My fav Birthday Present........
So hard to decide. I should pick that one time where I received a surprise visit from my mother (who was currently living in NY) when I was 11. However, I would be lying. I loved being able to throw a "no adults allowed" party when I was 14. Materialistically, it would have to be my bracelet given to me by my mother. Now, my fav present from a guy would be a tie from my best friend JC giving me a necklace (I thought it was the sweetest thing), and I surprise visit from my ex boyfriend who just happens to be one of my closest friends.

As I said before I've only played once. Therefore, I'm in lvl 3 (I think), with no items whatsoever. I'll see if I can catch up during the weekend, if I get a chance to be online.

Hooray for Orange Gatorade!

Personally, I refuse to drink alcohol as well. It's nasty, and negatively affects your thinking. Plus it makes you clumsy.

I think that a big factor on drinking is that it affects your thinking. Sometimes people just wanna forget, and drinking presents a fancy getway. I'm not saying is right, but it works momentaraly. I, for example, think toooo much about the consequences of my actions (not post, we all know how dumb those are). What if this happens? or what will they think, and what about this or that. So drinking, mostly on vacation and with a fair amount of control on my drinking, just allows me to have fun. Plain innocent dumb fun, just to be a teenager and not think for once.

Yeah, it's a shame I've probably never been within 300 miles of a Catholic School. Is it true that they're really strict?

As Thuryl said, every school had their different rules. Ours was fairly strict, but we got used to it. Some rules were understandable, others were just made to make our lives misserable.
Ex:
1)We had to wear uniforms (though every school in Dom. Rep. has to)
2)Our skirts couldn't be too short
3)Our heels couldn't be too high
4)Guys HAD to get haircurts, and of course braids weren't allowed to.
5)You couldn't exit the school unless you werent sent home by the nurse (hardly ever happened), or your parents would pick you up (the former would happen more often)
6)You had to wear the school symbol on your shirt (attached to it)
7)and of course all of the "the nuns are always right and you're not, respect your elders" rules.

I'm sure there are more logical rules, yet I can't recall the others.
This are some of the ones made to anoy us, and for which they never explain why were created.

1)You couldn't paint your nails (have nail polished at the school)
2)You had to have an ID (though they wouldn't check it at all)
3)You couldn't wear hair gel
4)You had to have the high socks

and many more I've forgotten. Exciting, huh?

Edit: somehow I managed to screw up the Quote.

In other news, the Powerball jackpot is up to $340 million. Anyone who lives in the US and is old enough to play doing so? Do you think that participating in the lottery is worth a dollar?

I would argue that even the miniscule chance of winning warrants the trouble of going to a shop and spending a buck on a ticket. It's all about the dream, really.

It's worthless, you'll just lose your time, energy, money (a dollar is a dollar), and just end up in disappointment. I still can't manage to stop my mother from playing it when it's at such high numbers.

There is this lottery in Dom. Rep. (played on Wed. and Sun.). It is legal and broadcast on TV. I’ll try to explain it as good as I can, because it’s a bit hard.
Three random people go into a TV Channel, and they do this whole process of putting white gloves and showing everyone how they do not have anything hidden. Then they'd pick out one little ball (there are 100, containing each #) and show it to people. It looks fairly real, since it is live and everything.
Well the numbers will go into first place, second and third. You win if you betted in at least one of the numbers, and the amount you win will depend on what place the number got and the amount you betted.

For example:

If you bet US$1 and the number got into first place, then you'll win US$56. If you bet US$2 = $112 and so forth.
If you bet US$1 and the number got into second place, then you'll win US$12. If you bet US$2 = $24 and so forth.
If you bet US$1 and the number got into Third place, then you'll win US$4. If you bet US$2 = $8 and so forth.

Now, you are also allowed to bet on two numbers at the same time (called palle), and if they both come out these will be the results:

If the numbers come out in First and Third place, the amount you betted times US$200.
If the numbers come out in Second and Third place, same as above.
However, if the numbers come out in First and Second place, then the amount you betted times US1000.

And oh yeah, the minimum you could bet is US$1.
My family (especially aunt, whom plays almost every week) play it a lot.

Edit: that was by far the largest post I've ever made. Damn, I was bored.....

I only got three things to say:

#1) To Alo: nice joke on Bush. It always makes my day

#2)"Gay as Christmas" is an expression that I've heard tons of times before, even on TV shows. However, I do not agree with it and I think it's rather dumb than clever.

#3) Eldbis was right on the first place, yet he didn’t phrase it the right way. Jesus did not say that the "10 commandments would endure forever", but the "law AND THE PROPHETS" would endure forever. Jesus did not abolish the 10 commandments. However, he said that on Matthew 22:40 "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." Meaning, that the whole “10 commandments are a good guideline on how to act and should be followed, but unnecessary to get to heaven”.

Christmas does come from Christianity. It celebrate Jesus' birth, and unifies the professing of Christendom.

And that line is def not that clever, since I've def heard it before several times.

As far as I know, translated chicho would be somewhat as what people call rolls or pooch in english. It's like the fat around a woman's (mostly) stomach. Like when you pinch a girls stomach and there is a lot of meat on it.

I've never used it as a name until my baby cousin started calling her little brother that when she was two and the name just stayed. Surely, is not nice to call him that but it's just so sweet on him.

BTW, Marlenny, in which world are you ussually?

Sure I'd love to. I've only played once (last night), and not for long since I had school this morning (meaning waking up at 4:30am). Therefore, I only got to finished the tutorial. The only world I've played is 85 I think, and I'll see if I can get online to play it tonight if my lil brother doesn't bug me a lot about using the pc. However, I'll def add you to my friend list.

Ps. To Synergy: Um, have you ever heard about that little thing called "being nice" or that other one called "wanting to help out"????. Not everything involves flirting or crushes. My God.

Edit: Right now the time in here is 12:25pm. I'll be online in about 8 to 9 hours.

Drew: I've def seen that pict of you before. You look so young.

Thuryl: He had to be joking; you don't look like that picture at all. However, I used to love SM and that picture is soooo disturbing.

Aran: Cool pict. Don't worry about the bear thing, most guys I know don't have one. The sad part it's that they pretend to shave it. Poor souls

That would be the definition of my Metaphysics class, but you'd have to capitalize the being bored part. Honestly, when you see everyone in the class dying from boredom, almost falling asleep (the ones that are awake), and looking at the watch 100 times within an hour. You'd think he'll realize that he needs to change his approach to the subject.

Now mine is less interesting than the rest. However, I'm attempting to make it so by describing how I obtained the lovely name that you all see. Marlenny is my real name. It was given to me by aunt who adored some super-model called Marlene something. My father, in the other hand, tried to be original and messed around here and there until he came up with Marlenny. I do not have any nicknames, except for my lil brothers randomly attempts to call me Marlen when asking for favors and a couple of friends calling me honeygirl because of the color my eyes.

Edit: If I can remember the thread, then it's def not that long ago. Next thing you know, we'll have the how do you pronounce your sn thread.
