Can't feel comfortable with any of those answers. What about just tweaking certain memories to gain small advantages over time? The cop forgetting why you were pulled over. The boss suddenly remembering how prompt you always have been. Those may be good uses, the hate/domination/never thing is a little extreme for my tastes. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

That door is difficult, but you can circle around and approach it from the other side. An easy approach is to go straight north from the cave entrance. The leader is through there. The snake is over Jeffrey's right shoulder. Edit - Actually the snake can be in any number of bushes. Your odds of finding the snake increase as you search each bush. Besides the one already mentioned, check the following places. 1. West of the witch lady. 2. South of the smithy. 3. Outside the NW fence of the cemetary. (Why Smoo, why?) 4. Behind the cottage north of Jeffrey's location. 5. Next to the entrance to the temple. Hope that helps. Just to mess with people's heads, I'll reply to Nioca in generalities, where he mentioned specifics in the PM. 1) Is this a two part scenario? Like a long one? I have a hard time envisioning the player being all that happy to find out that the thing isn't finished at all, it has hardly begun. 2) The kidnapping makes sense only if the whole thing was engineered to get the reward into the hands of the enemy. 3) If that is the case, the party had better damn well be just killed by the enemy, because otherwise (Dintiradan can fill in the blanks here). Of course, then they are dead, but that never bothered TM, now did it? Alternatively you could have them a. wash up on the beach, b. wake up from a coma in a remote druid's house, or c. wake up in a row boat, cast adrift. Ok? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:Not sure how you would do that. If the party is abducted, then all information would have to be given through cut scenes. How will they be rescued? I would be more than happy to assist, but the limited information you give makes it difficult. Both Dikiyoba and Thuryl gave good advice as well. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:No, I did it to make a point about the lameness of your question. Really, using the term "always" should give it away. There are no absolutes in plots. Some are fantastic when linear with no deviations. Some only work if there are twists. So what the hell should I say? No, never? Yes or no, sometimes? Ask a real question, and you may get a real answer. Sheesh. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Thanks Zeviz, I'll put it on the list. As to the play surface medium problem, we had sand underneath all apparatus. Swings, jungle gym, horizontal ladder, climbing pole, slide, see-saw, even the tether ball. I can't recall anyone getting injured from a fall, and we always flew off the swing set when we had gotten it as high as it could go. Well, maybe some kids forgot to not get sand in their eye, but that is hardly an injury, even for a 1st grader. Practicing my standard of making one post to cover multiple posts, in response to the non-violence morals posited by Stew Boy...   If you are a Buddhist I apologise, but I somehow think you would have mentioned that already. Your stance of non-violence, not wanting to hurt someone, or whatever excuse is a huge cop-out. What are you going to do when you are on a date with the girl of your dreams and some ass starts hitting on her? What are you going to do when you are interviewing for a great job and you are asked " Why should I hire you instead of this other guy?" All this stuff, from Zeviz, Kel, Alec, DeVlish, Ephesos, and me is geared toward making your self-confidence increase. Listening to you say time and again [whine]"I can't do that."[/whine] pisses me off and makes me realize that my time has been wasted. You are on your own buddy. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:And when models suck, most rational people go back and re-study what has been observed. A theory that is disproven has nothing to say on a subject except to eliminate one cause-effect thread. We could still be looking at a situation of 100% human forced global climate change, yet not have the tools to see that it is happening. What is certain is that something is happening, and our limited understanding indicates that it will take a massive effort to slow it down or stop it, and the alternative is chaos, death, and a huge change in civilization, society, and life. Given those two choices, which route do you want to take? Are you the cautious type that buys insurance? Or are you the tail-gater that is in such a hurry to get anywhere that you miss the journey? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Do you need incontrovertible evidence that gravity will continue to work? Do you need incontrovertible evidence that a medicine you take will improve your health. Grow up fatman. If it walks like a duck, and looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, would you require DNA tests before accepting that it is a duck? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

What are your goals, Aran? My perception is that you fret over the level of activity on the forums, high or low. You grumble when there is a request for more posting, and the result is mostly spam. If there is no request, and spam is still the major style, you don't grumble. So, it would seem that your grumble happens when a person or persons hears you fret, and then takes action. We have a lot of very decent, informative, and controversial threads at present. Sure, there is some spam, but overall the threads fit into your personal requirements of validity. I would be willing to bet that there are more content laden posts this month than in last month's crop. It may be that you see crap like the X-war and have a negative reaction. Maybe things do happen when posting level increases and certain immature individuals react spasticly. But hey, it happens and is really no big deal. Last night's example was spectacular only in volume of disk space. NO words or pictures. Isn't it better? The simple truth is that the forum attracts people because of the games. Once you've played all the games, there is really no reason to stick around other than the people and conversation. If you want to curtail it or take that away, well I've got other things to do and I may or may not make it back when G4 comes out. My last absence was 1998 through 2005. :) ps. If you think that post count is an issue you are dead wrong. Too bad there is no method of allowing users to edit their counts. I think you would see how few care. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:Well, that should tell you something. My reason for asking was that the level of knowledge seemed similar. The Xeon crap was all bait. The X thread just seemed like the child was frustrated that no one paid attention to the bait. Just because an account hasn't been used until now doesn't give it validity. In fact, it cries out "I'm a mole, crush me under the giant boot of oppression." -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The proof being that despite the massive failures evidenced after 3.5 years in office, Bush still managed to beat Kerry. I'm pretty sure that if the Dems had nominated a llama in 2004 that it would have been a landslide. :P -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Actually, I continue to look for evidence that we are thrashing our planet, and fatman seems to be using thrashed theories to shrug off any responsibility. Just because a theory is proven wrong, doesn't mean the conclusions are wrong as well. What crap science that would be. Sheesh. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
