Bah! Basketball is for those who... don't play ping-pong well. Yeah, that's right. Ping-pong is the best sport ever, although I do like tennis. If any of you decide to visit Washington DC, I can show you around, tell you which museums are fun, which resteraunts are edible, and then I can beat you up at ping-pong.

And that was a true story, although I didn't miss a shot becuase of the bagpiper. But he would come to random practices (I assume he lived in one of the nearby houses) and blast away on his bagpipe. It didn't bother me too much, but I still detest the instrument. Yay4Piano!

Ally, you forgot to mention bagpipes.
[Flashback]
It was a nice evening in spring. I was a mere lad back in those days... perhaps ten or eleven years old. I had a smile on my face, and stood in the middle of the soccer field, the rest of my team standing scattered amidst the lush green grass. Then the whistle blew.

I stepped to the right, then kicked the ball with my left foot to the player who had cut across behind me. Sprinting ahead, I could hear the calls of the other players, yelling at <name forgotten> to dribble down the line. Glancing to the left for a moment, I saw a defender collide with the left forward. The ball went spinning out of bounds.

Turning to watch my teammate retrieve the ball, I heard a strange noise, one that I had never heard before. But then, the ball was in play, and I forgot it. The left forward had feinted right, then drove relentlessly down the line. I called out to him - I was in position, ready to fire that ball into the the back of the goal.

Tense, I watched as the ball rolled speedily toward me. Pulling back, adjusting to meet the ball with full force, I looked up. And stopped.

It was that noise again. Except this time, it was much worse. It ground into my bones, and I staggered with the effort of keeping my balance. The sound was like a blaring ambulance, a dying elephant, a battleship colliding with a gargantuan chalkboard.

It was a bagpipe. I missed the ball.

You could try Realmz (www.fantasoft.com, I believe). It's extremely rough around the edges, as well as being rough in the center, and the midpoints between the center and the edges. However, it is a different game in the same sort of style, and is fun for quite a while.

1. I'd definitely fly. Being invisible on a whim would be nice, but I'd probably end up in places I shouldn't be, or would not want to be. Flying, however, would be a convenient way to skip out on all that rush-hour traffic!

2. Teleportation, definitely. Same as the reason above, but with increased mobility.

3. I'd be named Pemmin. If you understand that (and you'll know if you understand it), please drop me a PM.

Begin each of these sentence fragments with "I am annoyed by..."

Liberals. Communists. Short posts. Banana bread. Meat jello. People who cringe at the mention of Ayn Rand. People who get insanely angry at the mention of Ayn Rand. People who make fun of people who beleive that some of what Ayn Rand has to say could indeed perhaps maybe on a random given Sunday be true, if you'd allow her thoughts that much leeway. Believing what you support is right and just, only to find out that the supposed facts you've been basing your views on are in fact completely wrong. Posts without linebreaks, much like this one. People who are smart enough to speak English correctly, but don't do it out of spite. People who do things out of spite. Spiteful people who will not befriend me merely on a matter of principle. People who base their lives on the principles of others. People who let their principles stand in the way of reason. Reasonable people with all the wrong principles. When the music book I am reading from decides to turn it's own page when I'm not looking so I get completely lost and have to start a few measures back to regain control of the piece. 5 years of preperation to a competition only to experience playing on the worst piano in existence (although everybody else at the competition had to play on it too, but still...) and thus not even being worth honorably mentioned. Bad pianos. Out of tune pianos. Bad pianists. Out of tune pianists. Starting a piece thinking it sounds nice only to find out it sounds awful near the end. Too many interperetations of the same piece. Giving credit to "experts" when the only difference between you and they is about 30 odd years of rotting. People who try to put things in a good light by naming them differently, such as naming old people "aged" or handicapped people "physically challenged." [Don't start this with "I am annoyed by"] We are who we are, and putting a different word to the fact won't change anything. People who complain, although I'm guilty of that more often than not. Long books that get boring after the first three pages. Shakespeare literary critics. Literary critics. Movie critics. Musician critics. The Clinton Administration. Hillary Clinton, especially, because she's becoming less married to Bill and more married to the idea of a "loving wife who's had a raw deal in life and is oppressed and misfortunate but is struggling in an elitist society to win against the mean conspiring Republicans, conservatives, and Communist nazi eskimos [props to Wierd Al]." Che Guevara, but only because he's got that ugly goatee. Misplacing things and finding them only after I need them. School computers. The school's computer administrator, who swore at me for the length of about one minute because my account got messed up due to the 2 megabyte limit on our accounts, which, being in a c++ class and actually needing that much space to save my programs, I filled up somewhat quickly. Internet cookies, because they shouldn't exist. 1337 H4X0Rs, when they aren't just pretending. Bad RPers. People who claim there's a conspiracy when there really isn't one. Desperance, solely because of the ugly layout. My moniter, which flickers when I use the pencil sharpener next to it. My moniter, which flickers slightly less when I'm not using the pencil sharpener next to it. My room, for not cleaning itself up when I mess it up with stacks of paper and other odds and ends. My school's parking lot, for looking more like a Lexus/Mercedes dealership than a place where high school students park. People getting too frisky with eachother in the middle of a public space, "too frisky" meaning a cross between cannabalism and GET-A-ROOM. The movie theaters, for playing movies that are worth paying for about twice a year, and for playing movies that are worth watching just about never. Cable TV, for providing one more channel that I would watch were I to get it. Sattellite TV, for providing only 3 more channels that I would watch were I to get it. TIVO, because my friend has it and I don't. Ezboard. Popup adds. Mail spam. Spam. Spam (the "edible" kind). Jellyfish, because I'm always scared of them stinging me. The number 5, because, thanks to Stareye's hypothosis, I've realized it appears absolutely nowhere in science. e, for being a stupid constant that's used way too much for it's own good. People against genetically engineered plants, because I could never believe for an instant that they have any idea what the implications of such technology really are. People against stem cell research, much for the same reason. People scared of scientists. People who beleive scientists are an elitist bunch irrelevant to society. People who don't like mathematics, because math is beauty, and physics is the manifestation of that beauty. Squaresoft, for making a movie more boring than watching paint dry on to a growing blade of grass. And me, for not being able to think of anything else that annoys me.

EDIT: And finally, what simply scares me to hell and back, is that Thuryl has the highest score of anyone besides myself on my friend test.

Yes, it's that time again. Here are my greivances, for those who weren't around for the first time to see them.
-------------------------------------------
I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong.
An idiocy scale would be more appropriate for this. Supporting a country has absolutely no relation to political leaning.

Our race has many superior qualities.
I certainly hope this doesn't add anything to the liberal side if "strongly disagree" is chosen. The KKK's proclivity to the right doesn't brand every conservative or Republican as racist. Racism isn't a trait of conservatism or the Right - it's merely a trait of stupidity and ignorance. Hell, the Communists in the good ol' CCCP were Jew haters, and they certainly weren't right wing.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
It depends on the situation. The Soviet Union was never on good terms with America, but when the situation called for it, the two nations had to become allies. We do what we must. Had we not allied with the Soviets, I'd probably have never been born, because my grandparents would have been killed. I just don't understand what this has to do with the Compass.

The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.
I don't think companies have any social responsibility. However, generally the companies that provide some service to society are the more successful ones. And the best way to gain profit is to provide something that a society wants, thus making both society and the shareholders happy. Thus, I don't know what to say. If I agree, then it means I beleive companies have the responsibility of delivering profits to shareholders, which would be false. If I disagree, it means I would think companies have broader responsibilities, which would also be false. I'm marking "agree," but only because I think other questions are skewed in the other direction.

All authority must be questioned.
This, again, has nothing to do with the PC. There are liberals who would follow Clinton into hell, and there are those who would follow Bush into hell. Idiots will be idiots, no matter what party they affiliate themselves with. I marked "strongly agree," but I don't beleive that makes me more or less liberal or conservative.

Education should involve enabling children to develop their own personality.
This is the one I complained about most last time, I beleive. Everybody has their own personality from birth. Education does not specifically allow or disallow the growth of this personality. If I agree, it means I think schools should teach students how to act, which is silly because everybody acts differently, in ways that cannot be taught. If I desagree, it implies that children cannot develop a personality without the aid of a school, which is simply absurd. What did people do before schools? Did they all lack a personality? I marked "disagree," for the same reason I marked "agree" in that other question.

It's natural for children to keep some secrets from their parents.
It's natural for anybody to keep secrets from anybody. We all have our skeletons in the closet. I just don't understand what this has to do with the PC (I'm saying that a lot, it seems).

When you are troubled, it's better not to think about it, but to keep busy with more cheerful things.
NtDWtPC ("Nothing to do with the political compass," I think I'll be using the abbreviation frequently)

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
It's very true. Things happen much faster with a single party. It's an undisputed fact, and has NtDWtPC. The question says nothing of whether or not one party is a better way of going about things. I don't even know which bubble to fill in order to make myself more or less conservative. Flipping a coin says that I agree.

Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.
Insinuating that conservatives are all ignorant Phillistines? I think this is the last question I'll complain about - the test (as I see it, at any rate) is flawed significantly.

And, since you've all been waiting to see what numbers describe Motrax perfectly:

Economic Left/Right: 2.88
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.38

I'm not like any political figure they give, which suits me just fine. But then again, it's a silly test that doesn't cover nearly enough issues, and in the end, the numbers don't mean a thing. It's your ideas on case-by-case basis that matter.

quote:
Economic Left/Right: 2.75
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.00

I must disagree with some of the site's reading recommendations for my political type, however. Although I'm a staunch individualist, I really have no patience with Ayn Rand's "self-interest above all else" philosophy
Churl, you are my bestest friend. :P

Chaldrath, you don't have to learn counters in DoA, except when you're playing against Jan-Lee. Dead or Alive is a much better game than any Tekken I've played (I have no idea which number they're at right now). But when Soul Calibre 2 comes out, I think that'll top all of the other fighting games. Hell, the first Soul Calibre could be ranked as one of the best fightning games of all time, up there with Tekken and DoA.

And by the way, has anybody played DOA3? I've owned DOA2 since I got my playstation a year ago, and I'd really like to see the sequel. From the commercials, it looks like the exact same game as the previous one with the addition of 2 characters and some improved graphics.

OOC: No, we aren't ignoring your posts. But everyone is just introducing themselves, there isn't a whole lot of interaction going on yet.

IC: Somewhat startled by the sudden appearence of quite a few creatures, Motrax sat down on a rock to think, as he used to do... would do later in the future in order to think without distraction.

The Esper, Feran, and NaCN took in their surroundings while Motrax pondered this turn of events. Eventually, the dragon stood up and spoke in a voice barely lower than that of a human's:

"Well, this is definitely a problem. Rentar-Ihrno is much too powerful for me as I am in this state. A human without weapons, a... Feranix, and a bulb of incandescent light won't help me terribly either. But Rojhiniok, I have not heard of this city you speak of. If it does indeed exist, enlisting the aid of such people may be enough to at least foil Rentar in this particular plot of hers. It must be quite a long journey, though, since I know the caves for many miles around here. In any case, let us move on."

The others, not coming up with any better ideas at the moment, followed the young dragon. Upon leaving the cave, they spotted a lone Vahnatai in the distance.

OOC: That's Inquisitor.

OOC: Please don't ask "how was that?" It's just an RP, that's all. No Conspiracy is afoot here, none at all.

IC: Motrax, now almost a fledgling dragon, stood in his cave, which looked much the same despite the hundreds of years that had been rewound. Not having many options, the dragon lumbered out of the cave in search of some leads to Rentar-Ihrno.

Instead of Vahnatai, though, Motrax spotted a group of humans in the distance.
