellists are unconscious for the remainder of the concert. The bass players go to a bar and meet their friend, a European nobleman. They all get drunk and after a while, the first bassist says to the second, "Shouldn't we be getting back?" The other guy says, "No, we've got plenty of time. Right before we left, I tied up the conductor's music with a piece of string. It'll take him a while to untangle it." When it's finally time to start, the conductor looks really nervous. A member of the audience whispers to his friend, "Why is the conductor so nervous?" His neighbour replies, "It's the last of the ninth, the score is tied, two men are out, the basses are loaded, and the count is full." -------------------- A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. quote:If there's a really difficult boss fight or something, and you win but one of your characters dies. Normally, I save after every battle and every important thing I do, and then go back if someone dies, but in a really big, hard battle, sometimes (IMO) it's worth going back to a town healer later. What annoys me is that all the deceased's items drop to the ground when they die and you can't possibly pick them all up, especially if you've gotten far enough in the game to have a lot of armor and assorted miscellaneous items. -_-; -------------------- A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Is there a way to get a boat in Upper Avernum? I found this little waterway west of Ghikra that was enclosed completely in a tunnel (ergo, I couldn't explore it overland). I saw a boat in New Cotra (I believe), but I couldn't board it, as it wasn't mine. I didn't come across anyone who sold boats, there or anywhere else. Can one get them? -------------------- A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Ambrin walks up to them and says, "Hey! It's the Triad!" Tolkien was very logical. He maed the plural of 'elf' 'elves', as it should logically be, instead of the standard 'elfs'. Not only is it more difficult to pronounce than 'elves', but it also makes no sense when you consider 'wolves', 'leaves', 'knives', 'shelves', &c. I think that in medieval times "the middle earth" meant the real world, as opposed to heaven, hell, &c. I vaguely remember reading that somewhere. ^^;; -------------------- A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Ambrin walks up to them and says, "Hey! It's the Triad!" Although my (incredibly clever =P) punning screen name may be misleading, I actually am a girl. XD "Dark Lady of the Slith" just isn't as funny. I'll be a junior in high school starting a week from yesterday (certain northern US states start and end school really late), and will turn 16 in December. *is a young'un* My obsessions besides playing computer games (especially Exile and Avernum {I'm especially fond of the mages, especially Erika and Solberg}) include playing the flute and reading lots of fantasy novels. ^^ -------------------- A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. I haven't tried this out extensively (especially since I'm not very far on E3 as opposed to A3 -_-;;; ), but I heard that once you sell something to Levy on at least one of those games (I forget which, but it's worth a try), he'll sell it back to you an unlimited number of times. Since he's such a tightwad, you probably lose more money than you would make selling them, but having an unlimited supply of certain things might be nice. With your strategy, it would work even better because you could make back the money from buying stuff from Levy fast. Programs are good. =D Except that on certain tests the teacher people make sure you clear your calculator's whole memory and come around to see that everyone has done it. Gah. I had this program someone in my Precalc class made that would tell you how many digits were in the repeating string of a repeating decimal, but thanks to the Math B Exam rules 'twas lost. *sob* And yay LotR! I was also thinking "I am the Dark Lord of Mordor, and I have forged the One Calculator to RULE THEM ALL!!" like in that Legendary Frog parody. ^_^ [ Friday, September 02, 2005 14:36: Message edited by: The Dark Lord of the Slith ] -------------------- A C, an E flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. Firestorm is sometimes better than Flamestrike, though, because it covers a larger area and in some situations/large fights that's what you'd want. I'd rather keep Major Blessing and Protection for those battles, too, because they do more than you can get with priest spells to the same effect (I think), especially because priest spells can't poison your weapons. That's always useful in big battles, too, and carrying around a bunch of poison to put on your weapons takes up precious inventory space. Plus, you can poison yourself by accident if you do it manually. I also just like mages. :D -------------------- A C, an E-flat, and a G walk into the Tower of the Magi. For some reason I always thought it was capitalized. I think it might be capitalized in the Exile FAQ (some reference to a Vahnatai cave, I think). Or something.
