I've just started visiting the Spiderweb universe, so I'm not yet competent to offer suggestions to make substantive improvements to the games. But there is one suggestion I can make for a cosmetic improvement. One of the (chrome) things I liked most about the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games was the ability for users to have their own custom character portraits. With literally hundreds of pictures alteady formatted and ready for d/l in various places around the 'Net, one could really portray their party as they wanted them to look. It added surprisingly to the immersive quality of the experience. So the question is, how hard would it be to implement such a system in the next Arcanum (#6, I suppose) or the other games? Ideally, one that would make it possible to use the portraits I (and many others, no doubt) have already collected? Obviously, some modifications to the code would have to be made, but would it be a cost-effective way for the Devs to spend programming time? Opinions? -- Mal [ Tuesday, October 30, 2007 21:15: Message edited by: malthaussen ] -------------------- "Of two choices, I always take the third." Welcome to Spiderweb! Leave your sanity at the door. My understanding is that it would probably be difficult, given that the current portraits in Avernum are integrated with buttons within the frame. A small redesign wouldn't probably be that hard, but how much added value would you really get from it? Is the blond haired man with the mustache really so bad? -------------------- In today’s America, there are more World of Warcraft players than farmers. It really does depend on the mechanic. If the graphics with buttons just overlaid a transparent frame, ready for portraiture, then that would be great. You could use a stock picture from the game, or make your own and then post it on the interwebs. I give this idea 3 half eaten cookies and a glass of sparkly water. -------------------- Vogel - "10% off on all of [our] products for the month of October. ... this discount applies to games, CDs, bundles, and even already discounted products."
