Well, while Nalyd showed this at the Roost, I will show it here.
I didn't see any topics about this.
It is basically very funny comics made by some random person (I guess).

I believe most people here have already discovered OOTS, but you're right, there haven't been any threads about it here that I can remember. So I reckon we can skip the snide elitist remarks this time.

What I wouldn't mind knowing is how long people think the series stays good. I wasted an hour or two reading it from the beginning once, but somehow lost interest long before catching right up.

Let me think of it...

The series stays good as long as there are wacky, less-than-logical rules in D&D. Which means a long, long time...

I think it's solid throughout. Like any long-running series, it has a meh comic every now and then, but I still find it incredibly funny.

Having just seen episodes 1-13, I gotta wonder what is the attraction. I mean, I realize it is all DnD and stuff and poking fun at TPTB, but really. Is it more than that? Will there ever be some topical episodes that relate to real life?

Yes, there is real life things...though made fun of.
I have also found Final Fantasy references (specificly phenix downs and moogles).
And aren't you curious as to what happens?

The point of OotS, as far as I can tell, is to parody D&D. Why would you want to make it do something else? It's like asking Spidweb to make a MMORPG.

I guess not knowing the point would be the point. Now that I know the point however, what is the point if I don't care about the point?

Edit - ZOMG!!! Spidweb is gonna make a MMPORT!

What character development OotS does have doesn't occur until much later. Essentially, OotS is just your stock fantasy characters running around a standard fantasy environment with an utter lack of respect for the fourth wall. You don't have to memorize the d20 system to enjoy it, but if fantasy webcomics ain't your cup of tea, don't read it.

Why did you make this so cryptic? You could've saved me a post. Meanie.

Well last year after seeing countless links from here and other places to OOTS comics I decided to take a look I found it started getting really good when the plot started rolling.

Anyway, what do you think of the latest arc/plot developments.

I like it. The comic has hit it's stride with the Azure City War.

It's worth checking every few days, but then again so are most webcomics.

OOTS's audience, mind you, is among the worst ever. It's even worse than you'd expect from the niche it's pitching to: in addition to your normal assortment of creepy old men and self-diagnosed Aspies, a cursory search through their boards will turn up a Goddamn animated GIF of a halfling and a samurai making out within the hour.

Reminds me of the topic for it on Tyran's dumb satellite board: there was a bunch of indignance about how awful the latest comic was because it was just a long string of 'junk' puns. If you're not devoted heart and soul to pretending to be a sexless prepubescent, it's hilarious, of course - but then, if you're not then chances are you're not representative of OOTS's audience. Congratulations, I guess.

Alec, you've been hunting for animated gifs of halflings and samurai again.
I will have to tell your mother about this!
