I like most music, except Heavy Metal stuff with tons of swearing in it, as I find that fairly pointless. Some music just gets on my nerves, but I find other types relax me, eg. Classical and Some country / Pop.

It all varies.

Question 2: Imbalance of Wealth in General

To stop Poverty, we need to be able to generate far more resources than we currently do (or consume less), so that there are enough for everyone. Donating a small amount of money (through taxes maybe) can then be used to help some of the critically poor countries.

As mentioned, the problem of a corrupt leadership is a hard one, but that is why lots of aid Organisations these days give the money and education to the poorer people, so as to make the money seep into the country's economy bottom-up. This reduces the chance of a corrupt leader taking and spending all of the aid money for themselves.

We also have to decide which countries to help, systematically. Quite frankly, while it may seem more humane, pouring small amounts of money into 50 different countries thorugh 500 different aid agencies will not really help those 50 different countries significantly onto their feet, as it were. If all of the aid money were to be co-ordinated and poured into say one or two countries to help them, and then a few years later into a different one or two, these countries would have a far larger chance of surviving without further help.

Another help to stop poverty would be to scrap all latin-american debts, as the poorer countries have paid their debt many times over by now.
quote:
"By the end of 1972, the debt totalled 75 billion dollars and annual servicing was more than seven billion dollars. Debt servicing rose by 18 per cent in 1970 and by 20 per cent in 1971. The average rate of increase of the debt since the 1960s has been almost twice as high as the rate of increase in the export revenues that these countries must use to service the debt. This situation cannot continue indefinitely."
After all, what we did was invade their countries, enslave them, and then demand that they pay us for that now that we've left. That is hardly fair.

There is obviously more that we can do, but the thing is that more people have to be made aware of this. It needs to be brought "closer to home". Many more would willingly pay to help people like this if they actually saw that it can happen in their own little worlds. Awareness is the way forwards.

What about your autosaves etc? Maybe one of those is recent enough without the errors appearing?
If not, then you'll juts have to go back to an older save, or start again.

quote:
I am not sure about satellite solar collectors, but I've heard that Russia launched a large mirror to create an artificial day/night cycle during arctic night for a Siberian town. The satellite directs sunlight to light up the town during the day and turns out towards space during the night. (Beyond arctic circle, there are several months in a year when son doesn't come up over the horizon.)

It's not quite the same thing, but it's another example of satellites using sunlight to benefit cities below them.
quote:
On the night of 3 February the Russian solar mirror reflected a beam of sunlight several kilometers wide across Europe from Spain to Belarus. The demonstration was clearly intended to attract world attention to the capabilities of the hard-pressed Russian space programme. Such publicity is urgently needed. The collapse of the Soviet Union has left Russia to pick up 98% of the bill for the ex-soviet civilian space programme ($90m in 1993), while it has cornered less than 0.5% of the world market in space services.
And if the Russians can do it, with a smaller space-program than say the US and UK together, then we can do it better. I'm sure the sattelite idea could work, there would just need to be a point to it. Anyone can launch a hunk of metal nd fibreglass into space, but whether it would work viably is another matter.

I would say solar, wind, water, or maybe even ethanol. Helium 3 would be great, but that's not for some time. Until Helium 3 is viable, nuclear should be out of the question. Germany generates 30x more electricity out of it's solar power than we do with out Nuclear power, and we apparently get similar amounts of sun. That's just not right.

Can I simply replace the new graphics bmp.s with the old, assuming I find them?

Yes. You can. With work, you could even modify those above ones for blades for E2 use. (if I'm correct all you have to do is remove the combat pics and copy-paste the others into the right places).

However, E2 doesn't work on my comps, so I wouldn't know for 100% sure. But this is what I would imagine it to be like. Either way, when you get the old E2 pics, you can just overwrite the others.

What I was trying to say (don't know if I'll manage this time) is that no-one important will ever read what we write, so we don't have to keep what we talk about entirely on topic.

And I have no intention of stopping the topic, I just don't want to get flamed or anything about what I've posted. I just want people to read it in proper context and stop bashing me about it.

Sorry to anyone I may have offended, but it obviously didn't come across the way I tried to put it. Obviously Hitler was far worse, and the poor Jews shouldn't really have been the ones compared to him, but they were, and there's nothing that can be done about that. We just have to talk about the thing dispassionately, looking at the facts. If we're comparing Jews to Hitler, that's what we should do, and not argue about whether it's right to do so in something which isn't going anywhere near the press or any large amount of people. It's virtually pointless. No-one who matters will ever read it, so I don't see that it matters is we keep it entirely sane.

And if you'll actually read the whole thing, it wasn't me that mentioned the Jews to start with, and this is as far as I mentioned them properly:
quote:
Um, lets not get into a Palestine-Israel debate here. Please.

There's no doubting that people on both sides have been stupid, and that they shouldjust share the blasted place, instead of killing each-other over it, but that's as far as I feel we should go. Some of us find it a little more close to home, and I can't bame them.

But we learn about hitler in school (England) as part of the cuirruculum, Stalin's never mentioned unless you choose History as a GCSE subject.

- Archmagus Micael
It also helps if you post the quotes in context, as many won't bother looking at it in that manner.
