Aran hasn't gotten to posting this month's yet. It has been about a month, though...

Still, don't be surprised if there are no stats this month. It seems like Aran is pretty busy with National Novel Writing Month.

The stats from last month, which I gather the original poster was looking for, are here.

The new stats would have been coming today, but it appears that the only server I have access to that can execute PHP is currently down. I'm waiting to see if this resolves itself by today or tomorrow, otherwise the stats will have to wait a few days.

Edit: How did you count this? You are using a script, I presume?

Edit 2: It appears that my webhost admin is attending a funeral this week and probably can't be reached until the weekend.

If anyone has PHP-enabled webspace to offer - temporarily - on a short term (meaning right now), it would be a great help. I can mail the scripts and any instructions for the setup.

I'm using a java based program which collects the data by requesting the user profile pages one after another, and puts it into text files. Then I have an Objective-C program to let me view and analyse the data. It generates a list ranking all the posters during the time period, but I just copied and pasted the top ten.

Aha. I do the same, but use PHP both for the downloading and parsing process.

Wow. It appears the server just came back from the dead. Seeing as it is 3:32 AM here, an ungodly hour to be awake even for many sysadmins, that is rather odd.

So thanks for the offer, but this time I can do it on my own webspace once again.

Edit:
Done!

Updating the php script: 30 minutes
Running the php script: 3.5 hours
Updating the database: 1 hour
Figuring out the SQL queries: 45 minutes
Posting the results: 20 minutes

Giving 10 (9) members of Spiderweb the satisfactory feeling of having contributed to the hastening the next board purge: Useless.
:P

I love that. I don't know why, but I always smile when I hear someone use that (and I often do so myself). It def has to be the greatest MasterCard campaign of all time.

It's certainly become quite the meme.

Advertising blitz: $3 million
Viral advertising: $1 million
Legal fees: $750,000
Providing fodder for thousands of jokes: $4,750,000, apparently.

—Alorael, who made up those numbers on the spot and spent no time considering their relationship with reality. Readers are advised to exercise caution when trying to create popular phrases for less than $5 million.

It's not as if he actually has to be there the whole time while the script is running. :P

I was there, though. Since the script is running on the server, not on my computer, it doesn't really stop me from doing something else on it. I just need to keep the browser with the page open, or the server will abort the script.
