I'll claim Geneforge 2 Pages 26-29.

EDIT: I've just saved the pages, but I want to make sure I've done it properly, please excuse the complete lack of knowledge in this are and how stupid I'll sound.
I right-clicked on the page. Saved it as HTML. Then, to make sure it worked I transferred the info to another computer.
There I tested it and the page opened up well. So there shouldn't be any problem, however I want to make sure this is what you guys want before I continue.
Again, sorry if this all sounds extremely obvious to you all.

Yes, BSC -- I think that's who member number 4592 is, but I get confused -- that's right.

Could someone explain why Djur's IP is banned? Are we doing something illegal/immoral/wrong here? wtf?

BSC-Yes, you did it right.

EDIT: Oops, Kel beat me to it by one minute. :P

Thuryl, linking me to another topic I just posted in, where I *also* didn't understand what wget is, doesn't help much. :P

I figured it is some kind of site copier, but why would its use lead to a ban?

Okay sorry 'bout that BtI. No worries.

Aran, it's on the hit-list, they're killing it.

Ben, RC is in possession of the original PPP. As I understand it, the company hosting his website went abit screwy on him and he's currentely looking for somewhere to host that archive. I dunno, maybe there's something more on it over at Chance. As for this one, I have no idea what we're going to do with it after it's done, but that's something to worry about after we've saved it.

Also, que? Djur is banned? Then why doesn't that show up? I can't see anything wrong. And we're not doing anything wrong Kel. We had the blessings of Mariann to do this.

The list is also updated.

Are you Djur? If you were, it'd show up for you all right. As it happens, I don't think the public is notified of bans... ;)

Edit: From Djur's Profile.

Sounds kind of fishy; I'd say this is a hint.

Aran, you may wish to re-read (and re-think) the topic just a tad. Thuryl was the one who linked you to another topic. I am just as confused as you.

FBM is referring to the fact that most banned members (SM comes to mind) have a custom title of "BANNED" or something along those lines. So yes, in that way the general public is notified of bans. But no, that "hint" to which you refer is just UBB being weird. It shows up rather a lot.

Hide from Recent Visitors feature?
No
X Yes

ironycentral's server temporarily blocked my IP for spidering and mirroring the boards. Probably because I was averaging something like three requests a second. It was probably smashing the server.

I could have turned on random-delay, but I really don't care enough.

Also:

Kelandon: *Jedi handwave* Whoever spoke of you? Of course I meant Thuryl.

Djur: I didn't consider that possibility.

Mh, so I guess the reason I haven't been banned yet was because my mirror program works slower. Or it's because of the router. Or the proxy. Or something like that. I'm getting ahead wonderfully here, and if it didn't stop to pick up all the 'post edit' links (all of which point to "Only mods/admins may do this" pages) in every thread, I'd be done long ago.

I got 26-28 of BoE saved from "Scenario Making" to "Help for: Shadow of a Stranger by Risberg." Unfortunately, though, I don't have any more time today. :(

Oh, and if Djur is banned, he can always create a new account, am I correct?

EDIT: Er, I thought I'd add that I skipped two polls because I couldn't vote in them. I got the messages, though.

If he is indeed IP banned, no.
The board will recognize his IP and thus block him out. Hopefully (?), Drakey or another Admin has the power to reverse this.

Kel, Ben: Thanks.

Well, then if it's that easy, I'll just claim Geneforge 2 and start doing it right now.

Okay, Aran, where did you do between on 29-30 BoE?

BSC, I'll put in your claim, but are you sure about that?? ALL of GF2? Fair do's.

Okay, I'll take the 20-22 gap in ET to make sure it meshes. Then I'll continue work from the top.

EDIT:EVERYBODY DUCK!! ALORAEL'S BACK!!

Geneforge 2 pages 02-29 saved.
When should the first page be saved?

*Blinks rapidly in amazement*
*And again*

You managed 27 or so pages in less than an hour??
I'm averaging one every ten minutes!!
BLOOMIN'-HELL-FIRE LA'!!

*regains composure*
The first page doesn't need saving as everything on it is within the last 45 days. Jolly good work.

Uh, you need to get the individual threads, too, not just the front pages. It's not THAT easy.

EDIT: Wait, hold on. I am a fool. I just figured out a MUCH faster way of doing this. I might be able to equal that speed.

I claim, er, something in BoE. 2-4.

Kel is of the thinking that BSC misunderstood slightly? I would doubt that considering the wording.

Hmm...? And if you have figured out a faster way, do share...

Anyway, 20-22 done. And it meshes, moving onwards.
BTW, is anyone else experiencing server-related problems? It seems that all this extra traffic is affecting it.

Dear god, yes. I just did BoE 2-4 in however few minutes that was. The way I'm doing it is that I control-click on the link from the main page (ie from page 4, I control-click on the thread link that says "Emulations [blah blah]"), which pulls up a contextual menu. From there, I choose Download Link to Disk. This seems to grab the page without ever having to view it. For whatever reason, this is going literally at least ten times faster.

This may work on a PC, too, if you right-click. I don't know. I think right-clicking in Windows is roughly equivalent to control-clicking on a Mac.

And yeah, I'm getting the occasional server-related problem too.

EDIT: Heck, I'll get BoE 5-10, too. This is bloody easy now.

Halle-soddin'-lulejah!

THANK YOU KEL!
For Windows users, right-click and select "save target as". Previously I was having to go in and hit save as, which also created another separate file for the blooming imgs. Now I have seen the light!!

Yeah, in the past half-hour, I got BoE 2-10, from "Burned to the Ground" to "stuck in Nightjade". I feel like an idiot for not realizing how to do this sooner.
