I listen to classical music, mostly flute music and orchestral music. Right now I'm listening to "Pictures at an Exhibition" on iTunes. That piece makes me wish I were a brass player. Funny you should mention Pictures at an Exhibition here. One of the pieces in the suite was "The Hut on Fowl's Legs (Baba Yaga)". I also like classical music. Some jazz, too, but mainly classical, and mainly baroque out of all the music lumped together as classical. —Alorael, who just doesn't like vocals. He can't explain why. I have no particular favorite genre. I listen to what I like. Favorite artists include Manheim Steamroller, 4Him, Paul Simon, Nightwish, Evenescence, Neil Diamond, and The Manhattan Transfer. I listen mainly to Metal,Heavy and Industrial Metal are the best.Bands like Metallica,Flaw,Ill Nino and Fear Factory are some of the best.There is also Shinedown ,but I don't know what to classify them as.I won't go near Jazz,country,or Classical with a 50 foot poll ,they just aren't energetic or my type. I like most music, except Heavy Metal stuff with tons of swearing in it, as I find that fairly pointless. Some music just gets on my nerves, but I find other types relax me, eg. Classical and Some country / Pop. Shame on you, Micael. Shame on you. On an individual-song basis I feel obliged to point out Empire by Dar Williams. (lyrics here). While I'm not a huge fan of much of her other stuff, that song is full of lyrical genius, to the point of poetry. Well to be fair, ROCK is the main genre. Metal would be a sub-genre of that. We can subdivide all we want, but at least keep the roots intact. Thralni: "Thrash" with an "h", not "trash". Am I the only one here who likes almost any genre you can think of and several you probably couldn't think of? It seems a lot of people say "I like everything" but what they really mean is "I like rock, punk, and hip hop". When I say "I like everything" I mean pretty much any genre of rock (my favorite rock band is The Who), any genre of metal (even a little nu-metal, but not much. Favorite bands are Metallica and Pantera), grindcore (A.C. and Cryptopsy), pop/rock (The Beatles, They Might Be Giants, Something Corporate), good pop (The Beatles, Lou Monte), most genres of punk (Bad Religion, The Ramones), disco (The Bee Gees, The Tavares) some hip-hop (Gym Class Heroes), some genres of folk (Bob Dylan, Donovan), almost any genre of classical (can't stand most J.S.S. Bach though, especially love Classical and Romantic, favorites are Schubert, Beethoven, Holst), a little jazz (don't like enough to have a favorite), swing (Glenn Miller), reggae (Bob Marley), Hindustani (Ravi Shankar), juju (King Sunny Ade), polka (Jimmy Sturr), blues (haven't listened to enough to have a favorite), R&B (The Four Tops), mariachi (don't know any, but I've heard a little), some forms of electronic music (not enough info), and probably others I'm forgetting.
