Yeah. I've seen some. Perfect Storm was fun, I was on the Maine coast for that. A hurricane down in Galveston, fun too. Hmm. Blizzards dumping 4 feet over 3 days a couple of times. But that was before Al invented global worming. It used to just be abnormal weather. -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Yeah, but... Maybe he just read Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven. That is enough to make anyone question the intentions of the Morman tradition. -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

MM certainly is a unique member, with all the honor that entails. As far as a prize goes, you do have a custom title, which has to be worth something, right? -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Well, the anti-climatic aspect of the forum departure does seem fitting. Kinda like the excitement I felt after first starting to play a RW game after that torturously long download. :P -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Absolutely ADoS. I am definitely not viewing the totality of how things are, and most certainly not how things are now. Remember that when I was in high school, Duran Duran was Hungry (like a wolf), MTV was cool, Rolling Stones were everywhere, and Boston was more than a feeling. I am, however, old enough to have had experiences that many of you haven't yet had. Not all of them fun, but all of them inescapable and eventually good learning experiences. No one is born knowing how to be in a good, loving, working relationship. You do it through practice. You make mistakes and learn from them, eventually making fewer and fewer. As a sidebar, perhaps illustrating how out of touch I am with reality, I recently learned that 25% of Americans consider themselves to be fundamentalists. I had no clue. -------------------- WWtNSD? Somehow there are going to be statistics out there that explain just exactly how many relationships that are judged to be serious at the age of 16 turn out to be serious. Of course I am speaking as a guy that is two to three times your age in most cases. Serious relationship means - Hmm, I think we love each other to the point where we want to get married, have kids, buy a house, pay for college, retire, and get supported by our kids into old age. Even you Vin, is that what you were thinking with the Nazgul-whisperer? I'm not saying that you can't be in a commited relationship, or that you can't have feelings of deep connection or even love. Sure, those are very strong and real things, even as young as 11. But they aren't serious relationships without marriage parts that aren't good. Rather than be a teenager thinking those things, I would much rather be a teenager thinking "Ohmagawd! This is absolutely incredible! This is the most fun time in my life and I absolutely am going to enjoy every last moment of it." Because that will end. Some day. Eventually. You will find a person that loves you so fiercely that you will be astonished. You will have bad times together, and sickness, and poverty. And still wake up astonished at your good fortune. If you have that now, say for 18 months with the same person, you are incredibly fortunate. I hope it sticks. and for the record, I did use a lot of conditionals in that post, since nothing is certain, or for everyone, or about everyone. Always there are exceptions. Even as applied to that last sentence. -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

One quick comment. How can anyone think that a relationship at ages <16 is serious in any way, shape, or form? And I encourage people that aren't satisfied with their love life to consider the source and propriety of that missing satisfaction. Given that, as a species, we don't need to be hell-bent on procreation, it may be more sensible to worry less about a love life, and more about life itself, at this stage in your life. Get my point? -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Having just seen episodes 1-13, I gotta wonder what is the attraction. I mean, I realize it is all DnD and stuff and poking fun at TPTB, but really. Is it more than that? Will there ever be some topical episodes that relate to real life? damn i'm getting old -------------------- WWtNSD? Synergy - "I don't get it." The price you pay is dependent on how much effort it takes to get the game to you. Toshiba/wildgames is offering the download and key, which takes approximately zero effort in human terms. Jeff and crew offer CD, infinite keys and other support, bundled hint book. (Edit - wildgames offers a backup CD for $9 more, making the total $28.90. Jeff offers it for $31.00, making him 7.2% more expensive and still you get the unlimited support. So he gets limited competition, wider distribution, and money.) You get what you pay for. And in this case, wildgames is paying Jeff for the right to distribute his game. It isn't the first time, and hopefully it won't be the last, since it widens the market considerably. For example, I never have bought a computer magazine, yet I downloaded E3 and then bought it. [ Saturday, June 16, 2007 11:14: Message edited by: Jumpin' Sarcasmon ] -------------------- WWtNSD? My take is that RW is far too inane. That it has existed so long is fantastic, and must mean that there is meaning to RWG beyond the surface. Ergo, a cult is born to that otherwise amorphous meaning with all the appropriate trappings. And, that all that has happened, over some pretty crappy games by an author that seemingly dropped off the planet, is pretty damn funny. Really. The demise of the forum is something that should happened five years ago. It served no purpose other than a convenience for an author that couldn't support their own web forum and as a favor from one that could. Now, things are the same, but with more Vogel games to fill the space, there is no need to pad or fluff. All Vogel! Submit to the Guardians and yield your soul to the illustrious Vogelian Benefactor!
