I once tried unsuccessfully to get Descent to work on DosBox, so I don't know if it will be any better for TV.

Up comes the next generation of genious game programmers.

Miranda: Daddy, what you doin?
JV: Programming my next game, Avernum 7.
Miranda: I've never seen those words before, daddy. if(point[1][2]==pxl_value||pxl_value==14)?? What does that mean? It's 41 letters long!
JV: You'll understand soon. It's a conditional statement.

*4 hours later*

Miranda: Daddy, look, I figured out how to make Aldous stop when he hits the double forcefield wall!

That makes absolutely no sense. I know UBB sucks, but please. I would've guessed your rating had something to do with you being pro-Bush, but I could be wrong :P

Yes, we had a successful political topic a little before the election and shortly after I joined. It ended up being SW vs. ben and I gained votes faster that you can say "one star". Since then, it has steadily gained, but new votes are few and far between and usually subject to punctuated equilibrium.

However, when I said that some people's votes count more that others', I meant just that and wasn't referring to my rating. ;)

PDN? in General

My current PDN comes from an applet that Djur made that is designed to erase from the screen the contents of the posts of a certain member. Of course, it defaults to me, hence the name.

On another note, it seems my moniker is long due to be changed, but I'm too lazy now to think of another good one. I suppose you struggle with that too sometimes, Alo. :P

How much time do you spend on here a day in General

About an hour, which is just about enough time to come in on a busy day, read all the topics that interest you somewhat, and post in all of them that you so wish to post in, barring the times when it is necessary to write a huge, paragraph-after-paragraph explanation or argument which TM will promptly respond to with "tl,dr".

That same thing happened to me too after I briefly changed my moniker to ashby4808 in responce to Ash's unfortunate banning.

Interestingly, you can see screenshots from the UBB admin interface and notice that there is a newer version of UBB that actually uses a real database.

But unfotunately, formatted and colored text here is not an option due to the heedless disabling of HTML. :P

My karma may look like two stars, but it's actually only 1.71, and posting in karma topics rarely effects that anymore, as I'm sure Imban has used his one-star rating on me already. (along with the 70 or so others that felt the urge)

That said, no one is quite sure how karma works. There is certain evidence that votes from some people count for more than votes from other people or something like that, and for some reason my votes seem to not count at all, because I once rated an unrated member 5 star just because I though he was cool, and he then remained unrated.

However, when testing on a random unrated no-post account (actually I think it was a puppet account for ADoS that had a strategic member number) to see what transaction page it went into so I could use get variables to rate karma-turned-off members, my rating actually worked. However, I did not catch how the karma works, so I'm still stuck playing by the rules.

All that said, nobody really cares about karma. Basically it's just a personal way to say "I really hate that guy *rates 1 star* TAKE THAT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA".

Now that Thuryl is gone, as many people have become aware, there is an open moderating spot in General, one that may or may not have to be filled. I think that electing another trustworthy moderator to compliment Alo and Imban's efforts would be a productive thing for the boards.

Are we going to have another election? A pick by the admin? Simply an empty slot? I'm anxious to know for sure.

Yeah, it probably would. I managed to get past, though, by sneaking across the river by Malloc and coming in from the north or south. Once you dump the herbs, they can't detect them anymore. :P
