Changes for Better or Worse? in Avernum 4

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/smile.gif) Area effect spells were back!

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/frown.gif) Area affect spells were useful at times, but not as much as I'd hoped.

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/smile.gif) "Huge" seamless world. It made Avernum feel more "real".

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/frown.gif) Well, yes, I've always thought that two major cities should only be half a map sector away from each other. This definitely takes away the "realness".

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/smile.gif) We were finally back in Avernum, and saw how it recovered after the Empire-Avernum War.

IMAGE(http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb/frown.gif) How did Avernum ever survive the war if this is all they had. The Empire had far worse than a few shades and some sea-monsters.

I'm sorry, but as my first Spidweb Game (that I bought) was Exile 3, which is basically Avernum 3, I'd have to say that good old exile/avernum wins hands-down. I really loved Geneforge 1, but even though I've bought the latest 2, they don't compare to GF1, but the entire Avernum trilogy is really good.

All games have something you see a lot more of than anything else.

In Geneforge, it may be boats.
In BoE it's valleys, islands and goblins.
In BoA, it's undead.
In other games, it's other stuff.

When (and IF) I die, I'll just fade away rather swiftly. I'm just plain old boring, so not many people would care. All my stuff, well, it'll just be left to rot in the vacuum of "cyberspace".

Oh well, at least I'm still alive. And plan to be "lotsa" years to come.

And to learn more about Bahs just play the "unnoficial" guide (Kel's scenario Bahsikava for BoA)

To be honest, I never even found Bahs while playing Avernum 1. I was probably concentrating too much on exploring the side-dungeons (apart from the right one) and killing Hawthorne etc.

Try toning down your security settings if you're on a Win computer. They often block normal sites. (or just say trust site - or try using IE6)

Another one:

"Hello. This is <INSERT YOUR NAME HERE>'s secretary. <INSERT YOUR NAME HERE> is really busy at the moment, <INSERT MOST BORING ACTION HERE> so cannot tlak to you. Either that, or they just don't want to talk to you, but don't take it too personally. If you want to catch <INSERT YOUR NAME HERE> please ring back later. Alternatively, I can take a message for you. Please remember that all messages will be scanned by the FluffyTurtles (tm) VoiceScanner. BEEP"

Or you could just have:

"Beep"

The second one's probably your best answer-message.

Here's one:

"Hello. Why're you ringing me? Who are you? If you're Helena, drop dead. If you're someone else, consider droping dead. Don't bother leaving a message after the tone, as I probably won't bother listening to it.

Hello. Why're you ringing me? Who are you? If you're Helena, drop dead. If you're someone else, consider droping dead. Don't bother leaving a message after the tone, as I probably won't bother listening to it.

BEEP"

Just change "Helena" to someone you REALLY hate.

I can guarantee that not many people will leave a message, especially if you increase the number of repeats.

The most boring spell and monster in The Avernum Trilogy
Agent
Member # 4506

Most boring (and useless) spell has got to be Bind Foe. An absolute waste of time, as any monster strong enough for you to need to bind it can break free in a turn or less.

Most boring (and pointless) monster has got to be the Amber Slime. They are so easy to kill, and just mind-bogglingly boring. The Goblins come as close runners up.

Please tell me you were being sarcastic when you said that, or that I'm readint your post completely wrong. Because it happens 'all the time' does not make it morally acceptable.

<INSERT QUASI-TOPIC RELATED QUOTE HERE>[/QB]
I never said it was morally acceptable, I just said that it happens. There's a difference. I'm not condoning it in any way.

But what I said is true, these things happen, and no-one normally pay any attention to it. As it was mentioned in the start of the topic:
quote:
10 million female foetuses have been terminated over the past 20 years.
And that's just in India alone. When you add in the rest of the world, you get some odd figures.

It's not funny, but alarming. If having kids depends on how much it costs, then we don't have to worry about population ratios to destabalise the population, the economical cost will do it all for you.

Yeah, but by the time there's a large enough need for females, it will probably bo too late. Atleast1 entire generation will have too few females, wich will just cause things like rape and population destabilisation etc to occur.

Alarge proportion of the men won't exactly refrain from sex just because there's not enough women. Sexual diseases would rise, and thee would be a general collapse. Ofcourse, they would learn their lesson, but it would take sometime.
