Hey! You took that completely out of context! I was merely complementing the manner in which you ended the script. Completely in character with how I congratulated the opening of the script. It bookends quite nicely, don't you think? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Computers seem mainly useful for communicating with distant people that you would otherwise never meet and entering into mundane arguments with the same. If the new OS allows for those arguments to not be lost during a crash, there is a minute chance that the argument will not be repeated. If so, I'm all for it. Otherwise, my opinion would be that the computer industry has fallen into disrepair, and lacking any new technological innovations has decided that they can instead use flash and glitter to sell fashion rather than substance. It's neither art nor furniture, it's just a glorified typewriter/telephone/DM. OMG! It's just a glorified secretary! Sigh. SoT? could you bring back your questions on hypothesis on time flow? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Yadda yadda. Pick two. Picture is below. Sorry that the picture didn't consistently show up. Current theory is that Aran's server doesn't particularly like hotlinking. Any ideas? Perhaps an Exiled version of Geneforge? Jeff must just love these threads, what with how incredibly hard it would be to just come up with some new idea that pleases both TM and the average customer. And, as always, as soon as a new idea is mentioned on these boards which might actually have some merit, it is no longer usable. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

As with the previous iteration of the rankings game associated with the posting game, this poll tries to capture our opinion of which would be the favored captions for the associated picture. As with the previous thread, there is absolutely no need to reply to this thread, merely respond to the poll and periodically monitor the results. The picture in question is as follows: Poll Information This poll contains 1 question(s). 36 user(s) have voted. You may not view the results of this poll without voting. function launch_voter () { launch_window("http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=poll;d=vote;pollid=rjNbodsjJVed"); return true; } // end launch_voter function launch_viewer () { launch_window("http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=poll;d=view;pollid=rjNbodsjJVed"); return true; } // end launch_viewer function launch_window (url) { preview = window.open( url, "preview", "width=550,height=300,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status,menubar=no,scrollbars,resizable,copyhistory=no" ); window.preview.focus(); return preview; } // end launch_window -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Some of you may be familiar with New Yorker magazine and their current cartoon caption contest. It is in many ways comparable with Thuryl's posting game, but his thread lacked the ability to generate favorites. Thus my poll. For reference, the picture for the first set of captions (listed in the poll) is as follows. Edit - Added specificity to title, making future iterations more possible. Edit 2 - It should be noted for the record that there is no need to reply to this thread. It is quite happy to have no replies. It is no longer happy of course, but will console itself with the knowledge that future versions will enjoy that most favored status of being without reply. The same, or not the same, it doesn't exactly matter. You can use the check_floor instead if the terrain will be shifting a lot. It would be simple to have a digable planet if there were 3 to 4 duplicate floors. I would still encourage terrain/floor checking over location checks. You might also be able to do things with is_stain_on_space and alternative responses ("You dig down a few feet only to find a partially decomposed elf. You quickly cover it up and vow never to speak of it again.") -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
