Almost all gone. We have never gotten a trick-or-treater, and with only 2 dozen houses on this 6 mile road, I doubt we ever will. Not enough volume. And on that note, I need to poll the audience and perhaps prolong this discussion. In Oregon it seems that it is okay to go business-to-business begging for candy. It also seems that various neighborhoods organize their times of operation so that kids get more candy. Some places have Halloween from noon to 3 on Sunday, and some 5-8 on Wednesday. Does this happen in more places, or does Oregon just suck? -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." Been staring for 13 hours now, and it still is an image of a female dancer doing a pirouette. Started to look like a man smoking a cigar for a while, but that passed. -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." Yeah, I gotta laugh at the notion that people are leaving the coasts for fear of the the steady 1"/year rise in sea-level over the next 100 years. Or whatever the fear may be. All of my family lives within 100 miles of an ocean. California, Maryland, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maine. One uncle owns to the high tide line, and three other relatives can see the ocean from their windows. Not that that is statistically significant, but they also understand global warming and drive those silly looking Prius cars. And if some people are leaving Florida or the Gulf coast, then I say good. Those places were never meant to be inhabited by humans anyways! :P -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." quote:Iffy - You ask for examples of why people treat you poorly. This little quote would be an example of why I find you distasteful. You are making a statement of opinion seem like a statement of fact. In reality, what you mean is "I don't understand why people use vandalism as a tool of rebellion." Edit - I do have to give props for the phrase "stupid idiotic morons," I'll have to start using it again in casual conversation. (Ex. People that root for the Colts are stupid idiotic morons.) I think they acted like a bunch of middle schoolers. No facebook or myspace? Whaaaaaaaaaa! Someone broke the rules and was punished according to established guidelines? Whaaaaaaaaaa! Trying to establish yourselves as adults, or at least as being worthy of adult consideration, requires actions that are respected and understood by adults. Having a disruptive protest is not very adult. Like others noted, you had nothing to gain, and lost valuable education time. It would have been okay to protest if one person had been unfairly singled out for computer privilege revocation, or if the runaway had been punished beyond the established guidelines, because you would likely have begun a dialog which could have enlightened you on the reasonings of the ruling elite. They might not have changed decisions, but (barring confidentiality) you would have at least understood the rational. In short, protest for the sake of protest is a pathetic display of selfishness. Protest for the sake of productive change is to be admired. -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." It really does depend on the mechanic. If the graphics with buttons just overlaid a transparent frame, ready for portraiture, then that would be great. You could use a stock picture from the game, or make your own and then post it on the interwebs. I give this idea 3 half eaten cookies and a glass of sparkly water. -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." If you need to understand the Loathing in Avernites minds for the Empire soldiers, just remember that they were treated poorly by the Empire for many years. Some were born in Avernum and were spoon fed prejudices by their parents. Parents that had been cast into the Abyss by the cruel and unforgiving Emperor. Having been accepted back onto the surface in A3, most Avernites that wanted to relocate, have done so. Those that continue to live in the underworld do so because they either prefer it, see profit in it, or have deep-seated hatred for the surface world and its Empire. The fact that in A4 there was a surface dweller that messed around with the underworld was heinous enough, and was dealt with appropriately by the underworld. He was banished back to the surface. Well, now the Empire is trying to find this fellow, and is sending troops. You. Because the Avernites can't do a decent job and are basically incompetent. So yeah, it is no wonder that the folks that remain in Avernum would be inclined to distrust or outright hate any Empire official that dropped in for high tea. ;) -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products." Just finished To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis. Nice little novel on time travel and the implications surrounding the changes in destiny that can inadvertently be made. Title is a reference to a Jerome K. Jerome book about three men and a journey up the Thames that was written in the 1800's, which is another good read. -------------------- Synergy, et al - "I don't get it." quote:I would prefer to see everyone being jerked around, but that wouldn't get much accomplished. My assumption is that you have done some basic research prior to asking a question on SSMB. You have gained a basic awareness of what webhosting companies exist, and what services are offered. What you want is comments on how they are utilized by the community, what experiences have been like, and what recommendations exist. I do not have that expectation with Iffy, because he has stated that he doesn't want to follow Googled links for fear that he will see boobies. So, while it may seem irrational to condemn Iffy's question and blindly answer yours, I assure you that it is not. Iffy needs to learn that Google isn't going to send him to pr0n, and that his own brother might be a good resource as well. If my assumption about the differing research capabilities is wrong, please correct me. -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products."
