There is an 'Avernum 4 Prefs' file, but it is not a plist. Mine contains only two nonsense characters, which makes sense because there are only a half a dozen yes/no type options in the game's preferences window. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! I much enjoyed the old QBasic version of Gorillas. I particularly liked the way that in the version I have, if you throw a banana with a velocity of 360, it skips significantly, and so can be used to cut through buildings much more quickly. I think that Gorillas was the first computer game I ever played, with Number Munchers being second. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" At the school where my mom works they have about a hundred iBooks, a large number of which have had bad motherboards. What's worse is that a significant proportion of the replacement motherboards have been bad as well. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" No there is no such editor. BoA scenarios depend on a number of files, some of which are script files that provide code for the game application to execute at certain times. Boats and horses are added to the scenario by certain particular script calls. A scenario is very complicated, and can be constructed in many different ways. It would be far simpler to just learn how scenarios are made if you want to modify them. Basically like Ephesos said, if you want to know, read the manual. It's included with the scenario editor program, which you might want for editing scenarios anyway. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" I mostly use GraphicConveter myself, but only because a free copy came loaded on my laptop. It is reasonably good and I think that Thuryl's description is quite accurate. I also use Appleworks a good deal, but I have found that its color palette is subtly different from that of the built in BoA graphics. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! A link to what? If you mean an application specifically for making BoA graphics, as far as I know, no such thing exists. If it's just a good general drawing/painting program you're looking for, what OS do you use? -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" Me horde unless stuff? Never! My current BoA party has, it turns out: 163.5 pounds of potions, 97 pounds of scrolls and wands, 118 pounds of spare hand to hand weapons, 199 pounds of spare bows and arrows, 166.5 pounds of herbs, and 144 pounds of spare armor. Luckily in BoA there's no penalty for carrying around so much heavy junk. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" I believe that Jordan's series is to end after twelve books plus three tacked onto the beginning of the series. Personally I think that twelve doesn't look like enough, because I've read the first ten and a half, and I'm a bit worried that he won't have room to neatly finish all of those side plot lines. I don't dislike the complexity but I don't want to see it just chop off suddenly or be ended in a deus ex machina fashion. While a few of the books, namely the tenth, were a little slow, the eleventh gets off to a rather rapid start, including major events actually occurring in the prologue. (Which I was amused to see has now reached one hundred pages in length) I have read a number of Salvatore's books and own a number, but I would call him a favorite author. I enjoyed the Drizzt books reasonably well, but the more recent ones have gotten, in my opinion, really dull and plodding. There's also something about his style that doesn't quite suit me, which I'm afraid I can't quite describe. I dislike that his fight scenes tend to be somewhat gory, and he's rather quick to kill off characters. However, he's not that much hastier than Jordan, so I don't quite know what the difference is. I will admit that I tend to simply skip right over Drizzt's reflections at the beginnings of sections. That's simply more concentrated boredom than I can handle. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" Posts: 627 | Registered: Monday, March 7 2005 08:00 |

For science fiction: Isaac Asimov and E. E. Smith For fantasy: Robert Jordan and Diana Wynne Jones Those are the ones I can think of off of the top of my mind, but there are a lot of others whose books I own and read regularly. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! I'm using a java based program which collects the data by requesting the user profile pages one after another, and puts it into text files. Then I have an Objective-C program to let me view and analyse the data. It generates a list ranking all the posters during the time period, but I just copied and pasted the top ten. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" Replacing the processor of a computer is not really a practical idea. It is possible to overclock most processors, but its still not a recommended thing to do. Besides which, overclocking a 350 MHz G3 wouldn't get you very far compared to what new computers have. With that budget the mac mini does look like about the best fit for you, particularly since you already have the peripherals, though you could afford a low end iBook if you really wanted, I think. The mac mini actually isn't that slow, the lower end model is almost as fast and the two higher end models are faster than my one year old powerbook. Just looking at the processor numbers gives only a rough estimate of the speed, benchtesting is the best way to determine the relative performance of two computers. Of course, the mac mini isn't really intended to be fast, it's made to be cheap, so you have to expect that it won't be the fastest out there. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! A reasonably well treated mac will last for a long time, though so will a similarly treated pc. My family has a number of Mac LC II's and 386 and 486 pcs which all still work fine. A large amount of heat coming from the vent isn't necessarily a bad thing, that's heat that isn't remaining in your processor and other important components. I find it unlikely that it is hot enough to do actual damage. In addition, I know several people with pcs that actually overheat and cease working, while I have never seen a mac do such a thing. What exactly do you mean by serviceable? Macs can be repaired like any other computer, though you may have to take them to a specialist if you care about your warranty. On the other hand, many models of macs are not very upgradable, and the mac mini, which Thralni was considering, is one of those because the thing literally has pretty much no more space to put anything into. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! You can also take the amulet to the vampire, Mosadorl as well, the end effect is the same, but which path you can take depends on some actions earlier toward the vampire. That thing in DoK with Oakleaf appearing from nowhere to yell at you was just a bug that occurred because Ephesos was in a hurry to finish his scenario before the deadline. I think that he has fixed that in the newest version. I think that it really doesn't matter whether you destroy the group of demons a the gate or not, though you are not expected to. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! The universe as a whole can expand at any speed, and it may not be logical to try to describe a speed of expansion, but the part of it that we can see is a sphere which expands at light speed as enough time passes for photons from farther and farther away to reach us. A couple of years ago I saw a rather odd theory that the universe is shaped like a dodecahedron. Here's an article I found about it: Dodecahedral Universe Theory -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! Posts: 627 | Registered: Monday, March 7 2005 08:00 |

Are you sure that the picture is small enough? You might see if you could get the item to work with a slightly smaller image that you're absolutely sure is within the allowed limits. Other than that, I agree that it looks just like the code from ASR, and I can't spot any problem. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!" I would put a check in the START_STATE of the scenario script, when a certain date and time is reached, display a dialog box to tell the party where to go (Also set any necessary flags, etc). Then, when the party arrives in the correct town start the cutscene, say, from the INIT_STATE of that town script. -------------------- Überraschung des Dosenöffners! "On guard, you musty sofa!"
