I read Kel's rant and found myself agreeing a lot with it. I played BoE scenarios way way back when they first began to come out. I played only a couple (I think there were less than fifty at the time) and was a bit dissapointed, not that they sucked (at least that's not the residual memory I have) but because they seem. . . well, I disagreed back then with the ratings. I was trying to remember the names of the ones I played, and reading Rosy's post, Tatterdemalion was definitely one of them. Don't know what I thought. But I got tired and stop. Now, after lurking in the lyceum and reading in different threads what people are saying I want to do so badly. So, a few weeks ago I downloaded the BoE. This is something you all know, but it struck me as huge surprise and immense (gargantuan!) surprise that I had to wait for a CD!! Lately, all of SW games can be registered through the Internet. The CD is an annoyance of no limits to me. I live outside of the US. My national mail is a worse joke than a hybrid of Pauly Shore and Carrot Top. I get things through my sis who lives there, but it's expensive and I have to wait until I have 100$ worth of things. Which lately is very difficult due to the economic conditions down here. Eventually I'll get it, but damn it all to the basement of the seventh level of hell! Why can't I register that game in a proper way. I got into SW because of the Exile series (which I still think are gorgeous game with a grandiose level of elegance to them, and I'm not saying this just because) but I have to wait for CDs. . .!!!! Damn it all. Two things before I post this: 1) Do you know of a way I can register these games other than with a CD? Seems impossible, but I figure if any one knew, you guys would. 2) Sorry about the rant. But it's frustratiing and annoying. Heck, the Exile trilogy I can register with a registration code, why not BoE?!?!?! Salud! Galactic Core is a great game. The fact that I have never played it, nor will ever do makes no difference. It still remains a great game. Someone told me so, and I believe what people tell me. Everything they tell me. No exceptions. None, you hear. Everything. As long they say it with their mouth full of squirrel urine while they are having sex with the gardener's daughter who happens to me my mother and my little sister and my long defunct grand-auntie. But only if they are doing this in the living room of a pre-Victorian house whatching Episode #23 of Gerry Anderson's Supercar on a 1977 Zenith television which lazyly rests on top of a coffe table that once belonged to Leibniz. And they must be listening to Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun" backwards repeatedly. That about does it. Welcome Jethro! Hope you post nicely, and don't worry too much about your grammar, though checking your posts before you post them can be done without too much trouble. I thought what Riibu said was funny, but even if I hadn't had, since I'm not only post 4000, but post 4500, I would not have had any moral grounds to do so, anyway. If your posts are nice (whatever that means) and people find them cool, great. And if your posts turn out to be idiotic (whatever that means) and people laugh, great. Look at Ben, he's also post 4500, will probably reach the 500 mark by next week, and he simply doesn't care what people think (whatever that means) Whatever you do is whatever you will do and whatever happens will happen in whatever way it happens to happen, so why bother? In the end, what's the worst that can happen: public humiliation? someone sending you a nasty virus that completely obliterates your computer and somehow escapes it to real life killing millions of innocents in the process? Well. You can always reinstall your OS, and humanity could do with an arbritary purge once in a while. I think that as long as someone doesn't ask you to eat a raw, living platypus while you kiss some politicians dirty, smelly, hairy sub-equatorial posterior, while you listen to B's Ninth played on disharmonious Maracas by drunken mandrils, you should be all right. Oh, and I agree with Weedy, I hope you like Jethro Tull as well. They rock. Edit: Bad grammar. Yo hablo Español and learned English from a book. Ischi: I hope so. That Musashi is truly awesome. Still Conan (and I mean the Cimmerian from the age of Hyperborea, not that TV pu pu waa waa maaa!) would eat him and chew him back in the form of a neat dodohedron. Ditto for Drizzt. Heck even as writers RA Salvatore can't measure up to RE Howard. Salvatore is good, sure, but. . . Salvatore will die as time and memory slowly erode his flavor of the month (long month, I'll give you that much) status. Howard will live for ever, as he has proven so far. Drizzt could shoot swords out of his wazoo and still would tear him to pieces before you can say "Ay Mami mami heeeelp!" in Pansy Drow. -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

"Resident Evil" was indeed a fun zombie flick. Haven't seen #2 because they haven't brough it here yet. "Fallout" could be done by a small studio with a small budget casting mostly unknowns and maybe the Carradine family. Steve Buscemi might appear there too. I'm going to recommend George Miller as the director, as that would be obvious. Someone like Rober Rodriguez could pull it off, he works fast and cheap. Another guy who works fast and cheap is Clint Eastwood. Just please no one from the MTV generation of directors. Please. -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

Alorael: I think you own an uncharted island. Have been a villain in a James Bond apocrypha. Work for the secret service of a conclave made out of deterred Ofanim and Asuras. Ben: forget it, man. Add a little complexity and Hollywood won't make it. They couldn't even do "House of Death" which seems simple enough: zombies, guns, blood and gore. Imagine what they would do with something like "Fallout" On the other hand. . . maybe if someone talented with enough muscle picks the project up, then it might work. Maybe. I think Demonslayer has a point. Something like Duke would make a good movie. But I thought that they couldn't possibly mess up "Tomb Raider." Twice. And they did. I like "Series of Unfortunate Events" to a nuts extend. I even have the calendar (I know. I know) Thankfully where I live I can filter some pop culture icons (<shiver> can't believe I refered to Hilary Duff like that. Yuck) so Ms. HD doesn't annoy that much. Maybe it will work. So. How about video games based on movies? How have those fared? -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

(I am going to accompany ben as the other newbie here. Let me just say my thirst for masochism knows no limits) Congratulations! Desp. is truly a wonderful place. You guys manage, rather nicely, to mix irreverent humor (which, I must add is actually funny most of the times) with a serious slam on the head of Lady Censorship. For that, and other reasons better left unsaid, I congratulate you. There is a possible Eight Deadly Sin. Not a modern one by any means, one that has exsisted for ages immemorial. Censorship. Nowadays we have more venues to apply this censorship to. Do you people think censorship has become a bigger problem? Do you think we have taken steps, that have worked, in order to dilute it? (As for another possibility, also too old to call modern by any means, Hypocresy?) -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |

Very nice indeed, WS. The first thing that drew my attention was the eye. I love her hair. My first impression of his leg was funky. Almost as if he were standing on one leg only. I'm stuck with just CNN and Headline News here so I've no choice either way. Ben: why don't you give Letterman a watch? See at least the first five minutes, worst that can happen is that you'll truly never again have a reason to see him. Or maybe you'll see something you'll like. Or maybe Dennis Miller? -------------------- quote:Random Jack Vance Quote Manual Generator Apparatus (Cugel's Saga) Posts: 604 | Registered: Sunday, June 20 2004 07:00 |
