Over 9000 members.
How did we get over 1000 members in about 6 months?

At this rate, we should be at or almost 10,000 members by the end of this year.

Comments?

So who got 9000? Tyran? An Aran clone? I guess we're all waiting for the big prize: 10,000. Given that we hit 8000 on groundhog's day, I'm betting we get there by Thanksgiving, particularly if Jeff puts out a new game by that time.

Edit: IFM's an 8000. Does anybody find it hard to believe that, when I posted about the switch-over back in early February, he wasn't even a member? And just look at him now <moderate sarcasm/>.

We are getting a lot of bots joining and *i has been keeping them from posting. You have to have pull like Aran to get your bots as posting members.

Now if Aran was still posting on the 17th the monthly stats page, you could see that most new members except for Iffy don't post that much in their first month.

Comments? I think this topic has no satisfactory discussion value. Yet I seek meaningless approbation, so I respond.

Many newbs don't post for a long time. It can take years for them to make their first posts. I wonder, if people with accounts that hadn't posted in one year were purged, how many members would we still have?

I never even realized we were approaching a milestone.

But I'll keep my eyes open for the next power of ten.

Goodness. After all this time here, my postcount is still below the number of total members.

I can't say I've had that particular problem anytime recently.

—Alorael, who doesn't particularly care how many members there are. The important questions are how many post at all, how many post consistently, and how many post valuably. Those numbers still seem stable.

I don't collect accounts anymore, now that I'm a mod.

Well aren't we la-di-da. I suppose you've started eating foie gras, drinking champagne and putting down the toilet seat as well.

It's practicality more than elitism. I don't want to have to switch accounts just to read the mod board or check an IP. :P

We drink tea, not champagne. To the other accusations I have no comment, except that foie gras does not go down well with skribbane.

—Alorael, who has devised a simple solution to the account switching problem. No, he can't tell you, or anyone. That would be giving away trade secrets!
