I'll get BoE 11-16.

EDIT: Done. From where I left off to "The Scenario Ranking Contest!!"

EDIT 2: I might as well finish it off. BoE 17-19 and 23-25, I go get now.

EDIT 3: Done, through "Chains" on 19 and from "DBZ SCENARIO!!!" to "Need help; Blade of Inns" (23-25). I couldn't get the poll on BoE page 25 in the thread "Favourite strategy", though. Anyone who voted in that wanna get it?

Exile Trilogy 8-10.

Done, but I'll have to check over it tomorrow to see if I got everything.

Um, I thought of doing it that way when I started on Geneforge, but then I would have had to type in the name of the topic by hand every time. So I didn't.
Don't you need to?

EDIT: I mean right-clicking on the topic's names and saving them like that, instead opening each separately.

That's nicely explained Aran, but unfortunately I don't understand what you mean. After reading your post about a dozen times, I must admit it makes no sense to me. If you want me to make understand, you have to use simple words. A lot. And repeat things. Step by step explanations are usually the only ones I get.
Mostly because I'm too lazy to try and work my brain more than a little :P .

EDIT2: Nevermind, nevermind. I need sugar to understand..
Anyway, I got bored and saved the rest of Geneforge. So it's done now. Completely.

I save the forums by page number anyway, like 'page1.html', 'page2.html', in subdirectories named after the topic number. Check the URL for that one; it's the number after 't='. This one's number is 1944. It's unique for every single topic ever made, so I don't think there's a better primary index.

Finding the thread in the database after that is easy enough: Check the url of the thread you want in the saved forum page (there are 13 for General currently), then open the thread directory corresponding to the number in the url.

What I do is just quickly copy the name then save it like that using hotkeys. Takes about two seconds. Then I just save them one folder per main page.

So.. no one has ET 11-13? Guess I'll just take those then :/.

EDIT: Except him, of course.
Anyway, 11-13 ET done, from Items (poll) to Couple questions about e3.

EDIT:... I have a strange urge to save practically everything again just so I could get rid of those extra folders which came when I saved topics opening them page by page. Now I could it the other, faster way.. O.o
I doubt anyone needs to try and convince it's unnecessary. Because I already know, and will do it in any case. Damn :P .

Well, you voluntary masochists ... only one question: What are you doing now with all the stuff? As far I know, the rescued topics from PPP1 are still somewhere on RC's harddisk, unreachable for everybody ...

My procedure:
Get Mozilla.Make a new folder for each group of pages (like page 8 of Avernum or whatever) you are saving.Ctrl-click to open the things up in new tabs.Save each topic with a different number; the 2nd page of a topic would be [topic_number]_2, and you stick 'poll' at the end of the topic number for the actual poll page results.Save the page that links all the topics together.Give each file a meaningful name at your leisure.Compress and wait for a call to send you stuff somewhere.

Okay, I'm about to finish mine in ET. Then I'll tally it up and declare it finished.

We, however have heard nothing from Alec, and BtI seems a touch mute aswell. Hate to say it but, if anyone fancies stealing theirs out from under their noses, feel free.

EDIT: After I've done mine, I'm going to re-do all those with double files to make it simpler.
EDIT2: Actually I'm going to re-do my General quickly first, taking advantage of lax deletion policies.
EDIT3: IF anyone re-does anything, make sure that you do it between the same topics as last time, not just the same pages, otherwise there might be gaps.

I don't mind snatching the BoE bit, but I doubt I wish to witness the locked goods of former GC topics.

There are still other bits not done, and I will do my section tonight. Concentrate on unclaimed stuff first.

I'm running my spider through the forums one by one now. I've got the settings to only get the forum pages and the topic pages, so each takes less than half an hour.

I'll probably be done with all of it in no time, but at the moment I don't have time to check through what has been claimed and what hasn't.

??????

Ummm... except for 5-7 ET (which I'm doing now), Alec's claim of GC and 20-22 in BoE(Your claim), everything's done.

Fair enough. If that's the case, I don't have any objection if you or anybody else wants to do it. It'll save my hard drive space.

I don't. I didn't even start yet. Go ahead and do what you said you would.

And that goes for both you. We have done our share, and more. Your turn.

I just did BoE 20-22, if anyone cares. Starting on GC, the only forum worth saving anyway.

Thanks Djur. Honestly. Where did you do between?

EDIT: 5-7 done to Unsolved mysteries of E2. Waiting on GC, and then where Garrison and Djur did between and then we can declare a holiday.

I've got BoE 23-30, but some of that has been done already. And Galactic Core (eh, Richard White or whatever it's called now) in its entirety. Also, Exile Trilogy. This program is a godsend.

How much is the total disk space anyway? Let's organize the hosting/webspace now...

Okay, my part is 47meg at the mo, though I'm re-doing some of the stuff with the new method and that should cut it down a bit.

As for hosting/webspace, well... any ideas?

Okay, I've finished spidering the biggest board we had, Avernum Trilogy! Hooray!

Yes, I'm aware that all I'm doing now has been done, but the program I use only takes 30 minutes to an hour for a board, so I don't see why I shouldn't invest that time into a little extra saving.

Riibu, or for that matter, anyone who saw and understood that, just out of curiousity, what did that mean?? I only understood about two words.

Nice. We've got Alec and Djur both with claims on GC. Also in the race we have Aran who is sucking the entire site, and only counts as a winner if he finishes the entire suck on everything. Shall we start a pool on who'll actually finish it first?

Djur at 5 to 3
Alec at 7 to 4
Aran at 9 to 6

Any bets?

EDIT: Oh yes, I'm half done re-doing my files with the new method. 2/3s of the entiriety to begin with was done the old way, half-way through I'm down to 43meg.
